67th Meeting of Executive Office of Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers Kicks off in Cairo

Cairo– On behalf of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Badr bin Abdulrahman Al-Qadi, headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation at the 67th meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, held today in Cairo, with the participation of the member states of the office and the General Secretariat of the Araba League, in addition to participating in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Youth and Sports Activities of the Council of Ministers of Youth and Sports in its 42nd session.

The draft agenda of the office included the preparations for the work of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, in light of the recommendations and reports submitted by the youth, sports and financial committees in the council.

President of SAFF Meets with His Dutch Counterpart

Riyadh– The President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), Yasser Al-Mis’hal, met with his Dutch counterpart Just Spee, as part of strengthening international relations, which is one of the seven pillars of the strategy of transforming Saudi football.

During the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Dutch Football Association, they tackled enhancing means of cooperation between the two bodies in the field of developing age groups, women’s football and technological solutions related to modern football, in addition to a set of future opportunities for cooperation.

Saudi Arabia Releases the PQQ for Umm Ad Damar, the 2nd License Round for the Issuance of an Exploration License in the Kingdom

Riyadh– Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM) announced the launch of the second licensing round in the Kingdom for the issuance of an exploration license. Local and international mining companies are welcome to participate in the licensing round to obtain an exploration license in Umm Ad Damar site which covers more than 40 sq kilometers and includes copper, zinc, gold and silver and there are four mineralized prospects have been identified at Umm Ad Damar.

Umm Ad Damar Deposit lies 300km NE of Jeddah and 25km NW of Mahd Adh Dhahab city. It occurs in Jeddah geological terrane at Jabal Saiyd mineralized belt within Mahad formation.

The Kingdom has recently announced the qualified bidders in connection with the licensing round for the Khnaiguiyah site and aims to announce the successful bidder for Khnaiguiyah in Q3 of this year. The launch of a competitive bidding process under the mining regime of the Kingdom represents ‘proof points’ for the mining sector transformation efforts, especially to the legal and regulatory framework. The process is being managed in an efficient, transparent and fair way.

It is anticipated that the licensing round for of the Umm Ad Damar site will comprise of three stages: registration, qualification, and bidding stage,where the ministry is planning to award the license by the third quarter of 2022. The data room of Umm Ad Damar is now available and includes all historical work conducted on the site as well as a 3-D geological model produced by an independent consultant. The data room also includes a recent geophysics surveying completed by the Saudi Geological Survey back in January of this year.

The Ministry’s approach represents a significant step in the licensing process to create mining opportunities in Saudi Arabia more attractive to investors in alignment with the Kingdom’s main objectives in the licensing round: transparency, compliance and collaboration with mining sector players.

Today, thanks to Saudi Arabia’s recently revised Mining Investment Law, along with a revamped legal and regulatory framework, investors will benefit from a simple, transparent process when applying for a license and setting up operations. The Kingdom offers unparalleled incentives to attract the investors qualified to deliver value for the mining sector and the entire value chain. These financial incentives include co-funding of up to 75% of CAPEX through the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), a five-year royalty holiday for miners and royalty discounts for downstream projects.

Mayor of Riyadh Region Attends Ceremony of Embassy of Netherlands on Netherlands’ National Day

Riyadh– On behalf of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of the Riyadh Region, attended today the ceremony of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of the National Day of Netherlands.

Upon his arrival at the ceremony venue, he was received by the Deputy Ambassador of Netherlands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Nabil Taouati, and a number of the embassy employees.

The ceremony was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Protocol Affairs, Abdulmajeed Al-Samary, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

GCC Secretary General Meets with President of Kurdistan Regional Government at Davos

Davos– Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf met here today with President of the Kurdistan Regional Government Masrour Barzani on the sidelines of the World Economic Conference in Davos, Switzerland.

During the meeting, the GCC Secretary General stressed that the GCC states stand by the Republic of Iraq and support its security and stability, based on the fact that the security of Iraq is an integral part of the GCC security. They also reviewed the joint cooperation relations and issues of common interest.

Davos– Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf met here today with President of Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden on the sidelines of the World Economic Conference in Davos, Switzerland.

During the meeting, the GCC Secretary General affirmed the GCC interest to strengthen cooperation with the Republic of Tunisia. They also reviewed aspects of joint cooperation in various fields.

Iran will avenge the killing of a colonel of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), President Ebrahim Raisi pledged on Monday ahead of a trip to Oman, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported. Raisi accused “imperialist powers” of being behind the assassination, which was carried out on Sunday in a neighbourhood in the south-east of the Iranian capital.
