An Accused Who Stabbed A Female Student At The University Of Basra Arrested

The Presidency of Basra University announced the arrest of the accused who stabbed a female student in the College of Education for Girls.

The president of the university, Dr. Saad Shaheen, said in a statement to the media office of the university, that after vigorous follow-up, the security forces arrested the accused who stabbed the student in the Faculty of Education for Girls at our university, stressing that the attacker on the campus and the student Zainab Karim was arrested in a record period, which indicates the university’s keenness and interest with the safety of its students and staff. The president of the university warned the weak of souls against compromising the security of the university and its students, and to ensure their care and comfort.

One of the accused had directed simple superficial stab wounds to the student from the College of Education for Girls, and she gained full recovery, as she was reassured and visited by a delegation from the University of Basra Council.

Information Ministry to organize Prime Minister’s Press Award tomorrow Sunday

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Ministry of Information will organize tomorrow Sunday the 7th edition of the Prime Minister’s Press Award. The event will be attended by ministers, senior officials, journalists and media persons in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Information Minister Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi asserted the significance of the event for the media and press community in the kingdom as it reflects the advanced level reached by Bahrain journalism thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to freedom of the press. He commended the patronage of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the event, describing it as an incentive for the journalists to vie for the award. He also praised the great care and support accorded to the national press by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister out of belief of its essential role as an active partner in supporting the government’s development efforts.

The Minister of Information affirmed that Bahrain press would always remain an influential element in the national development process, maintaining social cohesion and defending the national interests. He pointed out large participation in the 7th edition of the Prime Minister’s Press Award, adding that a total of 319 entries had been submitted in four categories of the prize – 138 opinion columns, 41 journalistic investigations, 107 press interviews and 33 press photos.

The Minister of Information noted that the jury has evaluated all the participating works accurately and honestly, in accordance with the award’s criteria. He added that the winners have been selected transparently and objectively, congratulating the press community in Bahrain on the occasion. He also called on the winners to continue their path of creativity and distinction in the interest of the nation and its prosperity.

Saudi Foreign Minister holds call with Iranian counterpart

Saudi Foreign Minister His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdulla today held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdellahyan and discussed joint cooperation across all fields.

The two sides have also reviewed issues that concern both countries and upcoming steps in light of the agreement brokered by the People’s Republic of China, reports SPA.

Oil Minister participates in UAE Climate Tech Forum

Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, commended the pioneering role of the UAE in supporting modern decarbonization technologies and building the economy and green industries. He praised the wide range of environmental and climate initiatives launched by Abu Dhabi in the year of sustainability.

This came during the minister’s participation in the UAE Climate Tech Forum which was patronized by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology at Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, in partnership with the UAE’s energy and technology powerhouses ADNOC and Masder.

The forum was attended by the UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology Sarra bint Yousef Al Amiri, and Singaporean Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam. More than 1000 policy makers, Chief Executives, experts, specialists and investors from around the world also participated in the event.

The Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs praised the UAE’s professional organization of conferences and major events, mainly those aimed at preserving the environment and handling climate change by switching to clean energy and investing in the renewable one. He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to continue boosting cooperation in the environmental and climate field.

Foreign Minister holds meeting with Libyan counterpart

Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani today held a meeting with Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Najla El-Mangoush.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed fraternal relations binding both countries, as well aspects of cooperation across all fields and ways of enhancing joint ties to serve common interests.

They alsi discussed developments in Libya and international efforts to maintain security, peace and stability there towards reaching a political solution to the current crisis, in a way that safeguards Libya’s sovereignty and stability and stop any interference in its internal affairs and paves the way for parliamentary elections as planned.

Dr. Alzayani and his counterpart also discussed political developments in the Arab regions, efforts to reinforce Arab unity and push pan-Arab action forward, in addition to other regional and international issues.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Head of the Arab-African Affairs Department Ahmed Mohammed Al Tarifi.

From the Libyan side, the meeting was attended by International Cooperation Deputy Director Ashraf Mohammed, Charge d’Affaires Khalifa Mohammed Abu Harara and the accompanying delegation.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Meets Korean Minister of Commerce

Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro affirmed the strong relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of South Korea.

This came during a meeting with Korean Minister of Trade Ahn Dukgeung, in the presence of Ambassador Fatima Abdulla Aldhaen, and a number of officials from both sides, on the sidelines of the official visit of the Bahraini economic delegation to the Republic of South Korea.

The minister hailed Bahraini-Korean relations, noting the role of mutual visits in enhancing commercial and industrial cooperation.

Oman and Etihad Rail, Vale Sign MoU

Oman and Etihad Rail Company, the developer and operator of the UAE-Oman Rail Network, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vale, to explore utilizing rail to transport iron ore and its derivatives between Oman and the UAE, connecting Vale’s industrial complex in Sohar Port and Freezone to its planned mega-industrial complex in the UAE.

This agreement reflects the logistical importance that the project will provide to major international players in several different sectors, as they stand to benefit significantly from the competitive advantages and economic incentives of the project.

The MoU was signed by Ahmed Al Musawa Al Hashemi, CEO of Oman and Etihad Rail Company, and Rogerio Nogueira, Director of Business Development at Vale.

Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will work to develop integrated logistics solutions that connect Vale’s industrial complex in Sohar Port and Freezone and transport the company’s iron ore products and derivatives between the company’s Sohar hub and various factories and distribution centers.

Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Chairman of Oman and Etihad Rail Company, said, “The agreement is in line with our desire to continue to work on and establish strategic partnerships with major companies in the UAE and Oman, supporting economic growth, continued development and investment in both countries,.”

On his turn, Ahmed Al Musawa Al Hashemi, CEO of the Oman and Etihad Rail Company, commented, “We are proud to partner with a leading international company like Vale, which has a long history and extensive global experience in the production of iron, utilizing rail as a primary means of transportation for its logistical operations. The MoU highlights the interest of potential users in utilizing the UAE-Oman Railway Network and benefiting from its fast, sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective services.”

Commenting on the MoU, Rogério Nogueira, Product and Operations Manager at Vale said that the agreement supports Vale’s plans to develop industrial complexes in the UAE and Oman to produce low-carbon products for the steelmaking industry. He added that Vale’s partnership with Oman and Etihad Rail Company reinforces the regional logistics progress, which enables various economic and trade activities, and provides several benefits, including creating new job opportunities and providing high-quality transport solutions.
