Amidst Warm Welcome that Suits them, their Achievements, Saudi Team for Science, Engineering Arrives in Saudi Arabia Following Historical Achievement in ISEF 2022

Riyadh — Members of the Saudi team for science and engineering, who won 22 awards in the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2022), arrived in Riyadh yesterday, along with Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness Creativity (Mawhiba) Eng. Faisal Al-Dweish, amidst a warm welcome at the King Khalid International Airport from education and Mawhiba officials and parents.

Mawhiba Secretary General Dr. Saud Al-Mathami extended his sincerest congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for this new historical and exceptional national achievement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in ISEF 2022.

He stressed that the support of the wise leadership to Saudis, national institutions and Mawhiba has contributed to building a promising and inspiring Saudi generation that will play a role in changing the future of the homeland and the world for the better, adding that the entire homeland is proud of each members of the Saudi team who realized an unprecedented achievement in ISEF 2022 through winning 22 awards, including the best project award, 15 grand awards and 6 special awards, beating the students of 85 countries. He also expressed optimism for a new Saudi generation full of talents, awareness and capability to accommodate the changes of the world and capable of participating in building the future of the homeland and realizing the targets and initiatives of the Saudi Vision 2030 and the prosperity of mankind.

Dr. Al-Mathami noted that what has been achieved in ISEF 2022 represents a qualitative leap in the talents, capabilities, culture and knowledge of the homeland’s people and that the future will be better under the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.

The secretary general said this historical achievement will be a turning point in the process of Mawhiba that will instill the pioneering of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the map of talents and creativity and the status of the foundation that adopts the most comprehensive approach in caring for the talented at the international level, noting that Mawhiba has a high ambition to realize the directives of the wise leadership in graduating generations of Saudi and international talented people who are capable of creating a different future and facing the challenges of the sustainable development of today’s world.

He also noted that the complementary partnership between Mawhiba and its strategic partners has contributed to developing the environment of Mawhiba and provided a rich climate for gaining sciences and knowledge.

Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Discharged from King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah after Having Successfully Conducted Medical Tests and Completed Treatment Plan and Recovery Period, Royal Court Statement Reports

Jeddah, May 15, 2022, SPA — The Royal Court issued today the following statement: “The Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was discharged today, Sunday May 15, 2022 from King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah after having successfully conducted medical tests and completed the prescribed treatment plan as well as the recovery period”.

In this regard, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques extended his thanks to and appreciation of all males and females of the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their kind feelings and blessings. He also extended his appreciation of whoever contacted him or sent his wishes of health to him, including Their Majesties, Excellencies, Highnesses, the leaders of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries.

May Allah Almighty grant the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques continuous health and happiness.

KSrelief Distributes 650 Food Baskets in Afghanistan

Kabul– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed yesterday 650 food baskets to orphans, the needy, and people with special needs in the city of Asadabad in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, benefiting 650 families.

This comes within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and relief aid, represented by the KSrelief, to enhance food security in needy countries.

OIC Welcomes Election of Somali President

Jeddah — The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the confidence placed by the two Chambers of the Somali Parliament, the People’s Assembly and the Senate, in Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was elected as President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha extended his sincere congratulations to the President elect, wishing him success in his mandate to achieve the aspirations of the Somali people.

The OIC Secretary General also offered his warmest congratulations to the Somali people on the success of this election. He reiterated the OIC support to the Federal Republic of Somalia at this crucial stage and in its quest to promote security, stability and development.

UAE President Receives Delegation of Saudi Princes Who Offered Condolences on Death of Late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Soudah Development: Start of reproduction of Nubian ibexes launched by the company in cooperation with national center for wildlife

Abha — The Soudah Development, a company of the Public Investment Fund, announced that six newborn Nubian ibexes have been welcomed, after the company launched the ibexes in last December in cooperation with the National Center for Wildlife, as part of efforts exerted to maintain the environment and relocate the endangered species.

Soudah Development has launched 15 endangered ibexes in Soudah area with the aim of relocating endangered wild animals to their indigenous area and protecting the natural environment in the area of the Soudah development projects and parts of Ragal Almaa area.

