Djiboutian Islamic Affairs Minister Commends Saudi Arabia’s Efforts in Serving Islam, Muslims, Care for Two Holy Mosques

Jeddah– Djiboutian Minister of Islamic Affairs, Culture and Waqf Moumin Hasan Barreh has commended the efforts exerted by the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims and in caring for the Two Holy Mosques, in addition to its continuous care and support for the Islamic world and Muslims across the globe, stressing his country’s keenness to benefit from the experience and long history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims and spreading the values of tolerance and moderation.

Following a meeting with Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh yesterday, Barreh praised the distinguished and deep-rooted ties between his country and Saudi Arabia in various fields.

He also voiced his country’s approval to the precautionary procedures that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia adopted during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic regarding Hajj and umrah, which made Muslims avoid harm, until these procedures were lifted and umrah performers and pilgrims were allowed to return under health conditions that are necessary for their health.

The Djiboutian minister extended his gratitude and appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts and historical stances that supported Djibouti over decades, stressing his ministry’s keenness to further enhance communication with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Narcotics Control Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle About 500,000 Amphetamine Tablets

Riyadh– The official spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) Major Mohammed Al-Nujaidi stated that the security follow-up to the drug smuggling and promotion networks targeting the security of the Kingdom and its youth, resulted in the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle about (456,000) amphetamine tablets hidden in machines, equipment and spare parts for elevators, and the arrest of its recipients, (3) Egyptian national, Syrian national and two citizens, in Jeddah and Riyadh.

They were arrested and legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.

Major Al-Nujaidi stressed that the Ministry of Interior, with all its security sectors, and in coordination with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, continues to confront anyone who might be tempted to target the Kingdom and its youth with drugs.

IsDB President Meets Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Saudi Arabia

Jeddah– President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasser met today in Jeddah with Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Shahin Abdullayev.

The meeting dealt with promoting cooperation to support the Republic of Azerbaijan’s development plan.

Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Dammam Completes Preparations to Hold International Video Art Forum with Participation of 33 Countries

Dammam– Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts (SASCA) in Dammam has completed its preparations to hold the International Video Art Forum under the theme “Contemplate the light… head towards imagination” early in May with the participation of 124 works of art from 33 countries at the society’s headquarters in Dammam.

Director of SASCA in Dammam Yousef Al-Harbi said that the forum seeks to highlight the cultural movement and beauty activities that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing and resuming the pattern of normal life and normal practicing of cultural work after the comprehensive success in overcoming the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

He noted that the participations carry visual depth at the technological, technical, beautiful and executive level which combines between performance, structure and animation, pointing out that the forum is an opportunity for creative people to participate and express, display, compete and check on Arab and international experiences.

OIC Secretary General Receives UAE Ambassador and Permanent Representative to OIC

Jeddah– The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, has received in his office Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the OIC.

The Secretary General commended the support provided by the Emirates to the work of the OIC, and its ongoing commitment to the Member States’ efforts for development. He expressed hope that the UAE will further its support in tackling the myriad of challenges posed to many of these states.

On his part, Sheikh Nayhan affirmed that the UAE pays attention to the work of the OIC and supports its efforts to advance the Islamic world.

The meeting also focused on issues of shared interest and ways to boost bilateral relations between the OIC and the United Arab Emirates.

SFD CEO Receives President of Oman Investment Authority

Riyadh– CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad today at the fund’s headquarters received President of Oman Investment Authority Abdulsalam Al-Murshidi and his accompanying delegation and a delegation from the Omani OQ Company, headed by Talal Al-Awfi.

The Saudi side saw the participation of a delegation from the National Companies Promotion Program, represented by CEO Badr Al-Badr, and a delegation from Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, represented by Deputy CEO Ali Mohammed Al Maddawi, where the visit included a tour to a photo gallery inside the headquarters, reviewing top SFD development projects in developing countries and their development impact on beneficiaries.

Al-Marshad and Al-Murshidi, along with participating delegations, discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the sectors of health, education, fishery in Oman, where they also reviewed the fund’s efforts and existing development projects, including the complementary works for Al-Dagem port, and a program to support small and medium enterprises that contribute to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals.

Al-Murshidi commended the efforts of SFD in supporting development projects, mainly in Oman.

SFD has been working for 45 years on supporting development projects in Oman, where these schemes are focused on the sectors of infrastructure, higher education and vocational programs and water, as well as development projects in the energy sector.

Tunis– Tunisia welcomed the announcement of the formation of a Presidential Leadership Council in the Republic of Yemen.

Riyadh Chamber Signs Cooperation Agreement with China Foreign Trade Center

Riyadh– The Riyadh Chamber today signed a cooperation agreement with the China Foreign Trade Center (Canton Fair) to enhance and expand commercial, industrial and investment relations through encouraging cooperation among businesspeople and facilitating the realization of mutual interests in a way that benefits both sides.

Vice Chairman of Riyadh Chamber Naif bin Abdullah Al-Rajhi and Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre and Spokesperson of the Canton Fair Xu Bing signed the agreement on behalf of respective institutions.

The agreement aims at enhancing relations and boosting commercial and economic cooperation among businesspeople in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and China, including the exchange of information, organizing delegations participating in the fair or other fairs that are organized by the center of its affiliate companies, offering assistance to center delegations that visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, offering assistance in organizing events and completing procedures related to government, industrial and commercial institutions, and enhancing cooperation between the two sides to conduct surveys and evaluations on the Canton Fair and other fairs organized by the center and promoting the fair on the chamber’s websites.

Saudi stock market index closes at 13621 points

Riyadh– The main Saudi stock index closed today, up 80.81 points, at 13621.08 points, with transactions worth 9.3 billion riyals.

The volume of traded shares reached 200 million shares, divided by more than 300,000 deals, in which the shares of 148 companies recorded an increase in their value, while the shares of 57 companies closed down.

The Saudi parallel stock index (Nomu) closed today, up 106.94 points, at 24,418.07 points, with transactions worth 27 million riyals, and the volume of traded shares reached more than 200,000 shares, divided by 1550 deals.

Bahrain All Share Index Falls

Manama– Bahrain All Share Index has closed at 2,100.67 points marking a decrease of 2.02 points below the previous closing, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

This decrease was due to the fall in the Financials Sector and Materials Sector.

Bahrain Islamic Index has closed at 734.42 points marking a decrease of 1.55 points below the previous closing.

Results indicated that 81 equity transactions took place with a volume of 2,429,458 worth BD 1,162,595.

Investors traded mainly in the Materials Sector representing %45.36 of the total value of securities traded.
