Fashion Commission to Host Fashion Futures Event in December

The Fashion Commission is pleased to announce its Fashion Futures event, which will take place at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh on the 10th and 11th December 2021. The two-day event will bring together global, regional, and local fashion communities to create a dynamic exchange of knowledge, ideas and expertise.

Fashion Futures will explore the themes of sustainability, diversity, culture, innovation and entrepreneurship, building on themes from previous events. The hybrid in-person and virtual event format will push the boundaries of possibilities enabling the flow of knowledge, innovation, and ideation from around the globe. The event will be open to not only fashion experts and professionals, but also to fashion enthusiasts, who will be able to attend and participate virtually in a series of curated on-line events and digital activations from around the world.

Fashion Futures will feature fashion’s most reputed digital disruptors, speakers, design mavericks and inspiring leaders from across the global and local fashion scene interacting in hybrid in-person and virtual panel discussions . Attendees will have the chance to learn from and engage with some of fashion’s most revered experts through hands-on workshops, masterclasses and Q&A sessions that will take place across two days at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh.

Launched in Riyadh in 2019 as the Kingdom’s first-ever dedicated fashion event, Fashion Futures was re-engineered in June 2021 as a digital platform following the appointment of Burak Cakmak as CEO of the Fashion Commission. The platform’s premier event, Fashion Future Lives: Moving Towards Sustainability, Diversity & Innovation was broadcast live from studios in New York City and Riyadh. Featuring renowned sustainability experts, conservationists and entrepreneurs, the event virtually brought together some of the world’s greatest sustainability minds to address some of the most pressing issues faced today.

Fashion Futures represents the latest development for the Fashion Commission as they continue to spearhead the growth of the Kingdom’s fashion sector. The event is set to be a one-of-a-kind fashion event in the Middle East; establishing the Kingdom as a leading regional fashion hub with a spotlight on local talents and capabilities.

Fashion Futures will take place on the 10th and 11th December 2021 at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will offer free admission to members of the public via online registration, giving them access to an exciting series of dedicated digital activations and virtual events from anywhere in the world.

ALECSO Director-General Praises KAPL’s Distinguished Knowledge and Cultural Experience

Riyadh, The Director General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO), Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, praised the distinguished knowledge and cultural experience of the King Abdulaziz Public Library (KAPL), in addition to its various cultural projects.

This came during his visit to the KAPL yesterday, as he was received KAPL’s Supervisor General Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar and a number of senior KAPL’s officials.

The visiting delegation was briefed on the knowledge and cultural services being provided by the KAPL and its extensive and knowledge experience.

RSNF, PNF Mixed Bilateral Naval Exercise Kicks Off in Pakistan

Islamabad, The Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) and the Pakistani Naval Forces, (PNF) launched today the mixed bilateral naval exercise “Naseem Al-Bahr 13 in the Republic of Pakistan with the participation of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).

The exercise commander Rear Adm. Sajer bin Rafeed Al-Anezi said that the Naseem Al-Bahr 13 maneuvers include all dimensions of naval operations, such as air, surface and subsurface wars, along with electronic warfare and mine warfare.

He added that several assumptions and formations for naval units will be implemented, as well as training on ships while sailing.

Arab Publishing Sector has Ingredients to Contribute to International Cultural Development, Says Sheikha Bedour Al Qasimi

Riyadh, President the International Publishers Association (IPA) Sheikha Bedour Al Qasimi expressed, during her speech at the Publishers Conference currently held in Riyadh, her happiness to return to the Riyadh International Book Fair and see many familiar faces in the Arab publishing world.

She said that the IPA is participating in the conference to support the meaningful dialogue towards the publishing industry in the region and the world.

It is worth mentioning that the sessions of the Publishers Conference will be held till Tuesday, as part of the activities of Riyadh International Book Fair.

Minister of Culture Inaugurates Riyadh International Book Fair 2021

Riyadh, Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia inaugurated this evening the activities of Riyadh International Book Fair 2021 at Riyadh Front.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Hassan Nazim and Iraq’s ambassador to the Kingdom, Dr. Abdul Sattar Hadi Al-Janabi, representing the Republic of Iraq, which was chosen to be the guest of honor for this year’s edition of Riyadh International Book Fair 2021.

The opening ceremony also witnessed a distinguished presence of Saudi, Arab and international cultural figures and leaders topped by Prince Turki Al-Faisal; Prince Abdurrahman bin Musaed bin Abdulaziz; Chairman of the Board of Directors of General Entertainment Authority (GEA) Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Sheik; Acting Secretary General of King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) Dr. Fahd Al-Samari; Minister of Culture of the Republic of Egypt, Dr. Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem; CEO of Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, Dr. Mohammed Hasan Alwan and a number of ambassadors, ministers and cultural officials from friendly countries.

The ceremony began with the official inauguration of the fair by the Minister of Culture followed by a tour on the pavilions and facilities of the book fair, which is considered the largest book fair in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of more than 1,000 publishing houses belonging to 30 countries from different continents of the world.

