Finance Minister highlights Bahrain-Egypt cooperation

Manama: Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa hailed solid fraternal relations binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

He stressed the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to support bilateral relations and expand joint cooperation. This came as he received Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Chairperson of Egypt’s Sovereignty Fund Dr. Hala Helmy el-Said, currently on visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Sustainable Development Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Economic Development Board (EDB) Chief Executive Officer Khalid Humaidan, Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain Yasser Shaaban, and Egypt’s Sovereignty Fund Executive Director Aymen Mohammed Suleiman.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy stressed Bahrain’s commitment to continue supporting joint cooperation, particularly in the economic and investment fields, stressing the importance of exchanging expertise. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation to created further promising opportunities and initiatives.

Bahrain’s Second Voluntary Review 2023 on track

Manama: Bahrain’s Second Voluntary Review for the Sustainable Development Goals (2023) has been unveiled during a press conference

Minister of Sustainable Development Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif shed light on the on the report, in the presence of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, UN Resident Coordinator Khalid El Mekwad and other officials.

Al Khulaif highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to balance the economic, social and environmental needs in light of the comprehensive development drive, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister

She highlighted the progress of work on the Second Voluntary Review for the Sustainable Development Goals (2023), noting that the achievement of the seventeen sustainable development goals requires a balance between the social, economic and environment needs.

She noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain relies in achieving these goals on the provisions of the National Action Charter, the Constitution and the 2030 Economic Vision, in addition to the Government Work Program for the years (2023-2026).

Undersecretary Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa noted growing cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations in various fields, stressing joint keenness to support the implementation of the Government Program (2023-2026), taking into account the 2030 Economic Vision an the sustainable development goals.

He stressed the importance of updating the indicators of sustainable development for Bahrain at the United Nations, to reflect the Kingdom’s achievements.

He underlined Bahrain’s commitment to communicate and coordinate with specialized international organizations in order to convey the civilized image that characterizes the Kingdom in international indicators.

“The Second Voluntary National Review reflects Bahrain’s renewed commitment to highligh its level of progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda”, he said, noting the the first Voluntary Review for the Sustainable Development Goals was launched in 2018.

UN Resident Coordinator Khalid El Mekwad praised Bahrain’s efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and integrate them into the government program.

He noted the importance harnessing all efforts to prepare Bahrain’s second voluntary national review for sustainable development goals, in order to highlight the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving them

Bahrain assumes the presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Bahrain has today assumed the presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization in its current session 2023, during the General Assembly which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was attended by ministers of telecommunications representing member States. The Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the first five participating countries in the organization, along with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and Pakistan.

Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Mohammed bin Thamer AlKaabi expressed delighted at the unanimous decision which reflects the confidence of member states in Bahrain capabilities.

He affirmed Bahrain’s support for the efforts of all member states and to work in coordination to advance digital economy and provide real opportunities based on the digital economy in the region.

GEMAYEL: KATAEB ELECTIONS ARE A UNIQUE MODEL OF DEMOCRACY, AND WE ARE WORKING FOR THE PARTY TO BE STRONG and DEFEND THE LEBANESE

Head of the Lebanese Kataeb Party, MP Sami Gemayel, indicated that “the Kataeb elections are a unique model of democracy,” adding that they are endeavouring for the party to be strong and to defend the Lebanese.

Speaking in an interview with “Al-Jadeed” TV, he said that “the polling will be repeated in the second round to elect a second vice president of the Kataeb Party.”

“Our party’s concern is internal and democracy is at the forefront today, hoping that we will give an example to all parties so that they adopt the culture of democracy that the Kataeb adopts…I am the seventh president of the party and I hope that 10 party chiefs will come after me,” Genmayel added.

He continued to emphasize that “400 partisans decide the future in the party for the coming years, and this is our concern every day and every hour,” stressing that “what we are doing is for the sake of the Lebanese, so that the Kataeb Party is strong and defends them…Tomorrow we return to politics, but today the priority is for elections in the Kataeb, which is a unique model in democracy.”

Karen Vasilian and the director of the “Russian House” in Alexandria, Pavel Kidisiuk, gave a presentation to the two writers of the “Russia Today” channel, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the launch of the RT Arabic broadcast.

