KACST Launches “SCANIT” Initiative to Improve Safety of Computers Imported to Kingdom

Riyadh– The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has launched the “SCANIT” initiative, aiming at improving the safety of the technical devices imported to the Kingdom, enhancing the national modern systems testing capabilities and ensuring the efficiency of the supply chain.

The initiative was launched during the LEAP Conference, in the presence of KACST Vice President of Future Economies Sector, Mariam Nouh, and Director General of Intel Corporation in Saudi Arabia Ahmad Al-Abd Al-Jabbar.

This initiative, in cooperation with Intel, aims at protecting technological devices from penetration and a change in quality when transferred from the manufacturer to the Kingdom through the supply chain technology for PC and Laptops.

This initiative is a continuation of the cooperation between KACST and Intel in computing, artificial intelligence and data solutions.

Riyadh– The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sent a cable of condolence to President Dr. Arif Alvi of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the death of former President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf.

In his message, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques said, “We have received the news of the death of former President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, and we send our deepest and sincere condolences to Your Excellency, the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the family of the deceased, we pray to Allah Almighty to bestow mercy upon his soul.”

Mikdad : Syrian government ready to provide the required facilities for international aid

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, held a meeting on Monday at the building of the foreign ministry with representatives of the UN organizations , their offices operating in Syria and non-governmental organizations, briefing them on the government’s measures taken upon the directives of President Bashar al-Assad to confront the repercussions of the natural disaster that struck Syria on Monday dawn .

Minister Mikdad underlined the Syrian government’s readiness to provide all required facilities to international organizations who wish to provide humanitarian aid and the necessary needs for the affected Syrian citizens, pointing to the impacts of unilateral sanctions that increase the suffering.

In turn, representatives of the international organizations expressed their deep condolences to the families of the victims, hoping speedy recovery for the wounded and their readiness to provide the necessary basic needs for the affected people.

Cuban President expresses his country’s solidarity with Syria over the earthquake

Havana, SANA- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed his condolence to the people and government of Syria over the earthquake which caused material and human damage.

“I express my condolences to the Syrian people and government, as well as our solidarity and readiness to cooperate in providing assistance to those affected,” Canel said on his Twitter page on Monday .

In turn, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed, on his Twitter page, his country’s deepest condolences to the Syrian people and government, stressing its readiness to cooperate in facing the repercussions of the earthquake, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

President of UAE instructs to send urgent supplies and Rescue team to the affected from earthquake

Abu Dhabi, SANA- The United Arab Emirates announced its intention to set up a field hospital and send a search, rescue team and relief supplies to Syria in order to help it overcome the repercussions of the earthquake.

The Emirates News Agency said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the UAE, instructed to establish a field hospital and send a search and rescue team, in addition to urgent relief supplies to those affected by the earthquake in “the brotherly Syrian Arab Republic”.

The agency added the step comes in the context of relations that bind Syria and the UAE.

The Vatican News Agency quoted the Secretary of State of the Apostolic See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin as saying, “The Pope offered his condolences to the Syrian people,” stressing that he stands by all those affected.”

Parolin added that the Pope renewed his spiritual solidarity with the long-suffering Syrian people.

China ready to send emergency humanitarian assistance to Syria

Beijing, SANA-China has expressed its readiness to send urgent humanitarian assistance to Syria to face the effects of the earthquake that hit it on Monday dawn.

“Beijing is ready to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Syria according to the needs,” Xinhua news agency quoted a spokesman for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Xu Wei, as saying on Monday.

China expresses its sympathies and concerns over the casualties and property losses caused by the earthquake in Syria, Xu said, noting that his country is in communication with it.