Riyadh Int’l Book Fair, which will be held from 1 to 10 October, 2021 will host a number of seminars and qualitative evenings that enrich its comprehensive cultural program.

On the sidelines of the book fair, the Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission will organize the International Publishers Conference, on October 4-5, which will be the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and seeks to reformulate the future of the Arab publishing industry.

Riyadh International Book Fair 2021 is held on an area of more than 36,000 square meters and is scheduled to receive its visitors daily from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm.

UAE Kicks off Expo 2020 Dubai with Participation of Saudi Arabia

GEA Launches “Happiness Makers” Initiative to Support Entertainment Sector

Riyadh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Sheikh has launched the “Makers of Happiness” initiative.

The launching ceremony was held by GEA in the presence of the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi; the Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) Dr. Ahmed Al-Fuhaid and the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Kingdom Ludovic Pouille.

To mark the occasion, GEA Chairman confirmed that the “Happiness Makers” initiative aims to qualify and train human cadres specialized in the entertainment sector and to enable young Saudi talents to fill specialized jobs in the sector, as part of its strategy that focuses on developing and qualifying the national cadres.

He also said that the Authority has been working on providing various training, qualification and educational programs to enhance the sustainability of the entertainment sector industry in the Kingdom, through national cadres specialized in organizing and managing events and recreational activities with all its important specialties to activate the sector.

The launching ceremony of the initiative witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the GEA Chairman and the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development. The MoU aims at developing programs and initiatives to develop human capital between the Ministry and the Authority.

Al-Sheikh also patronized the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding with the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf), aiming at studying training needs and supporting employment in the entertainment sector, and a third memorandum of understanding on training and developing human cadres between GEA and TVTC.

GEA and Al Hokair Group for Tourism and Development also signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at cooperating to develop educational programs that end with employment.

In memoranda dealing with the same subject, the Executive Vice President for GEA Human Capital Development, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shehri signed several memoranda with each of the Saudi Entertainment Ventures Company (SEVEN), represented by Chief Operating Officer Assem bin Othman Al-Jubeir and Senior Director of the Talent Development Department at Red Sea Development Company Zaher Felemban, separately.

The initiative will support more than 100,000 young Saudi men and women to engage in work in the entertainment sector in the Kingdom, qualified with various training courses and specialized diplomas that are of paramount importance in the entertainment sector, starting from crowd management; the management of entertainment centers; maintenance and public safety in entertainment centers; organizing and marketing events; fellowship programs that would transfer knowledge and the scholarship program with its first phase began in cooperation with Qiddiya Investment Company, as 60 male and female students were enrolled in the University of Central Florida to the Entertainment Leaders Program which will qualify a group of executive leaders in the sector in cooperation with the best universities specialized in leadership development and leading international companies in the entertainment sector.

Saudi Arabia Supports 3 Initiatives to Protect Marine Environment at IMO

London, In the presence of Saudi Ambassador to UK Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, who is also Chairman of the Transport General Authority and Kitack Lim, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization in London, signed three agreements to support initiatives related to protecting and developing the marine environment, in a way that conforms to the National Strategy for Transport and Logistic Services and contributes to realizing the Saudi Vision 2030.

The first initiative (Glofouling) aims at protecting marine system from paint used on the body of ships and limiting the use of some kinds of paints that might harm marine life, mainly parts of ships that are underwater.

The second initiative (Glolitter) aims at protecting marine environment from various types of wastes, in a way that enhances efforts to protect fish wealth and marine life, including developing countries and small island countries.

Meanwhile, the third initiative (IMO Cares) is an initiative to reduce ships’ emissions and seeks to join efforts to coordinate joint action within one system to protect all marine areas in the world and develop the marine sector.

Saudi Music Commission Dedicates Patriotic Song to Green Falcons

Riyadh, The Music Commission dedicated a patriotic song to the first Saudi national football team to encourage players during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification process.

It will be performed during a musical event held before and during their match against Uzbekistan on Tuesday at Mrsool Park Stadium in Riyadh.

The commission has produced the song, performed by the Saudi artist Ayed Youssef, written by Saudi poet Ahmed Alawi and composed by Rakan, in a bit to create an encouraging atmosphere during the match, arouse fans’ enthusiasm, and praise the team’s achievements and talents.

The lyrics included verses highlighting the close and long-established relation between culture and sports.

The Music Commission has allocated a stage on the thresholds of the VIP areas of MRSOOL Park Stadium for a musical band to perform before the start of the match and during halftime.

The first part will feature the young artist Mohammed Alshdoukhi, followed by Ayed Youssef during halftime. The two artists will perform their patriotic songs with original melodies combining Saudi folklore and contemporary art.

The commission will also give away scarves to the fans in the stadium, containing the logos of the Music Commission, the Arabic Calligraphy Initiative, and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, in addition to other Saudi cultural elements.

The participation of the Music Commission stems from its keenness to interact with national events and present music in a cultural mold, serving the national heritage and enhancing the interrelationship between arts and culture with all social fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