Saudi-Omani Industries Exhibition Concludes with over 25,000 Attendees

Riyadh, The Ministry of Investment yesterday concluded the Saudi-Omani Industries Exhibition, organized in Riyadh amidst a high turnout of over 25,000 visitors with the participation of several public departments and 300 companies from the two countries representing several sectors, and in the presence of many officials and CEOs of major firms from the public and private sectors.

According to the Ministry of Investment, the exhibition succeeded in promoting a long-term economic partnership in the investment, industry, and trade sectors, in addition to economic and commercial communication, cooperation in the public and private sectors of the two countries through holding bilateral meetings between the two sides to identify opportunities, provide support for their realization and create an enabling regulatory environment that contributes to business development and prosperity, facilitating doing business and removing all obstacles, in a bid to achieve economic integration associated with the Saudi Vision 2030 and Oman Vision 2040.

The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Investment in cooperation with its partners, in conjunction with the Saudi-Oman Investment Forum 2023 under the slogan “Partnership and Integration” in Riyadh during February 1-4. The event saw the signing of 13 investment memorandums of understanding between the private and public sectors in petrochemicals, transformational industries, health, logistics, entertainment, and innovation.

GCC Secretary General Stresses Great Role Played by Digital Cooperation Organization to Highlight the Importance of Digital Development in Empowering Countries

Riyadh– Hosted by the Digital Cooperation Organization, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, participated in the 2nd General Assembly on February 5, 2023, in Riyadh, in the presence of ministers of the member states of the Digital Cooperation Organization.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, most notably strategic plans and initiatives aimed at promoting digital prosperity in all countries, the status of the digital economy, and the challenges facing all countries in achieving digital growth and development globally.

The GCC Secretary General stressed the role played by the Digital Cooperation Organization to highlight the importance of digital development in enabling countries to keep pace with the rapid growth of the digital economy, through progression and innovation, as well as the continued development of strategies and programmes to promote digital development to provide countries and the business community with tremendous opportunities created by the rise of the digital economy and to transform economies with new and promising opportunities.

He also praised the outcomes of the General Assembly meeting, which seeks to encourage digital and economic cooperation between countries of the world, taking advantage of digitization opportunities to achieve their social goals and accelerate the comprehensive growth of the global digital economy.

KSrelief Distributes 500 Food Baskets in Afghanistan

Kabul– The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed 500 food baskets in Kabul Province, Afghanistan, benefiting 3,000 people.

This comes within the project of distributing emergency food aid to those affected by the floods and the most neediest families in Afghanistan for the year 2022-2023, in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to alleviate the suffering of the affected and needy there.

Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission to participate in London Book Fair, invites publishers to register

Riyadh– The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission is getting ready to participate in the London Book Fair, which is taking place between April 18-20. The Commission will have a pavilion that features several literary-related activities that will highlight its work supporting and advancing the literary movement and enhancing Saudi publishers’ visibility abroad.

The Commission has made registration possible for publishers, literary agents, agencies it has authorized, and Saudi publishing houses that want to take part under the umbrella of the Commission’s pavilion by registering via the electronic link: https://engage.moc.gov.sa/reg_form/tracks/1657/new, during the period of February 5 to 14, adding that on February 19 the names of the participants will be announced.

Through its participation, the Commission aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s presence on a world scale and support Saudi literary agencies and publishing houses. This goal stems from the importance of communication between the local and international publishing sectors, leading to the growth and linking of businesses, giving them access to international experiences, forging connections, and marketing local production sectors and their services abroad.

Saudi Foreign Minister Arrives in Oman

Muscat– Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived today in Muscat.

At Muscat International Airport, Prince Faisal was received by Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and Saudi ambassador to Oman, Abdullah bin Saud Al-Enazi.

Foreign Minister receives call from GCC Secretary-General

Manama: Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani today received a phone call from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi.

Dr. Al Zayan congratulated the new GCC chief, wishing him success in performing his duties to further the Gulf march to achieve the common goals.

During the phone call, the minister affirmed Bahrain’s support to the efforts of the GCC Secretary-General to further Gulf cooperation.

The GCC chief expressed thanks to the Foreign Minister, pledging to exert all efforts in coordination with the GCC ministers’ council to bolster cooperation in all fields.
