NAUSS to Organize Seminar in Tunisia Discussing Rehabilitation and Development of Female Workers in Prisons and Rehabilitation Institutions

Tunis– Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) is organizing a five-day seminar on how to rehabilitate and develop female workers in prisons and rehabilitation institutions, in cooperation with the Tunisian General Directorate of Prisons and Rehabilitation, on Monday, May 30, 2022, in Tunisia.

The seminar aims to identify the latest methods of administrative and security organization for women’s prisons and reform centers and to introduce the modern skills needed for female workers in prisons to raise the level of performance, in addition to identifying the most prominent challenges in prisons and means to address them, with a focus on the latest rehabilitation and reform programs and reintegration provided to female inmates.

The seminar also aims to identify the methods of psychological and social care for the released inmates and to discuss the strategies and methods developed for effective security management in prisons and rehabilitation facilities, and the reform, rehabilitation, and follow-up programs for female inmates.

NAUSS is keen, through its studies and research activities, to promote and develop alternatives to freedom-depriving punishments within criminal legislation and to allow criminal justice agencies to apply them as alternative punishments in addition to working on “humanizing punishment”. In this context, the university discussed several master’s and Ph.D. theses and issued several refereed scientific studies in that regard.

SAUDIA Set to Operate a Total of 540 Extra Flights for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Football Matches

During an MoU signing ceremony in Doha, Qatar on May 26, the Chief Executive Officer of SAUDIA, Captain Ibrahim S. Koshy and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, signed the exclusive agreement to enable both carriers to partner on the exclusive flights.

Starting from November 21, 2022, the 60 daily flights between Riyadh-Doha-Riyadh and Jeddah-Doha-Jeddah will also include an added benefit of a dedicated on-ground transportation between the airport and stadium.

3 Saudi Ports Hit World Records on CPPI 2021

Riyadh– In yet another remarkable achievement, Saudi ports are on top of global indicators, as 3 of Saudi ports are leading the second edition of the Container Port Performance Index 2021 (CPPI 2021), an indicator produced by the Transport Global Practice of the World Bank in collaboration with the Maritime, Trade and Supply Chain division of S&P Global Market Intelligence, which is intended to serve as reference point for improvement for key stakeholders in the global economy.

Despite the unprecedented challenges of 2021, which effected the world on every aspect, according to the CPPI, the 3 Saudi ports record exceptional scores that indicate ports’ performance efficiency, as the King Abdullah Port ranks 1st on the list of 370 global ports, while Jeddah Islamic Port ranks 8th, and King Abdulaziz Port placed at 14th, reflecting an outstanding performance within the maritime transport in Saudi Arabia.

KSrelief Mobile Medical Clinics in Wallan Camp Continue Providing Services to Displaced People

Hajjah– The mobile medical clinics of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in the Waalan camp, in Hajjah Governorate, Yemen, continued providing treatment services to the beneficiaries.

During the period from 4 to 10 May 2022, the clinic received 143 individuals with various health conditions and provided them with the necessary health services.

National Debt Management Center Completes the Funding activities for 2022 Debt Repayments

Riyadh– The National Debt Management Center (NDMC) announced the completion of arranging local Sukuk issuances under the Saudi Arabian Government SAR-denominated Sukuk Program for the debt principal repayments as per the financing needs for the year 2022, with a funding amount of approximately SAR 43 bn. NDMC stated that it may, in accordance with the Annual Borrowing Plan, continue to consider additional funding activities subject to market conditions and through available funding channels locally or internationally through debt markets and government alternative financing. This is to ensure Kingdom’s continuous presence in debt markets and manage the debt repayments for the coming years, in addition to, facilitating the financing of capital expenditures and infrastructure projects which will contribute to promote economic growth while taking into account market movements and the debt portfolio risk management.

As of today, the Kingdom’s issuances for the year 2022 were in the local market as it is relatively stable in comparison to international markets. These issuances included early repurchase of some of the Kingdom’s debt instruments and pre-funding transactions for maturities due in 2023, 2024 and 2026.

In light of this, the NDMC CEO Hani Al Medaini commented that NDMC is working on expanding the investors base, strengthening communication channels, reaching new geographic areas, and utilizing the arising opportunities in local and international markets in accordance with risk management and debt strategy. He also added that the NDMC is working on attracting new capital, and international financial institutions to take part in the Primary Dealers Program, to capitalize on the debt instruments arranged by the NDMC.

