The Minister of Youth and Sports meets the ambassadors of the Arab Gulf states and Yemen

Baghdad The Minister of Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Supreme Committee supervising the Arabian Gulf Championship, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, met this evening, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassadors of the Gulf countries participating in the 25th Gulf Championship, in addition to Yemen.

During the long meeting, according to Kooora website, several files related to the organizational and logistical aspects of the tournament were discussed, as well as an extensive explanation of the mechanism of work and central support from the Iraqi government to show it in the best way , including points related to the entry of the neighboring Gulf fans, the guests and their presence in Basra, and an invitation well-known national symbols of Gulf countries and sports stars.

Al-Mubarqa appreciated the spirit of cooperation that dominated the meeting, and the willingness of the brothers to work with their brothers in Iraq to make the 25th Gulf Cup in the best suit.

It is noteworthy that the Council of Ministers had decided earlier to allocate financial support amounting to 33 million dollars, to support and secure the requirements of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, which will be hosted by the city of Basra from the sixth to 19 January 2023 .

Baghdad The new Spanish coach for the Iraqi national team, Jesus Casas, confirmed that his project with the Lions of Rafidain is long-term.

Casas said, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper “AS” / according to Koura / Today: The Iraqis hope to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and the challenge we face is to improve every day and apply our way of progress.

He added: My project with Iraq is long-term, and I prefer to follow the philosophy of Simeone (Atletico Madrid coach), it is the most appropriate.

He explained: The president of the League nominated me to coach Iraq, and he knows the president of the Iraqi Football Federation (Adnan Darjal) well, and he wants us to help develop football there and we will do that.

“At the moment, the language is not an obstacle, all the players understand English, and when a player comes who does not speak English, we will provide him with an interpreter,” Casas added.

He stated: We wanted to secure a friendly match between Iraq and Spain, and there were contacts between the two federations, but it did not materialize in the end.

Casas noted that the Spanish ambassador encouraged me to live in Baghdad, a city that is relatively safe and crowded, there are no restrictions in it, and the Iraqi citizen is very generous, it would be an exaggeration to say that I and my assistant were greeted as heroes.

Kuwait sends a fire and rescue force to Qatar to help secure the World Football Cup

The Kuwaiti government has sent a force from the Fire and Maritime Rescue Department to the State of Qatar to participate in the efforts to organize and secure the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be launched this month.

The Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Rai, quoted the Fire Department as saying in a statement: The Chief of the General Fire Brigade, Lieutenant-General Khaled Al-Mukrad, bid farewell to the force and conveyed to it the greetings and directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The First Deputy Prime Minister urged the members of the fire and rescue brigade to be of good faith and confidence in the task assigned to them and to represent the State of Kuwait in the best way.

The Kuwaiti Minister of Interior stressed the need for the team to cooperate with the Qatari Civil Defense in implementing plans to secure the World Cup from any risks

7-year-old Syrian girl Sham crowned as Arab Reading Challenge Champion

Dubai, The youngest participant in this year’s Arab Reading Challenge, seven-year old Syrian Sham al- Bakour, on Thursday joined the pantheon of Arab reading champions, besting millions of Arab youth from across the world who participated in the annual Challenge .

Syrian Child al-Bakour won the award of the Challenge held in the United Arab Emirates in its sixth edition for this year with the first participation of Syria.

The 7-year-old Child al-Bakkour competed with 18 participants representing 18 Arab states.

22 Million Students from 92 Arab countries and their communities have participated at the Challenge.

Representing her home country in the biggest reading challenge in the Arab world, al-Bakour displayed confidence and grace at such a young age. Her participation received widespread media attention for being the youngest contestant in the Challenge.

To encourage al-Bakour, a number of Dar El Salam School students gathered in Damascus today and watched, via video, the Arab Reading Challenge award ceremony.

The Challenge, kicked off in 2015, is the largest-ever Arab literacy initiative launched by UAE to encourage students to read, it challenges students to read as many books as possible (over 50) in one academic year.

Syrian football team qualifies for semi-finals of WAFF U-23 Championship

Riyadh, The Syrian national football team qualified for the semi-finals of the 2022 West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U-23 Championship held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Syrian team came second in the second group, after its Saudi Arabia counterpart .

It had lost a match with Bahrain 1-2 in the opening of its participation in the championship.

Syria’s wheelchair basketball team beats its Palestinian counterpart at India International Tournament

New Delhi, Syrian wheelchair basketball team beat its Palestinian counterpart 54-51 after extra time in its second match during India International Tournament.

Previously, the Syrian team has beat Bangladesh team 45-42 in the tournament being held according to lists of the International Basketball Federation.

A total of eight countries (Cambodia, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria and Ghana) are competing in the tournament.
