Police in Jazan Region Arrests Citizen for Attempting to Sell 114 kg of Khat

Dhamad police, in Jazan Region, arrested a citizen for possession of 114 kg of khat, hidden in the vehicle he was driving. He was arrested and referred to the public prosecution.

The security authorities urge all citizens and residents to report any drug selling or smuggling activity by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and Eastern Province regions, and 999 for the rest of the Kingdom’s regions, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control number is 995 and the e-mail: 995@gdnc.gov.sa. KSrelief Team Meets with WFP Officials in Sudan

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) team met yesterday in Port Sudan with the Head of the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) in Port Sudan, Hafiz Ibrahim, and WFP Head of Emergencies in Sudan, Abraham Abatneh.

The KSrelief team reviewed the centre’s work for the Sudanese people and the amount of Saudi aid provided through the Saudi relief airlift operated by KSrelief, to alleviate the impact of the current crisis on the Sudanese people.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to provide urgent humanitarian aid to the affected and internally displaced people in Sudan through the joint efforts of KSrelief and WFP and to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination to deliver the necessary assistance to those who are in need in various conflict areas in Sudan.

Foreign Ministry Follows up on Storming Jordanian Embassy and Residence of Head of Military Office of Kuwaiti Embassy in Khartoum, Expresses Kingdom’s Rejection of All Forms of Violence, Vandalism against Diplomatic Missions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is following up closely on storming the Jordanian embassy and the residence of the head of the military office in the Kuwaiti embassy in Khartoum, Sudan.

Expressing the Kingdom’s total rejection of all forms of violence and vandalism towards diplomatic missions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands that all Sudanese parties commit to de-escalation as per the outcomes of the recent Jeddah talks and engage in political tracks to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the crisis in Sudan.

KSrelief Members Meet IOM Representative in Sudan

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) members met with the International Organisation for Migration representative in Sudan, Bernard Lamy, yesterday in Port Sudan.

They discussed the Kingdom’s efforts to assist the Sudanese people, as well as ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination to support internally displaced people and groups affected by the crisis in Sudan.

Lamy praised the Kingdom for providing aid to the Sudanese people, which, he said, will improve the living conditions of the affected population.

The Minister of Electricity receives the delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce

The Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhel, received the Vice Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce for Middle East Affairs, Steve Lotus.

The Ministry of Electricity said in a statement, “During the meeting, they discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of industries related to the electricity sector, and the importance of the participation and presence of American companies in order to achieve the requirements for the development of this vital sector, which is directly related to citizens.”

The Minister stressed the importance of taking into account the high specifications and acceptable costs in addition to the speed of implementation, indicating that the central directives focus on direct contracting with manufacturers without intermediaries to ensure integrity and transparency in these contracts, reiterating his call for the participation of major US companies in the tenders and invitations announced by the Ministry.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Lower at 11206 Points

Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading lower today, losing 24.18 points to close at 11,206 points.

The total value of trading reported was SAR 6.9 billion, while the total number of shares traded was 241 million.

The Saudi Parallel Market Index (NOMU) ended the day by gaining 116,89 points to close at 20,682.62 points, with a valuation of SAR 59.4 million and an overall tally of more than 450,000 stocks.

Transport Ministry Highlights National Programme for Digital Economy in Ibra

Two separate meeting were held here today between Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology with students of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) at Ibra and students of A’Sharqiyah University.

During the meetings, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology reviewed the Executive Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies and the National Programme for Digital Economy. It also touched on developing cybersecurity and highlighted the National Digital Transformation Programme.

State Council, Shura Council Committees Conclude Debate on Social Protection Law, Labour Law

Joint committees from the State Council and the Shura Council today finalized the study of disputed items on the draft “Social Protection Law” and “Labour Law” that were referred by the Council of Ministers.

The joint committees held a number of meetings on articles that raised disagreement between the two councils. The meetings were held in the presence of the members of the two councils, the Secretary-General of the State Council and the Secretary-General of the Shura Council.

Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Harthy, Chairman of the Economic Committee at the State Council, affirmed that, through the joint committees, the two councils reached consensus on all articles of disagreement in the abovementioned laws.

The report of those joint committees will be presented to the two councils’ joint session scheduled to be held later this month (May 2023).

HH Sayyid Fahd Receives Shura Council Chairman, Members of Council’s Office

HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, and some members of the Council of Ministers today received Khalid Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of the Shura Council, and members of the Shura Council’s Office.

The meeting was held within the framework of joint coordination between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman.

Then, the two sides held a joint meeting, as stipulated by in the Basic Law of the State and Council of Oman’s Law. The meeting aimed to enhance the process of continuous coordination among all establishments of the state. It underlined a conviction on the need to arrive at common visions for supporting programmes to promote economic and social aspects.

At the outset of the meeting, HH Sayyid Fahd commended the Shura Council’s stance in cooperating with the government for maintaining efforts to serve Oman and its citizens, while at the same time advancing the supreme interest of the country.

HH Sayyid Fahd spoke about a number of points that enhance cooperation between the two councils within their strive to consolidate joint coordination.

During the joint meeting, emphasis was laid on the government’s giving priority to initiatives that support the role of the Shura Council as a partner in the national action aimed at implementing the plans of comprehensive development.

In pursuance of this approach, service ministers will answer Shura Council requests to present and discuss ministerial statements on ways to carry out projects that focus on providing the best services to citizens. This is in addition to dealing positively with the Shura Council’s proposals about plans and programmes that are implemented at each stage.

The joint meeting reviewed the agenda, which included many topics, among them steps to activate the role of the joint ministerial coordination committee.

The panel has a mandate to enhance joint cooperation between the two sides towards promoting the goals of sustainable development.

On its part, the Shura Council would continue to spread social awareness about all that provides a realistic representation of the joint national action.

The Chairman of Shura Council and members of the Shura Council’s office underscored the significance of the meeting. They touched on various visions for maintaining joint coordination between the Council of Ministers and the Shura Council. They also expressed thanks to the government and its enlightened leadership for their keenness on consolidating pillars of constructive cooperation between the two councils. They expressed the confidence that the outcome of the meeting would enhance joint coordination aimed at maintaining Oman’s accomplishments made as part of its march of progress and prosperity.

Oman Participates in Meeting of Arab League’s Permanent Representatives

The Sultanate of Oman today participated in meeting of the Arab League’s permanent representatives, in preparation for the Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting, which precedes the 32nd Arab Summit.

Abdullah Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League chaired Oman’s delegation in the meeting, which was held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
