4 People Arrested For Assaulting A Medical Staff In Baghdad

The Ministry of Interior announced today, Thursday, the arrest of four people who beat a medical staff in the capital, Baghdad.

It said in a statement, “The Protection Force of Martyr Al-Sadr General Hospital managed to arrest 4 people for assaulting the medical staff inside the hospital, by beating, insulting and threatening, and handing them over to the police station.”

MWL Condemns Israeli Occupation Forces’ Incursion into Courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Muslim World League (MWL) condemned the Israeli occupation forces storming in the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the blatant assault on peaceful worshipers.

The MWL denounced Israeli practices that violate the sanctity of Islamic sites and constitute a serious violation of international laws and norms.

The league emphasized the importance of collective action to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, and to stop all practices that undermine the chances of a solution in the occupied territories, reaffirming its firm support for all efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian cause.

Arnous, Zaidan discuss boosting bilateral cooperation, especially in judicial field

Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, discussed on Thursday with President of the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq Judge Dr. Faeq Zaidan, means to strengthen cooperation between the two brotherly countries in different fields, especially the judicial one, along with the study of signing joint judicial agreements that contribute to strengthening the national and strategic security of both countries.

Arnous stressed the importance of finding new prospects and formulas for cooperation and optimal investment for the capabilities of the two countries in order to achieve common benefit.

Arnous expressed his appreciation to the Iraqi government and people for providing support and relief assistance to the earthquake-affected people.

Zaidan asserted that his visit to Damascus carries a message of solidarity and confirmation of Iraq’s standing by Syria.

Zaidan noted the importance of strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation, which reflects the deep-rooted historical relations binding the peoples

Shura Chairman inaugurates parliamentary digital library

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh inaugurated the parliamentary digital library.

The library aims to utilize modern digital technologies, and information technology (AI) to enhance the work quality of the Shura Council in various fields.

Al Saleh confirmed that the inauguration of the digital parliamentary library comes within the framework of initiatives and plans for digital transformation to support the legislative

Work of the council.

The digital library includes references, books, literature, and knowledge sources in various fields.

The chairman was briefed on the used technologies and the applicable standards for digital transformation in the work of specialized libraries.

The library offers access to various search tools and electronic sources that help obtain the required information promptly.

Shura Council Chairman Kareema Mohammed Abdullah Al Abbasi said that the library provides four of the most important databases related to the work of the Shura Council.

She said that the digital library relies on managing its resources on a cloud platform that has advanced library services that ensure the greatest benefit for library visitors in person or via the digital network.

The library is a specialized center for information, studies, and research related to legislative work.

It was launched in 2016 and contains more than 7,000 volumes of books, references, and university theses specialized in various branches of legal and political sciences, in addition to specializations related to legislation such as jurisprudence, finances, security sciences, and criminology.

The library also keeps hard copies of the minutes of the Shura Council sessions, to preserve the preparatory work for Bahraini legislation.

First Direct Flight from Iraq Arrives at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah today received the first regular scheduled direct flight between the Kingdom and Iraq.

Flight No. XY612 of Flynas arrived in Jeddah from the Iraqi city of Erbil this morning with 174 passengers aboard. Flynas will fly directly from Erbil to Jeddah twice weekly, on Wednesdays and on Sundays, and other carriers such as flyadeal and Saudi Airlines are expected to follow suit at the beginning of May.

The resumption of regular flights between the Kingdom and Iraq is the result of the ongoing efforts of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, and of the support and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The flights are bound to boost economic ties and investment, improve trade relations, and facilitate the movement of passengers, tourists, pilgrims and Umrah performers between the two brotherly countries.

As part of its national aviation strategy, the General Authority of Civil Aviation seeks to increase air connectivity to 250 destinations, carry 330 million passengers and increase the capacity of air cargo to 4.5 million tonnes by 2030.

Haramain High-Speed Railway Benefits Travellers, Worshippers

The Haramain High-Speed Railway is one of the Kingdom’s projects that targets the welfare of Umrah and Hajj performers and is convenient for travellers in the regions of Madinah, Makkah, Jeddah, and Rabigh.

The high-speed train transports thousands of passengers daily to various destinations, especially between the Two Holy Mosques, providing a rapid transport system that enables Umrah performers to reach directly the Grand Mosque or the Prophet’s Mosque in a short time, through regular trips.

At the Haramain High-Speed Railway station in Madinah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) visited the bustling station and witnessed the field services in place to receive visitors and follow up on the regularity of their trips to Makkah and Jeddah, at fixed schedules.

There are multiple options for booking passenger tickets on the Haramain high-speed train. Tickets are sold at stations, there are self-service kiosks for ticket reservation and issuance, they could be purchased through smartphone applications or by phoning the Haramain High-Speed Railway services

OIC Denounces Israeli Occupation Forces’ Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ flagrant incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque, the brutal attack on worshippers within its courtyards and the arrest of several worshippers. OIC considers this grave escalation an attack on the sanctity of holy sites and on the freedom of worship, in flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions and relevant UN resolutions.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha said he holds Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the repercussions of these attacks, which he rejected and condemned and which, he said, will fuel tension, violence and instability in the region. He also stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif compound is a place of worship for Muslims alone.

The secretary-general called on the international community to act seriously to put an end to such repeated Israeli violations and to compel Israel, the occupying power, to respect the sanctity of the holy sites and to preserve the legal and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

A joint security detachment from the Diyala police seized quantities of copper alloys and wires intended for smuggling.

The media Spokesman for the Diyala Police Command, Brigadier Nihad al-Mahdawi, told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that a joint security detachment, at a security checkpoint southwest of Baquba, seized a truck loaded with quantities of ingots and copper wire intended for smuggling to the northern regions.

He added that legal measures were taken against the driver of the truck, which was delivered with the seized materials to the competent authority.

The Federal Police forces arrested a suspect wanted in terrorist cases in Baghdad.

A statement of the Federal Police Command stated: According to intelligence information, a force from the Eighth Brigade, the Second Division, Federal Police, backed by intelligence effort and by implementing a security exercise, was able to arrest a wanted suspect in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 (of terrorism) in (Al-Kadhimiya) area in Baghdad.

The arrest of two persons accused of defrauding citizens of foreign currency that has no value in Baghdad

Detachments of the Anti-Crime Directorate arrested two persons accused of defrauding citizens of foreign currency that has no value.

A statement by the Directorate stated, “The detachments of the Green Office for Combating Crime were able to arrest two suspects for fraudulent operations with sums of money against citizens by selling them foreign currency, “Belarusian”, which has no value in Baghdad.”

The statement indicated that the arrest process took place upon the recurrence of several similar cases of fraud, and the formation of a work team for research and investigation, and after collecting information, the perpetrators were reached and arrested, as they explicitly admitted through the investigation that they had carried out 6 similar fraud operations by selling this foreign currency that it has no value within the areas of Hay al-Jamaa, al-Ghazalia, al-Tubji, and Abu Dashir within the capital, Baghdad. Their statements were recorded and the confession was judicially certified, and they were arrested in accordance with the provisions of Article 456 of the Penal Code.
