Syria wins silver medal in Beirut Int’l Table Tennis Championship


Beirut, Syrian table tennis player Leen Muhammad Ogli, won a silver medal at Beirut International Championship for the categories under 11, 13 and 15 years old.

Oghli’s silver came after winning the preliminary round in several matches to qualify for the semifinals.

Lebanon, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Iraq, India, Malta, Kazakhstan and Jordan participated in the tournament along with Syria.

Syrian students in India assert determination to participate in development of homeland


New Delhi, National Union of Syrian students in India, in cooperation with the Syrian embassy in New Delhi, held a central ceremony on the 74th anniversary of Syrian Arab Student Day.

Samer Salameh, head of Indian branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, affirmed the determination of Syrian students in India to pursue their educational achievements diligently and persevering in order to return to their homeland, Syria, equipped with experience and knowledge and take their role in building and developing their country.

In turn, Syrian ambassador to India, Bassam al-Khatib, in a speech during the ceremony, drew attention to the great attention paid by President Bashar al-Assad to the issues of students and their affairs.

Syrian students who are at various universities in India renewed their pledge of loyalty to their Syrian Homeland, its leadership and its army, stressing their determination to work hard to achieve the desired goals, foremost of which is to return to the homeland and actively partici
pate in the process of its construction and development.

Havana, Syrian students in Cuba stressed support to their Homeland, Syria as people, Army and leadership.

‘The aggression and terrorist war against Syria require from all students to intensify their efforts and achieve education superiority in order to show a brilliant image of their country,’ the students said in a statement on the 74th anniversary of the Arab Student Day.

They affirmed determination to follow their education with full persistence and return home carrying the experience and knowledge, assume their role to build their country and reconstruct what has been destroyed by terrorism.

Syrian army eliminates a number of ‘al-Nusra Front’ terrorists in Aleppo countryside


Units of the Syrian Arab Army operating in the western countryside of Aleppo, killed and injured members of a group of ‘Al-Nusra Front’ terrorists when they carried out an attack on a number of the Army posts on Friday dawn.

‘Units of our armed forces operating in the western countryside of Aleppo inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists and left them dead and wounded, as well as seizing the bodies of several killed terrorists, including members of the so-called ‘Turkestan Foreigners Brigade’, Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The statement added that the attack by terrorist organizations took place synchronizing with the Israeli air aggression on Aleppo countryside, the terrorists’ attempted drone attack on civilians in Aleppo, and the attack by groups affiliated with the terrorist organization ‘ISIS’ on some army positions in the vicinity of Palmyra.

Syria condemns Israeli terrorist aggression on Aleppo countryside


Syria condemned the terrorist aggression launched by the Israeli occupation entity at dawn Friday, targeting a number of points in Aleppo countryside.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement, ‘Syria condemns the terrorist aggression launched by the Israeli occupation entity at dawn Friday, targeting a number of points in Aleppo countryside, causing the martyrdom and wounding a number of civilians and military personnel and material damage on public and private property.’.

The ministry added: ‘It was not a coincidence that the racist Zionist entity carried out this aggression at the same time that terrorist groups allied with the Zionist entity launched drone attacks carried out from Idleb and the western countryside of Aleppo, in an attempt to target civilians in Aleppo city and its surroundings.’.

The Ministry noted that the blatant Israeli aggression occurred a few hours after a similar aggression that destroyed a residential building in Damascus countryside, injuring two civ

The Ministry said: ‘The Syrian Arab Republic stresses that the Israeli violations of Syrian territory and its repeated aggressions on residential neighborhoods prove the aggressive and barbaric nature of this entity.’.

The Ministry called on all countries in the world to assume their responsibilities in the face of serious and repeated Israeli violations of the principles of international and humanitarian law, and to force the Zionist entity and its supporters to stop their attacks and crimes in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.

Palestinian Land Day Uprising is the core of Palestinians’ struggle _ People’s Assembly


The People’s Assembly asserted in a statement that the Land Day Intifada (Uprising) on March 30th , 1976, was the essence of the Palestinian national struggle, which became an example to follow for the whole humanity in drawing inspiration for steadfastness.

‘This 48th anniversary marks what is known as the Land Day, which was sparked after the authorities of the malicious Zionist enemy confiscated vast areas of the lands of Arab villages in order to Judaize them and empty them of their Arab residents, the owners of the land.’ the Assembly said.

Syria was and will remain the rock-solid country that stands in the face of illusions and malicious schemes of the Zionists, and against all occupiers in general.

The Assembly reaffirmed that the Palestine Cause will remain the central question until the establishment of the Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital.

EGYPT ANNOUNCES A STRONG EARTHQUAKE

Acting President of the National Institute for Astronomical Research, Taha Rabah, said that the stations of the National Seismic Network recorded a strong earthquake today, Friday, according to ‘Russia Today.’

He explained that the earthquake was detected at 9:12 minutes and 47 seconds in the morning local time in Cairo, with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale, 855 kilometers north of Marsa Matrouh, located in southern Greece.

Rabeh confirmed, in a statement issued by the institute on Friday, that the institute received information indicating that the earthquake was felt and that there were no losses of life or property.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was recorded in southern Greece, with its epicenter at a depth of 17 kilometers and 122 kilometers southwest of the Greek city of Patra, which is inhabited by about 168 thousand people.

No information was received about injuries or damage resulting from the earthquake.

ENEMY AIR RAIDS OVER AITA AL-SHAAB, WADI SHEBAA

National News Agency correspondent reported that the Israeli warplanes carried out an air attack at approximately three o’clock in the afternoon today targeting the town of Aita al-Shaab with two air-to-surface missiles.

The enemy warplanes also raided Wadi Shebaa for a second time today with three missiles.
