CEO of SFD Meets with Argentinian Minister of Economy

CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, met with the Minister of Economy of Argentine, Sergio Massa, during the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank that are being held in Washington, USA.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed development issues of common interest and possible opportunities for financing future development projects in Argentina. They also reviewed the SFD’s development projects and programs in South America and the rest of the world.

The Minister of Finance, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, headed the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the IMF-World Bank meetings.

Indonesia, Syria to enhance law and judicial cooperation

Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Laoly discussed with the Syrian Ambassador in Jakarta, Abdul- Moneim Annan means of boosting judicial and law cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms for enhancing legal confidence as a guarantee to protect investment and trade exchange between private and public sectors in both states, file of combating terrorism and other issues of common interests between Syria and Indonesia.

Ministerial meeting of GCC, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq: We support efforts to reach political solution to crisis in Syria

Foreign Ministers of the Gulf cooperation Council ( GCC), Jordan, Egypt and Iraq support every efforts exerted to realize a political solution to the crisis in Syria that keeps its security, stability and Arab identity.

“The Ministers exchanged viewpoints about the efforts exerted to reach a political solution in Syria, end the crisis, combat terrorism, preserve Syria’s sovereignty and stop foreign intervention in its domestic affairs,” Saudi Press Agency quoted Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement at the conclusion of a consultative meeting for GCC, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq in Jeddah.

The Ministers agreed the necessity of solving the humanitarian crisis in Syria and providing a suitable environment to deliver aid to all regions and preparing the appropriate conditions for the return of refugees to their hometown.

Explosion sounds near Japanese prime minister, Cabinet’s head is safe – TV

A loud explosion was heard on Saturday near the area where Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was holding a public speech in Wakayama city in the west of the country, the NHK TV channel reported.

According to the Kyodo news agency, an unidentified man threw an object resembling a smoke bomb or a flare gun before Kishida’s speech, which then exploded. The man was detained by security.

It is noted that the head of government was evacuated, he is now safe in the Wakayama City Police Department.

In July 2022, Tetsuya Yamagami shot former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the back as he spoke at an election rally on a street in the city of Nara, southwest of Japan’s main island of Honshu. The shooter was captured and arrested by the murdered politician’s guards at the scene.

Temperatures to rise, partly cloudy weather in general

temperatures continue to rise to become around average as the country is affected by a superficial high air pressure accompanied by northwestern currents in all layers of atmosphere.

Meteorology Department expected in its Saturday bulletin that the weather will be moderate, clear and partly cloudy in general.

Tomorrow, temperatures are going to rise more to become from 2 to 4 degrees above average.

The expected temperatures in some major Syrian cities will be as follows; Damascus 9/24, Lattakia 15/24, Daraa 8/24, Homs 9/22, Hasaka 8 /22, Tartous 14/24, Aleppo 9/23, Deir Ezzor 12/26.

4.5 magnitude earthquake hits Hurghada resort in Egypt

An earthquake of 4.5 magnitude on Richter scale struck the Egyptian city resort of Hurghada, no casualties or maternal damages were reported.

The Egyptian website of Al Ahram Gate quoted the Egyptian National institute for Astronomical Research as saying in a statement that the earthquake occurred 37 km northeast of Hurghada city at a depth of 23 km.

On March 22nd, an earthquake measuring 4 degrees on the Richter scale struck the city of Aswan in southern Egypt.

Violent clashes in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital

The Sudanese capital Khartoum and other cities were the scene of clashes between the Sudanese Army forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which have resulted in several military and civilian casualties so far.

The two sides exchanged accusations about the cause of these clashes, since the Sudanese army announced in a statement published by the Sudanese media outlets, that “the Rapid Support Forces attacked many of their bases in Khartoum and other areas in Sudan, which caused the outbreak of fighting that is still going on in many places”.

Both parties accuse each other of the start of hostilities.

Explosions and shootings were heard in various areas of the Sudanese’s capital, while Khartoum international airport stopped receiving flights amid clashes.

Mikdad: We have strong and close relations with Algeria

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad said that Syria and Algeria have strong and close relations, stressing that the Algerian leadership has been always standing by Syria.

Consultations with Algeria have never been interrupted, Mikdad said in statement to the journalists upon his Arrival to the Algerian capital on Saturday, and highlighted the need to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between Syrian and Algeria.

Mikdad stressed that his visit to Algeria is an expression of the sincere feelings of the Syrian leadership towards Algeria.

He pointed out that there is a sincere vision of the leaderships of the two countries to develop areas of bilateral cooperation.

Mikdad thanked Algeria for supporting Syria in dealing with the repercussions of the earthquake disaster.

Mikdad said that “The general role played by Algeria at all levels cannot be described. We are fighting on behalf of all the world against terrorism, “and emphasized the need to work together between the Syrian and Algerian sides to face the current challenges.

The Foreign and Expatriates Minister began an official visit to Algiers to hold talks with the Algerian leadership on enhancing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and means to develop them, in addition to discussing the latest developments on the Arab and international arenas and coordinating stances between the two countries.

Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Occupation measures to Judaize occupied Jerusalem are a violation of international law

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the continuous Israeli occupation measures to Judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem and other Palestinian lands are null and violate international humanitarian law.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack by the occupation forces against the Palestinians in the Old City of Jerusalem and preventing dozens of them from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, stressing that this attack is a flagrant violation of the legal and historical status in the Holy City and the freedom of worship.

The Foreign Ministry renewed its call on the international community to shoulder its moral responsibilities, force the occupation to stop its attacks, and provide protection for the Palestinian people and for Jerusalem and its sanctities.

With Syria’s participation, the 3rd China International Consumer Products Expo concludes in Haikou

The 3rd China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) in Haikou, the capital of south China’s Hainan Province, concluded its activities on Saturday with participation of Syria.

The Syrian pavilion witnessed a distinguished turnout by the visitors, including traditional products such as laurel soap, olive oil, Damascene brocade, shell wood, aromatic oils, cosmetics, and tourism promotional publications and pamphlets.

Diplomatic attaches Fadi Wassouf and Ziyad Zaytoun from the Syrian Embassy in Beijing shed light on the tourism sector in Syria which began to recover, and the availability of many investment opportunities and tourism attractions that characterize Syria, specifically the historical and cultural tourism that is of interest to the Chinese tourist.

The expo was held from 11th April to 15th April.

France’s Macron signs contested pension law as unions plan more protests

French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday signed into law a deeply unpopular bill to raise the state pension age.

The proclamation of the law in the government’s official journal came hours after France’s Constitutional Council had approved the main pension-age increase in a ruling on Friday.

The legislation, which will progressively push up the age for drawing a state pension to 64 from 62, is due to take effect from Sept. 1.

The president has staked his reputation as a reformer on the pension changes, which he says are needed to avoid billions of euros of deficit each year by the end of the decade.

UAE President holds talks with Brazilian counterpart

UAE President His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held talks in Abu Dhabi today aimed at further strengthening the robust ties between the two countries.

The two leaders discussed the COP28 climate conference, to be hosted by the UAE later this year, and opportunities to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the area of climate change.

They noted the need to intensify international collective action and solidarity to confront the threat of climate change, said UAE News Agency (WAM).

The two sides reviewed regional and international issues of common concern, and coordination to support peace and stability in the world, especially in light of the two countries’ current membership in the UN Security Council.