This initiative contributes to supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s environmental efforts, where Soudah Development continues its efforts in preserving biodiversity and restoring environmental balance to instill the concept of environmental sustainability in Soudah, which is home to several beings, including the ibex.

German Consul in Jeddah Visits International Islamic Fiqh Academy

Jeddah– The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jeddah, and concurrently the Special Envoy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the OIC, Dr. Eltje Aderhold underlined her country’s keenness to consolidate partnership and joint dialogue with the OIC on various issues of mutual concern.

The German diplomat’s statement was made during her visit yesterday to the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) where she invited IIFAA to participate in the second round of the strategic dialogue of talks between OIC and Germany, which will be held during the second half of 2022 in Berlin.

For his part, IIFA Secretary-General Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, said the meeting marks the beginning of distinguished relations of cooperation and coordination between IIFA and the authorities supervising religious affairs in Germany, welcoming cooperation and coordination in studying issues related to Islamophobia, extremism, and peaceful coexistence between religions and peoples.

Naif Arab University Organizes Workshop on Dangers of “Drones in Important Locations”, in South Korea

Cheonan– Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), in cooperation with the Korean National Police University and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), organized today a workshop in the city of Cheonan, South Korea, themed “Methods and Strategies to Confront the Dangers of “Drones” in Important Locations”, to keep pace with technical developments of security dangers and challenges, including dangers of drones.

This comes within the NAUSS’s annual programs aimed at developing international cooperation and strategic partnerships, which aim to transform the interest in combating terrorism into a tangible reality that contributes to strengthening international efforts to address these crimes.

Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources concludes visit to South Africa

Riyadh, The Kingdom’s delegation, headed by the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, concluded a visit to South Africa, after participating in the Africa Mining Conference “Mining INDABA 2022”, which was held in Cape Town from 9 to 12 May, during which the minister met with several ministers, official delegations and major investors.

The delegation included the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Eng. Khalid Al-Mudaifer, the CEO of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saad Al-Almojel, and the CEO of the Saudi Geological Survey Abdullah bin Muftar Al-Shamrani, in addition to several leaders of the industry and mineral wealth system.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister met with his counterpart, the South African Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, as they discussed means to advance the work of the joint committee, and the work mechanisms between the two parties. They also reviewed the promising opportunities between the two countries in the industry and mining sectors, in addition to various issues of common interest. Al-Khorayef also met with his counterparts in Sierra Leone, Chad, Senegal, Mali, Angola, and Niger and discussed with them enhancing cooperation prospects in the mining sector.

The Minister thanked the Saudi leadership for the support that the industry and mining sectors enjoy, which have effectively contributed to strengthening the Kingdom’s position among countries, praising the South African Government and its people for their warm reception and hospitality. He also expressed his appreciation to the government agencies participating in this global conference under the umbrella of the “Invest in Saudi Arabia” program, stressing that these efforts were clearly reflected in the level of representation and the remarkable attendance at the Kingdom’s pavilion, as well as the events organized by the Saudi delegation.

Al-Khorayef participated in the official opening ceremony by delivering a speech on the first day, followed by the participation of the Deputy Minister for Mining Affairs on the second day, then participating in the government summit, and organizing a dialogue session that saw a remarkable attendance of international investors, which was the largest dialogue session at the conference.

The Kingdom’s participation in the African Mining Conference “Mining INDABA 2022” is an important factor in highlighting the Kingdom’s efforts to develop the mining sector, which achieved record revenues in 2021, amounting to SR727 million ($194 million) and succeeded in attracting investments amounting to more than SR30 billion ( $8 billion), in addition to stimulating additional investments worth SR120 billion ($32 billion) in several projects that are currently being studied.

The Kingdom has amended the regulations and legislation of the mining sector; to provide a clear, transparent, and accessible environment for investors in the sector, and to provide financial incentives to benefit from the Kingdom’s mineral wealth, as it aims to increase its contribution to economic growth and diversification, creation of high-value jobs, and the transition to clean energy.

Riyadh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Association, Yasser bin Hassan Al-Mishal, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his generous patronage of the final match of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Cup (2021-2022), and for HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister for attending and honoring this great sporting event.