OIC Celebrates African Union’s Founding Day

Jeddah– The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has valued the social, cultural and economic achievements of the African continent, which is rich in the diversity of its natural resources, cultural heritage and noble values common to the peoples of Africa.

During its participation, the member states of the African Group, the African Union, and the countries of the whole world emphasized the revival of “Africa Day” which falls on May 25 of each year, in remembrance of the founding day of the Organization of African Unity on May 25, 1963, whose name was later changed to the African Union.

The OIC stressed its commitment to mobilizing efforts to provide support of all kinds to the peoples of the continent in order to contribute to the development of the economies of its member states in order to develop their structures and infrastructure and to advance the vital sectors of these countries in various fields, including education, agriculture, science and technology, media, culture and social affairs.

The OIC indicated that it will spare no effort towards directing its various development projects to serve the development goals in Africa, in addition to the efforts made by the OIC’s institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and the Statistical Research Center SESRIC, the Islamic Solidarity Fund and its Waqf, to consolidate the objectives of the charter of the organization and all its instruments.

HRC, OIC-IPHRC Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Jeddah– The Human Rights Commission (HRC) and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-IPHRC) signed here today a memorandum of understanding for technical cooperation in the field of human rights.

The MoU was co-signed by HRC Vice President Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Khayyal, and OIC-IPHRC’s representative Dr. Haji Asikul, during the 19th Regular Session of the OIC-IPHRC.

The memorandum aims to enhance technical cooperation between the two sides.

KSrelief Launches Voluntary Medical Camping for Cosmetics, Burns and Malformation Surgeries in Aden

Aden– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on Sunday launched a voluntary medical campaign for cosmetics, burns and malformation surgeries in Aden with the participation of 18 volunteers from various specializations.

Since the beginning of the campaign, the KSrelief-affiliated voluntary medical team has inspected 135 cases and conducted 21 surgeries that were all successful.

Yemeni Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Dahhan expressed happiness for launching this noble humanitarian project that is generously funded by KSrelief, under which the team will be dealing with after-burn malformations and skin cases that require specialists.

For his part, Director of KSrelief in Aden Saleh Al-Thibani said that this project will benefit the needy patients that cannot afford the costs of cosmetics, burns and malformation surgeries and will provide necessary medicines.

NDMC Closes the May 2022 Issuance under Saudi Arabian Government SAR-denominated Sukuk Program

Riyadh– The National Debt Management Center (NDMC) announced today the closure of May 2022 issuance under the Saudi Arabian Government SAR-denominated Sukuk Program. The issuance size was set at SAR 14.953 Bn (Fourteen billion and nine hundred fifty-three million Saudi Riyals).

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Sukuk issuance was divided into three tranches as follows: the first tranche has a size of SAR 10.055 Bn (Ten billion and fifty-five million Saudi Riyals) maturing in (2032); the second tranche has a size of SAR 2.184 Bn (Two billion and one hundred eighty-four million Saudi Riyals) maturing in (2037), and the third tranche has a size of SAR 2.715 Bn (Two billion and seven hundred fifteen million Saudi Riyals) maturing in (2049).

Saudi Arabia’s Attorney General Holds Meeting with Chairs of Eurojust Counter-Terrorism, Economic Crimes Teams in The Hague

The Hague– On the sidelines of his visit to the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) in The Hague, the Attorney General Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has met with Hilde Vandevoorde, Chair of the Eurojust Counter-Terrorism Team and Lilja Limingoja, Chair of the Economic Crimes Team.

The Eurojust made a presentation on its role in combating the crimes of terrorism and money laundering, and on the effects and criminal phenomena that threaten the security and safety of individuals and societies, especially in light of the remarkable development in the methods of perpetration that the world is witnessing recently.

Meanwhile, the International Cooperation Prosecution at the Saudi Public Prosecution gave a presentation on what the regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia entrust in protecting individuals and entities from the crimes of terrorism and money laundering, the effective legal procedures carried out by the competent authorities, including the Public Prosecution in tracking funds and their sources, and international cooperation procedures in the pursuit of perpetrators, detection and exchange crime evidence.

Also, the Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Mujib drew attention to the legislations and procedures approved and accomplished by the Kingdom related to combating money laundering and terrorist financing, with the aim of reducing the risks associated with these crimes.

Davos– Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf met here today with CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation Samaila Zubairu on the sidelines of the World Economic Conference in Davos, Switzerland.

During the meeting, they reviewed ways of cooperation between the two sides and discussed a number of issues of common interest.
