Interior Minister, UN Assistant Secretary -General for Safety and Security hold talks on bilateral cooperation

The Minister of the Interior Muhammad al-Rahmoun held a meeting Tuesday with UN Assistant Secretary –General for safety and Security Affairs Unaisi Lutu Vuniwaqa to discuss bilateral cooperation and providing support and protection to UN personnel in Syria.

Minister Rahmoun said developing cooperation with international organizations is sustained by providing necessary facilitations to all United Nations humanitarian agencies and organizations in line with Syria’s international commitments, laws and national sovereignty.

He also affirmed that the ministry is keen on offering support and protection to the United Nations staff while performing their tasks in Syria.

The UN Assistant Secretary, for her part, thanked Syria for cooperation and support provided to all humanitarian missions in the country.

MIKATI DISCUSSES PREPARATIONS FOR MUNICIPAL, MAYORAL ELECTIONS WITH CARETAKER INTERIOR MINISTER, MEETS APOSTOLIC NUNCIO, LAWMAKERS

Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Tuesday met at the Grand with Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, in the presence of Director General of Personal Status at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities Brigadier General Elias El Khoury.

Discussions reportedly touched on preparations for the upcoming municipal and mayoral elections.

Caretaker Premier Mikati also received at the Grand Serail the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Paolo Borgia.

Mikati later met with MPs Amin Cherri and Raed Berro, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Commission, Major General Mohammad Khair.

Al-Araji _Moderate discourse strengthens community bonds and consolidates unity

The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, received in his office today, Tuesday, the head of the Iraqi Scholars Group in the south, Sheikh Khaled Al-Mulla.

A statement by the Chancellery stated that Al-Araji praised Sheikh Khaled Al-Mulla’s honorable patriotic stances and what he carries of thought and moderation, pointing out: “The moderate discourse strengthens societal ties and consolidates unity among the people of the same country.”

For his part, Sheikh Khaled Al-Mulla stressed the importance of promoting the spirit of citizenship, coexistence and tolerance among all religions, nationalities and sects, and not forgetting the crimes of the terrorist ISIS.

The meeting also witnessed discussions on the Iraqi security, political and social issues, and emphasizing the importance of renouncing violence and extremist rhetoric. / End

The International Coalition bombed sites of armed organizations in Syria

Press sources said today, Monday, that the International Coalition forces in Syria targeted 3 headquarters of armed organizations, from which missiles are believed to have been launched at the US Conico base.

The sources added that the Coalition warplanes targeted areas northeastern Deir ez-Zor in Syria, killing one person and wounding 5 militants.

The sources indicated that the armed organizations evacuated their headquarters in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor and Al-Mayadeen, eastern Syria, as a result of the strikes of the coalition forces.

The base of the International Coalition Forces, east of Deir Ezzor, in Syria, was hit today, Monday, by a missile strike./ End

MSX Gains 26 Points

Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) general index (30) today gained (29.3) points, comprising a rise by (0.62%) to close at (4768.55) points, compared to the last session, which stood at (4739.28) points.

The trading value today stood at (RO 3,387,687), comprising a surge by (112.6%), compared to the last session, which stood at (RO 1,593,173).

The report released by MSX pointed out that the market value went up by (0.068%) to reach about (RO 23.75) billion.

The report added that the value of shares bought by non-Omani investors reached (RO 254,000), comprising (7.49%). The value of shares sold by non-Omani investors reached (RO 2,246,000), comprising (66.31%). The net non-Omani investment decreased by (58.81%) to (RO 1,992,000).

Oman Oil Price Drops 17 Cents

Oman oil price (June Delivery 2023) today reached 84.54 US Dollars, comprising a drop by 17 cents from the price of yesterday (Monday), which was 84.71 US Dollars.

The average price of Oman oil (April Delivery 2023) has stabilized at 82.23 US Dollars per barrel, thus 1.31 US Dollar per barrel higher than March Delivery 2023.

World Shares Increase Ahead of US Inflation Data

Shares gained momentum in Europe and Asia today ahead of the release of the US consumer inflation data.

The CAC 40 in Paris added 0.7% to 7,376.77 and the DAX in Germany gained 0.5% to 15,672.21. Britain’s FTSE 100 rose 0.4% to 7,771.43.

The future for the SandP 500 edged up 0.1% while that for the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up less than 0.1%.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index gained 1.1% to 27,923.37.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 0.8% to 20,485.24, while the Australia’s SandP/ASX 200 climbed 1.3% to 7,309.90. In Mumbai, the Sensex gained 0.3% to 60,026.46, the Associated Press reported.

Egyptian Foreign Minister holds talks with Greek counterpart

Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, and his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, held today a discussion session in Athens, in the presence of the two countries’ delegations.

At a joint press conference following the meeting, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed joint intensive work to boost bilateral relations at all levels. He added that relations between both countries are strategic regarding political, security, military and economic cooperation. He also underlined common keenness to enhance ties binding the two countries, pointing out joint efforts to consolidate cooperation in various areas, including electricity connection.

KSrelief Continues Distributing Ramadan Food Baskets in Bangladesh

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed twelve tons of food baskets in various cities in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, benefiting 3,000 individuals from 500 families, it was reported today.

This comes, the day before yesterday, as part of the relief and humanitarian projects the Kingdom provides through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to needy countries worldwide during the holy month of Ramadan

Saudi Exports Development Authority Organizes Saudi-Iraqi Trade Commission Works in Jeddah

Saudi Export Development Authority is organizing today the works of the Saudi-Iraqi trade mission in Jeddah, under the theme “Made in Saudi Arabia”, within the frame work of Saudi Arabia strategy to develop Saudi non-oil exports and provide export opportunities.

This aims also to increase chances for availability of local products in the regional and international market, and consequently strengthen the status of the national products as one of the most important streams of the national economy and versifying its income.

The “Saudi Exports” will target, in the trade mission, many sectors most notably; “Construction Sector”, “Food Sector”, and “Medical Sector”, and will witness the participation of 40 Saudi companies and over 40 Iraqi importing companies. This participation will help in spreading Saudi products and strengthen their regional presence; under the positive indicators of increased business activity between Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

This comes in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership to support and develop relations between the two countries and to strengthen their brotherly and historic relationship to help increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
