Saudi Foreign Minister Meets, Holds An Official Session of Talks with Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

Seoul– Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, during his official visit to the Republic of Korea.

The two sides held an official session of talks, during which they reviewed aspects of relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Korea, and ways to strengthen and develop them in all areas of cooperation, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international issues of common interest.

The session was attended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Sami Al-Sadhan, and the Director-General of the Minister of Foreign Affairs office, Abdulrahman Al-Daoud.

Bahrain Condemns Terrorist Attack Against Federal Police in Iraq

Manama– Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that targeted members of the Federal Police forces in Salah al-Din Governorate, Iraq, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries, expressing its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Government, the Iraqi people and the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Bahrain’s stand and its full solidarity with the Government of Iraq in its war against terrorism, and its support for the measures it is taking to preserve its security, stability, unity and territorial integrity, renewing its call for intensifying and concerted international efforts to eliminate extremist terrorist organizations, and dry up their financial and intellectual sources.

Major fire rages on in Greek capital Athens, 12 injured

Athens– A major blaze in the Greek capital Athens continued to burn on Wednesday, with flames reaching residential areas and destroying homes, the dpa reported.

Nine firefighting planes and seven helicopters were deployed to battle the flames at first light, a fire service spokesman said Wednesday morning. More than 100 fire engines were also at the scene.

Three firefighters and nine residents suffered mild injuries and were taken to hospital with breathing difficulties, state broadcaster ERT reported.

Seven localities and a children’s hospital were evacuated.

Thick brown plumes of smoke could be seen on Wednesday morning from almost all parts of Athens, which was forecasted to reach a high of 31 degrees Celsius.

Parts of the motorway linking the city to the airport had to be closed due to reduced visibility. Firefighting efforts are difficult because there is no fire front, but rather numerous blazes raging in forested areas and neighbourhoods in the Penteli area of north-east Athens near Mount Pentelicus, ERT reported.

A fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon with the cause unknown and was initially small, according to witnesses. Strong winds fanned the flames into a major blaze.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Higher at 11,864.34 Points

Riyadh– Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading higher here today, gaining 102.99 points to close at 11,864.34 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 7.9 billion, while the toll of shares traded was 217 million, divided into over 410,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Market Index (NOMU) ended the day losing 55.39 points, to close at 20,760.82 points, with a valuation of SAR 27.9 million and an overall tally of more than 410,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 2,086 deals.

Amman Stock Market Ends Trading Up

Amman– The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) closed trading session up today by 0.43 percent at 2,586 points.

A total of 4.4 million shares were traded through 4,271 deals at a trading value of JOD8.2 million, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.

The closing prices of 39 company shares traded in the market recorded gains, while 30 others went down. The prices of 36 firm shares remained stable.

World Medical and Recovery Tourism Revenues Estimated at $100b Annually, Arab Tourism Organization Reports

Jeddah– Dr. Bandar Al Fihaid, President of the Arab Tourism Organization (ATO) disclosed today that the revenues of the medical and recovery tourism throughout the world is estimated at nearly $100 billion annually and expected to double over the next ten years.

In a report, he said the size of Arab tourists expenditure amounts to nearly $30 billion, indicating the importance of this pattern to get it developed in the Arab region and benefit from its impacts on the economy and investment.

Speaking on the eve of the 7th World Medical Tourism Summit scheduled for Amman, Jordan, from 23 – 24 July, 2022, Dr. Al Fihaid said more than 60 experts and specialists in the field of medical and recovery tourism representing 20 Arab and world countries are expected to take part in the event.

Highlighting the fundamentals of such kind of tourism, he said the Arab world is characterized by the availability of natural fundamentals including mineral-rich hot fountains and sea water in addition to advanced medical centers equipped with medical and scientific skilled personnel in this field.

Recently, a number of Arab countries have put long-run strategies and plans to lay the necessary foundations for a state-of-the-art medical and recovery tourism, he said, citing Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and UAE.

Diriyah Gate Development Authority, Saudi Investment Recycling Company Sign Waste Management Agreement

Riyadh– The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) for the handling and processing of all waste within the authority’s jurisdiction. The agreement also covers future cooperation between DGDA and SIRC on research, investment opportunities, deployment of solutions, operations, and management.

The MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of DGDA, Jerry Inzerillo, and his SIRC counterpart Eng. Ziyad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha

Under the scope of the MoU, DGDA, and SIRC will collaborate on citywide waste management solutions that adhere to world-class Practices for handling, recycling, and disposing of all kinds of waste. This will be done through using cutting-edge, efficient technologies, cooperating on technical and investigative studies, and knowledge and skill-sharing workshops.

Jerry Inzerillo stated that the partnership with SIRC reflects DGDA’s commitment to achieving environmental sustainability, maximizing returns on investment in waste management, and taking all the necessary measures to ensure the quality-of-life standards set in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and meet the satisfaction of Diriyah’s community.
