Oil prices near their lowest level this year

Baghdad Oil prices fell today, Wednesday, and Brent crude approached its lowest level this year, under pressure from recession fears, at a time when fears that the West’s imposition of a ceiling on the Russian oil price would lead to a significant reduction in supplies receded.

Brent crude futures fell 1.3% to $78.3 a barrel.

It touched earlier at $77.74, the lowest level since the third of last January.

US crude also fell 1.7% to $73.01, and during the session it touched the level of $72.25 a barrel, which is the lowest since late December 2021.

Brent fell at the settlement yesterday, Tuesday, to below $ 80 a barrel for only the second time since the beginning of 2022, erasing the gains it recorded during the year, which included a rise to near the highest level ever at $ 147 in March after Russia’s war on Ukraine.

An economic center expects the approval of the budget to be delayed for months.. and warns of a “financial vacuum”

Baghdad The director of the Iraqi Economic and Political Center, Wissam Al-Hilu, warned against entering Iraq with a period exceeding the 100 days required to discuss the budget and approve it in parliament.

He said in a statement: “The failure to complete the budget law by the government and entering the House of Representatives on a legislative recess for a full month, starting from the next two days and until after the New Year’s holiday, means that its arrival in Parliament will be delayed by at least a month in addition to the two months that it requires to discuss it in Parliament.” .

He added that oil prices are constantly declining, making them below $80, with expectations of a continuation of the decline, and the government has burdened itself with additional financial burdens that would increase spending and the expected numbers of the budget with low oil prices, a large budget deficit is likely.

Al-Hilu expected that the current exchange rate will remain as it is, and that the parliamentary budget discussion will witness major disagreements over some paragraphs, especially with regard to operational spending, which would enter the country into a period of financial vacuum that may last for months, which will confuse the economic situation of citizens.

He called on the government to speed up writing the budget, adopt a realistic price per barrel of oil, and avoid going towards increasing operational spending to prevent financial shocks that might repeat the scenario of inability to pay public expenditures, especially salaries .

Baghdad The independent Kurdish politician, Mahmoud Othman, confirmed that the approval of controversial laws between Baghdad and Erbil will be with agreed time periods, among the political blocs, not announced.

Othman explained: The Shiite framework made many pledges and promises to the Kurds and Sunnis to pass some of their laws, before forming the government, on the grounds that it could not be formed without them, pointing out that after the formation of Al-Sudani government, we are now waiting for the implementation of those promises and commitments.

Othman confirmed that Al-Sudani’s personality is good and unblemished, but the question here is, can he implement promises and move towards solutions, and will the political blocs support Al-Sudani, just as Al-Sudani is at stake in the case of killing the American citizen, and can he bring the criminals to justice or not?

The Religious Authority pointed out that the tragedies suffered by many peoples and ethnic and social groups in many parts of the world – as a result of the intellectual and religious persecution practiced against them, the suppression of basic freedoms and the absence of social justice – had a role in the emergence of some extremist movements that use blind violence against civilians, isolation and attacking religious centers and archaeological sites of others who differ with her in thought or belief.

He stressed the need to address the backgrounds of these phenomena, which are rejected and condemned in all circumstances, and to work hard to achieve a degree of justice and tranquility in various societies befitting human dignity as Almighty God wanted it, which contributes to reducing the atmosphere conducive to the spread of extremist ideas.
