Syria condemns act of insulting Holy Quran by extremist with permission of Swedish government

Syria has condemned in the strongest terms the disgraceful act of insulting the Holy Quran on the morning of Eid al-Adha by an extremist with the permission and approval of the Swedish government.

“The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the disgraceful act of insulting the Holy Quran in the morning of the holiest day for millions of Muslims by an extremist with the permission and approval of the Swedish government,” an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement to SANA.

“This crime, apart from offending the feelings of millions of Muslims and the sentiments of love and respect between religions, unequivocally illustrates the immoral level to which Western governments have descended, and the hypocrisy and lies of the values they claim, which have not been reached even by the most extreme groups that are very far from the humanitarian and spiritual values”, the sources added.

The source added that “Western governments, which suffer from the complex of civilizational superiority, must stop spreading and fueling feelings of hatred among peoples, and know that the freedom of some stops at the limits of others’ freedom and the respect for their feelings, and therefore they cannot in any way justify their crime by attacking the Holy Quran.”

It is noteworthy that there have been many popular and official positions of condemnation and denunciation by Arab and Islamic countries after an extremist burned a copy of the Holy Quran in front of the Stockholm Central Mosque in Sweden after the blessed Eid al-Adha prayer yesterday.

Russian lawmakers condemn Swedish approval of demonstration where Quran burned – statement

The Russian State Duma voted on Thursday to condemn the Swedish authorities’ permitting of a demonstration in Stockholm at which the Quran was burned on the major Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

A small Quran-burning demonstration, which was authorized by the Swedish police, was held in downtown Stockholm on Wednesday. The organizer, a 37-year-old immigrant who had previously been denied a permit for a similar action, pulled pages from the Islamic holy book and set them on fire. As well, before burning the book, he placed bacon in it, which represented an extremely offensive gesture toward Muslim believers.

“State Duma members resolutely condemn yet another act of desecration, which was approved by the Swedish authorities, and call on them to take measures to prevent any human rights violations or insults to the religious feelings of Muslims,” the lower house of Russia’s parliament said in a statement.

According to the statement, such actions “may incite extremist manifestations as they grossly violate the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter.”

Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin had previously initiated the drafting of such a statement. The senior Russian lawmaker expressed the opinion that parliamentarians should not refrain from discussing the issue, as long as European nations “infringe on fundamental human rights.” He denounced the violation of believers’ rights on the festive day for Muslims, calling it inadmissible. “Can you imagine this happening in enlightened Europe, as they are so fond of calling it?” he asked rhetorically.

Sabbagh: Improving humanitarian situation in Syria requires bringing sustainable solutions in support of early recovery projects

Syria condemns in the strongest terms the crimes and illegal practices of the Israeli entity in the occupied Syrian Golan, calling on the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities, put an end to all policies of occupation , and hold the perpetrators accountable, said Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, during a session of the UN Security Council.

Sabbagh stated that the humanitarian needs in Syria are increasing with more limited access to basic services, adding that there has been no progress at all in delivering humanitarian aid across routes to people in need due to the obstruction of terrorist groups.

The limited increase in the number of early recovery projects with the small increase in funding made them not meet the minimum required, and cannot reflect a significant improvement in meeting the enormous humanitarian needs in Syria, Sabbagh highlighted.

Ambassador Sabbagh went on to say that all donor conferences cannot compensate for what has been stolen from the Syrian wealth by the foreign occupation forces over the years of the crisis.

He reiterated that the destructive policies of the US towards Syria is the reason behind instability and insecurity state experienced by millions of Syrians, which turned a large part of them into refugees and displaced persons.

Improving the humanitarian situation in Syria requires bringing sustainable solutions in support of early recovery projects that help the Syrians, Sabbagh concluded.

The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, called for adherence to the approach of unity, harmony, patience and compassion.

He continued: “The approval of the country’s budget for three years is a different gesture from all previous budgets, as the political forces agreed on this step in support of the government’s stability and its ability to move forward towards the country’s economic reform path, since an important part of the budget has been prepared for investment projects, most of which seek to complete lagging projects.

The Iraqi Govt Expresses Its Condemnation Of The Burning Of Copies Of Qur’an By Some Mentally Ill People

The Iraqi government has expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of what some mentally ill people have done, by burning copies of the Holy Qur’an, in a public manner full of hatred and defiance of all virtuous and human values that urge respect for religions and holy Books.

Government spokesman Basim Al-Awadi said in a statement, “The Iraqi government expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of what some mentally ill people have done, by burning copies of the Holy Qur’an, in a public manner full of hatred and defiance of all virtuous and human values that urge respect for religions and holy Books.”

He added, “The Iraqi government believes that this heinous act hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims, but rather offended the Western peoples themselves, who have long boasted of embracing diversity, respecting the beliefs of others, and protecting religions and the rights,” pointing out that “these actions reflect a hateful aggressive spirit that has nothing to do with freedom of expression, but rather an act of racism and incitement to violence and hatred.”

He explained, “These irresponsible actions are rejected by lofty human values and rejected by the principles of respect for diversity and the beliefs of others, which have always been defended by the Holy Qur’an, and all religions lived in the shadow of the civilization from which their brightest days emerged, and allowing these ignorant extremists to provoke believers and commit their foolishness without deterrence will drag us once another to the quagmire of terrorism and extremism from which the world is still groaning, and without a doubt the parties that stand behind these people or that allow them and tempt them to continue their foolishness will bear all the negative consequences that ensue, directly or indirectly,

Al-Awadi called on the concerned governments to take the initiative and deter this group of extremists from continuing their misdeeds and pushing everyone towards results that no one wants.
