A Jordanian land aid convoy departs to Syria to provide relief to quake-affected people

Oman, SANA-Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization announced the launch of a land aid convoy, loaded with medical and food supplies, to provide relief to the families affected by the earthquake, renewing its solidarity with Syria and its people in the face of its consequences.

The convoy heading to Syria, consisted of 14 trucks, four of which were loaded with medicines and medical supplies, and ten others loaded with food and relief items.

The Organization Secretary-General, Hussein Al-Shibli, said in a statement to SANA reporter ” Jordan follow-up and coordinate ,through us, with officials in Syria to provide all the needs of the stricken families and those injured as a result of the earthquake.

Al-Shibli expressed his country’s readiness to provide all aid, including medical, food and treatment materials, to those affected, whether through land or air convoys

Mikdad to ICRC President: International humanitarian efforts should be mobilized to meet challenges of earthquake

Damascus-SANA -Foreign and Expatriates Minister , Fayssal Mikdad, asserted the importance of the humanitarian role played by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria during the years of crisis, and the importance of strengthening this role and the existing cooperation with the Syrian government to confront the effects of the devastating earthquake, in cooperation with SARC.

Meeting with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the accompanying delegation, Minister Mikdad, referred to all the facilitations and support provided by Syria to relief and rescue teams in various regions of the country to mitigate the effects of the earthquake on the affected people.

Mikdad called for mobilizing all possible international humanitarian efforts to address the challenge arising from the earthquake, pointing to the impacts of unilateral inhumane sanctions on the capabilities of the Syrian state to face this disaster.

President of ICRC, in turn, expressed her deepest condolences and sympathy to Syria and the families of the victims and those affected by the devastating earthquake.

She underlined that ICRC will spare no efforts to alleviate the suffering of the affected people at present time, and work to support subsequent recovery efforts.

China calls on US to immediately and completely lift all sanctions on Syria

Beijing, SANA-China called on the United States to fully and immediately lift all unilateral sanctions imposed on the Syrian people and to stop stirring humanitarian crises in a deliberate way.

“The US government should immediately lift unilateral sanctions put on Syria instead of making a political offer for temporary relief,” Xinhua news agency quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin as saying during a press conference on Monday.

The spokesperson added the US has been constantly carrying out military interventions and imposing illegal unilateral sanctions on Syria for years, which exacerbated the crisis in the economy.

He stressed that the unilateral sanctions imposed by the American side directly hinder efforts to rescue the victims of the violent earthquake that struck Syria, which escalated the catastrophe.

MAKARY SALUTES ‘RADIO LEBANON’ MARKING WORLD RADIO DAY, SAYS WILL ENDEAVOR TO MAINTAIN ITS CONTINUITY

Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, on Monday saluted the Lebanese radio stations and their employees, especially state-run Radio Lebanon (Radio Liban), on the occasion of the World Radio Day, celebrated this year under the theme “Radio and Peace”.

In an interview with “Radio Lebanon” program this morning, Caretaker Minister Makary saluted all radio stations “that are struggling in an era of technology dominance,” and especially saluted Radio Lebanon, whose employees are making great sacrifices for the sake of maintaining the Station’s continuity.

“Without their struggle, the radio would not have continued,” the Minister said.

Makary stressed that “the Ministry is making great administrative efforts to address the problems that the radio station suffers from, and in this regard the MoI is holding the necessary meetings, as it works to improve technologies and bring in aid for the Station’s continuity.”

“Everything we can do administratively, we will do it to the fullest,” the Minister said, underlining that he will strive to keep the radio station existing.

For his part, Radio Lebanon Director, Mohammed Gharib, affirmed that “the radio is making a great effort to preserve its existence and its great history.” Gharib saluted all the station’s employees who are working with utmost passion and love to deliver its message and its role in delivering the word that unites the Lebanese rather than splitting them apart.

In turn, Program Director at Radio Lebanon (Radio Liban), Rita Noujaim El Roumi, revealed that two programs will be broadcasted soon, the first dwelling on religious tourism in Lebanon, and the second marking the declaration of Beirut as the capital of Arab media for the year 2023.

UNESCO Information and Communication Officer, George Awad, for his part, saluted all radio stations and Radio Lebanon, “which are able to stand resilient in light of the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through.”

