Riyadh, Chairman of the Saudi-Mauritanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Shura Council Assaf bin Salem Abuthnain received here today the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sidi Aali Ould Sidi Aali.

During the meeting, Abuthnain stressed the depth of bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Mauritania in various fields, citing the strength of parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and Mauritanian Parliament.

For his part, the Mauritanian Ambassador praised the level of bilateral relations between the two countries and endeavors made to strengthen them, hailing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s stances and keenness to bring about international peace and achieve world security.

During the meeting, they reviewed a number of issues of common interest at the parliamentary level, pointing to ways to activate the role of parliamentary friendship committees at the Shura Council and Mauritanian Parliament.

On the other hand, Hazza Al-Qahtani, Chairman of the Saudi-Cameroonian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, accompanied by members of the committee, held a meeting here today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Iya Tidjani.

During the meeting, Al-Qahtani affirmed the importance of the parliamentary diplomacy in discussing issues and files that enhance bilateral relations and joint cooperation, pointing to the role that parliamentary friendship committees might play in this context.

The Cameroonian Ambassador praised the great services provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to pilgrims and Umrah performers, the achievements made to serve the Two Holy Mosques and the great developments witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in various fields.

Riyadh, The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef bin Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf reaffirmed the deep-rooted fraternal ties and well-established historical relations binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait.

Commenting on the Kuwaiti Crown Prince’s current visit to the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Hajraf said: ‘the visit of Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmed Al-Jabir, the Crown Prince of Kuwait to Riyadh, his first official visit abroad since he assumed office, in his capacity as a noble guest of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, embodies noble significance and exalted contents that reflect the high-profile and prestigious status of the Kingdom to the State of Kuwait, its leadership and people’.

He added that the visit is set to consolidate the exceptional ties and principles of fraternal consultation and share the joint visions of the future to the best interests of the two countries and peoples amid the prudent instructions of the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Riyadh, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah described the visit of the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at an invitation of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, as historical to consolidate deep-rooted relations between the two countries, citing that it is Sheikh Mishal’s first official visit abroad.

In a statement on the occasion, Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled explained that the visit comes as an extension of the strong fraternal relations between the leaderships of the two countries over the ages, distinguished by the firm approach for cooperation and integration at all levels.

He added that the Saudi-Kuwaiti relations have always been a fine example to be followed as they continue to grow and strengthen, under the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

He pointed to the great development process, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador said that the signing of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council in 2018 by the Kingdom and Kuwait constitutes a new chapter in the existing and growing cooperation between the two countries, which ushers into broader horizons for economic growth.

On the other hand, the Kuwaiti ambassador pointed out that the Emir of Kuwait has appreciated, during the telephone conversation that took place between their Highnesses, the efforts made by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, citing the ‘Green Middle East initiative’, adding that Sheikh Nawaf expressed Kuwait’s willingness to work with the Kingdom to achieve the goals of the initiative.

Riyadh, President of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Rajhi has underlined the importance of the pioneering Saudi role in supporting bodies and associations working in the field of combating blindness worldwide and putting this file on the agendas of medical conferences and meetings of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Al-Rajhi explained that the IAPB, a non-profit public benefit association registered in England and has a board of trustees that includes representatives from regional presidents, is an incubator for all associations working in the field of combating blindness, and includes representatives from 7 regions, adding that the Eastern Mediterranean region includes all Arab countries (except Algeria), in addition to Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, bringing the total number of countries included to 22.

He stated that the Agency’s regional office, based at King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital, will work to increase cooperation between countries in the region and raise the level of ophthalmology and optometry health services in both the curative and preventive aspects, stressing that the Hospital plays an active role within this scope, with the follow-up and support of the Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah and the Hospital’s Board.

Dr. Al-Rajhi indicated the office will hold many activities with the participation of the King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital cadres. The Hospital has over 38 years of experience that will be utilized to support efforts to raise the level of health services for eyes and optometry in the region.

He added that the region needs to exert more efforts and boost cooperation among its representatives, in light of the insufficient information on the causes of visual impairment or blindness in the Middle East, and the lack of information with regards to the rates of diseases and services and their availability, in addition to inaccurate numbers of health practitioners in most countries.

He added that the regional office holds a meeting or workshop twice a year to discuss specific topics in cooperation with the WHO regional office. Specialists from outside and within the region are hosted to discuss developing ophthalmology and optometry services.

Dr. Al-Rajhi said the Agency will cooperate with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) to provide relief or training services in some countries if the need arises.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a pioneering country in the field of combating blindness worldwide, as the General Assembly of the World Health Organization agreed in 2006 to include combating blindness within its strategic plans and priorities for future work, based on an initiative submitted by Saudi Arabia.

Moscow, Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow, Riad Haddad, said on Tuesday that the success of presidential election in Syria affirms the Syrian people’s determination to defeat terrorism and liberate their country from occupation.

“As you saw, millions of Syrians have taken part in the election entitlement as an expression of their commitment to national unity, policy and their president Bashar al-Assad who has withstood against the 10-year terrorist war,” the Syrian Ambassador added at a press conference in Moscow upon an invitation by Rossiya Segodnya news agency.

Ambassador Haddad affirmed that the electoral process at the Syrian embassy in Moscow was held without any obstacles, adding that this entitlement, in general, was run in accordance with the Syrian constitution as scheduled.

He said that thousands of Syrians flocked from all Russian cities to their embassy in Moscow and the embassy doors were also open for media representatives.

Haddad added that the election process in Syria was also organized at the highest level and were accompanied by delegations from the Russian Duma and the Federation of Russia, as these delegations observed the level of Syria’s commitment to the rules governing the electoral process as well as the transparency and integrity of the election as they were free from faults, unlike many elections in the countries that accuse Syria.

Damascus, The Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2005, and ratified by Syria in 2008, calls for the protection and promotion of cultural diversity, increasing awareness of its value locally and internationally, creating conditions for the flourishing of cultures and their interaction, and encouraging dialogue between them.

In the Conference of Parties Signatories to the Agreement in its eighth session, organized by UNESCO with the participation of Syria, Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh , affirmed in a speech via Internet that cultural diversity is the distinguished feature of Syrian national identity and that the constitution applied in Syria since 2012 guaranteed the protection of this diversity with all its forms.

According to Dr. Mshaweh, the current Syrian constitution also guaranteed copyright, cultural and artistic creativity, and invention rights, referring to the issuance of the law on the protecting the rights of the author in 2013.

She added that Syria submitted its periodic report on building of capabilities in the field of monitoring policies based on the integration approach, pointing out that the immaterial Cultural Heritage Law to be , issued soon, forms the legal guarantor framework for the preservation and sustainability of the heritage.

Dr. Mshaweh concluded her speech by affirming Syria’s commitment and desire to pay the voluntary share to the Multiculturalism Fund) IFCD (for the year 2021.
