HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad receives Industry Minister

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), received Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce.

HH Shaikh Khalid praised the minister’s efforts in promoting the national economy by involving all vital sectors, including the sports sector, to achieve the kingdom’s comprehensive development goals.

The meeting discussed the executive work of the sponsorship project for sports facilities and the continuation of the Al Fareej stadium project in cooperation with the private sector.

The minister expressed his appreciation for HH Shaikh Khalid’s efforts to promote the sports sector and stressed the ministry’s keenness to be an active partner in providing all the necessary facilities to implement GSA’s projects in cooperation with the private sector.

Foreign Ministry launches electronic consular legalisation service

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched, in cooperation with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), the electronic consular authentication service through the national portal of the Kingdom of Bahrain (bahrain.bh) and the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which allows users to submit requests for authentication of issued documents.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular and Administrative Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Ali Bahzad, visited the Legalisation Office at the Diplomat Tower in Manama, to learn about the working mechanism of electronic consular certification.

Dr. Bahzad affirmed the Ministry’s continuous endeavour to provide the best consular services to all citizens and residents, explaining that the electronic consular certification service will use high-quality security features in accordance with the best international practices. He pointed out that individuals, all government agencies, and private sector institutions can benefit from this service by submitting a request, paying online and booking an appointment in advance to receive approved and stamped documents, through the national portal (bahrain.bh) or the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (mofa.gov.bh).

The Executive Vice President of Electronic Transformation at the Information and eGovernment Authority, Dr. Zakaria Ahmed Al-Khaja, affirmed that the launch of the consular legalisation service through the national portal is in line with iGA’s strategic policy and supports its efforts in the field of implementing digital transformation plans in partnership with all government agencies, appreciating the keenness of the ministry and its continuous efforts to improve the electronic services that it provides to customers.

Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary visits afforestation project in Muharraq Governorate

Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry Undersecretary, inspected the afforestation project in Muharraq Governorate.

The undersecretary praised Muharraq Municipality’s achievements in afforestation by planting more than 13000 trees in the governorate from the beginning of the year 2023 until now, indicating that the municipality planted in the past year 2022 an amount of 24000 trees, with a total of 37000 trees so far.

The ministry continues to contribute to the national afforestation strategy and sustainable development goals in Bahrain, the undersecretary said.

Shaikh Mohammed affirmed that the ministry has developed plans to increase afforestation in the main streets.

He inspected the nurseries in Muharraq Governorate and reviewed the municipality’s plan to develop its nurseries and increase seedling production, as well as projects to expand the use of treated water for crop irrigation.

Deputy Speaker: The Federal Govt Will Continue To Finance The Salaries Of Employees Of The Kurdistan

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the federal government will continue to fund the monthly salaries of employees of the Kurdistan Region.

Abdullah said in a statement today, “The meetings held by the delegation of the regional government that visited Baghdad recently were very good, and there are two visions, the first with regard to the region’s share of the budget, which is that financing continues for monthly salaries, and the second vision is that the financial dues for Kurdistan be calculated as of January of the year 2023”.

The statement added, “The process of financing monthly salaries will continue in the same way, and as for the previous months, a committee from the Iraqi government conducted a visit to the Kurdistan region, and it is in the process of conducting a review, and it has expressed its satisfaction with the transparency enjoyed by the regional government.”

The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, called on American companies to work in Iraq, especially in the field of energy.

A statement by his media office stated: “Al-Maliki received in his office today, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Alina Romanowski, and during the meeting, he reviewed the future of bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the visit of the Iraqi security delegation to Washington recently, and the keenness of Baghdad and Washington to activate the terms of the strategic framework agreement according to a specific timetable.”

The head of the State of Law coalition pointed to “the importance of continuing cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields,” stressing that “the political and security stability the country is witnessing will contribute to the resumption of the reconstruction and construction process and the entry of major foreign companies,” calling on American companies to work in Iraq, especially in the field of energy.”

On the local elections, al-Maliki said, “Iraq is preparing to run in local elections at the end of this year, and the Iraqis are ready to elect those representing them in local governments.”

In turn, the US ambassador renewed her country’s support for the stability of Iraq, stressing the continuation of providing the necessary assistance to the Iraqis within the framework of the strategic framework agreement between the two countries.”

The President Of The Republic Meets The Syrian Catholic Patriarch Of Antioch In The World

The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, met His Beatitude Mar Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Patriarch of the Syriac Catholics of Antioch in the world, Mor Ephram Youssef Abba, Archbishop of Baghdad and Secretary of the Holy Synod, and His Excellency Monsignor Habib Murad, Patriarchal General Curator and Secretary of the Patriarchate Syriac Catholic Antiochene.

The President of the Republic affirmed, according to a statement, that “the Christian component in Iraq is an authentic component and is respected and appreciated by all, referring to their contributions to the Mesopotamia civilization and their role in consolidating the cultural and historical heritage in the country, and he also praised their national stances in building the new Iraq.”

He pointed out, “The government’s efforts have prioritized strengthening security and stability, maintaining peaceful coexistence among all components and spectra, and continuing to rehabilitate the infrastructure, especially for areas damaged by terrorism.”

Abdul Latif stressed: on the unremitting efforts to strengthen relations between all components and spectrums of the Iraqi people, noting in this regard, that the relations between the federal government and the Kurdistan region are good, and there are meetings that are constantly taking place between the two sides.”

He stressed the importance of ensuring the implementation of the constitution, commitment to implementing its paragraphs, and protecting state institutions in order to provide services to citizens.

For his part, His Beatitude Mar Ignatius Youssef III Younan expressed his happiness at meeting the President of the Republic, praising the President’s proposals to protect peaceful coexistence among all components and spectra, and the positive developments that Iraq is witnessing at various levels, especially security and service.

The Antiochene Syriac Catholic Patriarch in the world “expressed his rejection and denunciation of the attacks against the Holy Qur’an, stressing that these deviant actions and behaviors were rejected by Christians, and Sweden must prevent the recurrence of such false attacks.”

The President of the Republic stressed that “the burning of the Holy Qur’an resulted in international reactions regarding the application of human rights principles, freedom and respect for religions and beliefs.”

His Beatitude Mar Ignatius Youssef III Younan referred to “the ongoing preparations for holding a conference in the city of Qaraqosh during the next month, where the President expressed his wishes for the success of the conference and the achievement of its desired goals.”

Oman, Kazakhstan Conduct Military Talks

The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted joint military talks.

The two sides discussed means of promoting the joint military cooperation.

The talks were held during an official visit made by a military delegation led by Brigadier Hamid Abdullah Al Balushi, Assistant Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces for Operations and Planning.

During the visit, the Omani military delegation met with officers at the General Staff of the Kazakh Armed Forces.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister congratulates the President of the Republic of Korea

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today sent a cable of congratulations to the President of the Republic of Korea, HE Yoon Suk Yeol, on the National Liberation Day of Korea.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister sent a similar congratulatory cable to the Prime Minister of South Korea, HE Han Duck-soo.