ARMY RECEIVES FIFTH BATCH OF QATARI FINANCIAL DONATION

The Lebanese army command on Monday received the fifth batch of financial aid donated by Qatar.

Army Commander General Joseph Aoun thanked the state of Qatar for its support for Lebanon and its army amid the current challenges, stressing that he looks forward to strengthening the bilateral military cooperation.

Allawi Appreciates The Role Of Clans In Preserving The Social Fabric And Promoting Civil Peace

Baghdad, The head of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, appreciated the tribal role in preserving the social fabric and strengthening civil peace.

A statement by the office of the head of the coalition stated: “Allawi met a delegation of tribal sheikhs and notables of Anbar Governorate.”

It added, “Allawi appreciated the tribal role in preserving the social fabric and strengthening civil peace.. Stressing that “our pure Iraqi clans stood as an impenetrable barrier in the face of the forces of terrorism and extremism and those who aspire to the bounties of our dear country.”

During the meeting, according to the statement, it was agreed to unify positions and joint national action, within the National Coalition and its national project to achieve a state of citizenship that is based on the foundations of justice and equality and adopt solutions that preserve the dignity of Iraq and contribute to providing a free and dignified life for its people, and the elimination of marginalization and exclusion policies and the fight against sectarianism politics and corruption, which was a major cause of the deterioration of the situation in the country.

The statement indicated that there are other clans from Anbar province that will join this national project.

GCC Labor Ministers Hold Meeting with Director General-Elect of U.N. International Labor Organization

Dubai– The labor ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states held a meeting with the Director General-elect of the U.N. International Labor Organization (ILO) during the World Government Summit, today in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Chaired by Dr Mahad bin Said Baawain, the Minister of Labour of the Sultanate of Oman and Chairman of the current session, the meeting with ILO Director-General-elect Gilbert Houngbo saw the participation of Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdul Mannan Al Awar, the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the United Arab Emirates; Jameel bin Mohammed Humaidan, the minister of Labor of the Kingdom of Bahrain; Engineer Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, the Minister of Labor of the State of Qatar; and Engineer Mai Jassim Al Baghli, the Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development and Minister of State for Women and Childhood Affairs of the State of Kuwait. GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi also participated.

At the beginning of the meeting, GCC labor ministers congratulated Albudaiwi on the assumption of his duties as Secretary General of the Cooperation Council, wishing him more success in his career.

Several issues of common interest were discussed during the meeting, including sharing views on the opportunities and prospects for enhancing cooperation between the GCC countries and the ILO, the foremost of which addresses the latest developments in the GCC labor markets. The meeting concluded with an agreement on the cooperation program between the ILO and the GCC Labor Ministries to accomplish common interests.

For his part, the GCC Secretary General praised the sincere efforts made by the GCC member states in the labor system and keeping up with the laws in line with international standards and systems in a way that contributes to strengthening the process of joint Gulf action to achieve the noble goals towards more cooperation and integration among the countries of the Council, especially the systems of the ILO. Furthermore, he expressed his pride in the endeavors made by the GCC countries toward implementing international labor laws.

Serbian President affirms his country’s solidarity with Syria

Belgrade, SANA- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed his country’s solidarity with Syria, following the earthquake that occurred last Monday.

Meeting the Syrian Ambassador in Belgrade Basem Jamaan Agha, Vucic extended sincere condolences to the families of earthquake victims. wishing a speedy recover for the injured.

Vucic denouncing attempts to obscure the horror of the humanitarian catastrophe there.

He pointed out the intention of the Serbian government to provide assistance to Syria, in coordination with its embassy in

Belgrade and the Serbian Embassy in Damascus.

The Turkish army: 19 Logistical Support Bases Established In Earthquake Areas in South of the Country

Istanbul, The Turkish army announced the establishment of 19 logistical support bases in the earthquake-stricken areas in the south of the country, in order to deliver aid to the affected people as quickly as possible.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated in a statement today that the Turkish army continues to contribute extensively to search and rescue operations, life support and health activities in the earthquake-affected areas in the south of the country, and that it has established air and sea “assistance corridors” to transport search and rescue teams to the earthquake areas.

It indicated that it assigned some army units to distribute food, drink and living necessities to those affected by the earthquake.
