More than 280 People Benefited from KSrelief Mobile Clinics in Harad District in One Week

Hajjah, Yemen, Mobile medical clinics affiliated with Riyadh-based King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) have continued offering medical services to beneficiaries in Al-Gharzah area, Harad District in Hajjah Governorate, Yemen, it was reported here today.

A total of 286 people reported to the clinics between November 18 and 24, 2021, whereas 175 people reported to the internal medicine clinic, 24 benefited from the emergency department and 20 cases, among others, were received by the reproductive health clinic.

Also, medicines were disbursed for 286 people, while 101 patients visited the nursing services department. Two garbage disposal activities were also conducted, said the report.

Acting Media Minister Welcomes ASBU Meetings in Riyadh

Riyadh, Under the patronage of Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the 41st Session of the General Assembly and 106th Meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) are scheduled to be hosted by the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) between December 8 and 15, it was reported today.

To mark the occasion, Mohammad bin Fahd Al-Harithi, CEO of SBA, welcomed, on behalf of Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s guests to the ASBU’s meetings of the General Assembly and Executive Council, noting that SBA has completed all preparations to host the occasion.

Al-Harithi added that hosting the events reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s role in leading the region through its inspiring vision, where SBA seeks to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the media aspects, which are considered the main and complimentary element to realize aspirations for a bright future.

The CEO concluded his remarks by stressing that hosting this event with the participation of several leaders and experts in the media industry is part of the leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s endeavors to support and encourage creative people and contribute to cognitive and vocational enrichment for all Arabs.

Meanwhile, the 80th meeting of the Permanent Committee for the Administrative, Financial and Legal Affairs is scheduled to be held between December 8 and 10, before holding the meeting of the Executive Council on December 11 and 12 and then holding the Ordinary Session of the General Assembly between December 13 and 15 with the participation of representatives of member states and Arab, regional and international specialized organizations.

“Ithra” hosts draw ceremony for the 20th Asian Handball Championship, with the participation of 17 Asian teams

Riyadh, King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture “Ithra” is set to host tomorrow the draw ceremony for the 20th Asian Handball Championship, which qualifies for the 2023 World Championships “Poland – Sweden”, scheduled for the Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia, from January 18-31, with the participation of 17 teams, it was announced here today.

The ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m, also witness revealing the logo of the tournament, as well as announcing the technical staff of the first Saudi handball team.

In addition to host Saudi national team, Australia, Bahrain, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, South Korea, UAE, Uzbekistan and Vietnam teams are also participating.

Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation, CFM Sign SAR 32 Billion LEAP-1A Engines Purchase Agreement

Jeddah, Coinciding with the visit of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation announced that it has ordered CFM International LEAP-1A engines to power its new fleet of 35 Airbus A321neo and 30 A320neo aircraft. This agreement also includes a Rate-Per-Flight-Hour (RPFH) services contract to cover engines from this new order as well as an additional 20 leased A320neo aircraft. This comprehensive agreement is valued at approximately $8.5 billion U.S. at list price.

Based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabian Airlines operates 61 CFM56-5B-powered Airbus A320ceo aircraft, and SAUDIA Group’s low-cost subsidiary, flyadeal, operates 11 CFM56-5B-powered Airbus A320ceo aircraft and 5 A320neo LEAP-1A.

Under the terms of the agreement, CFM will also assist the SAUDIA Group subsidiary Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) in developing its own engine overhaul services, including disassembly, inspection, assembly, testing, and qualification/certification for the LEAP-1A engines.

Ministry of Health Reports 29 New COVID-19 Cases, 21 Recoveries in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the registration of 29 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 21 recoveries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the past 24 hours.

The ministry added that the number of critical cases reached 39.

The ministry’s statistics showed that the total number of infections in the country reached 549,877, while the recovery tally reached 539,011.

The MoH reported two new deaths, bringing fatalities tally in the Kingdom to 8,842.

The Ministry of Health advised everyone to contact the toll free (937) for consultations and inquiries around the clock, and to obtain health information and services.

Dubai, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai pays remarkable attention to persons with disabilities, as it seeks to provide all services that facilitate their movement within the pavilion, as well as allocating enough space for them to express their various abilities and creativity.

In that context, the Kingdom’s pavilion marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which the world observes annually on December 3, as it dedicates a large space to mark this occasion within its daily activities in its external arenas, to reflect the extent of its interaction with global issues and days celebrated by the Expo 2020 Dubai.

During its activities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Kingdom’s pavilion sought to shed light on the Kingdom’s efforts to care for persons with disabilities, and its keenness to ensure their access to their rights and to enhance the services provided to them, which were displayed in a short film, and received a wide interaction by hundreds of visitors to the pavilion.

King Salman Center for Disability Research Discusses Launching Electronic Platform for Scientific Research

–The Secretary-General of King Salman Center for Disability Research, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi, has received at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh, the Head of Strategic Partnerships at Springer Nature magazine, John Giuliani.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of scientific studies and research and exchanging experiences between the center and the magazine in addition to the ways of supporting the disability research community by creating an electronic platform that aims to disseminate the center’s research to a wide audience of specialists and interested people around the world .

The Secretary-General of the Center explained that the platform includes a high-quality website bearing the KSCDR brand, which includes reports on the latest research and printed publications in fields related to disability sciences.

Saudi Arabia Concludes Participation in 41st Session of UNESCO General Conference

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has concluded its participation in the 41st session of the General Conference of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO”, which was held in the French capital, Paris, from November 9 to 24.

The Kingdom’s delegation to the Conference was headed by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture who is also the Chairman of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.

The delegation included Vice Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al Al-Sheikh, in addition to 12 experts from the Ministries of Culture and Education, and Saudi Data and Al Authority (SDAIA), King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and Human Rights Commission.

Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Meqrin, the permanent representative of the Kingdom to UNESCO, said that the session included various events, including the celebration of UNESCO’s 75th anniversary and the adoption of the Organization’s 2022-2029 strategy, in addition to the adoption of recommendations for the ethics of artificial intelligence as well as recommendation on Open Science.

Regarding the achievements, Princess Haifa underlined the membership of the International Coordination Council for the Man and the Biosphere Program, the signing of a strategic agreement between the Royal Commission for Al-Ula and UNESCO, and the Kingdom’s support for the launch of the World Atlas of Languages, which corresponds to UNESCO’s efforts to promote linguistic diversity.

The Princess added that the agreement signed between the Royal Commission for Al-Ula and UNESCO aims to develop the natural and cultural environment, achieve mutual benefit, and enhance the cultural, social, and economic development that Al-Ula is currently witnessing, in addition to enhancing capacity building and knowledge transfer.

These achievements underscored the Kingdom’s important and prominent role in decision-making within the Organization and its promotion of multilateralism to preserve and protect common goals and address global challenges to ensure a better future for nations.

Translation in sports is promising in Saudi Arabia, according to the professionals

Professionals in sports translation agreed that this field has a bright future in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This was revealed during a session tilted “The Role of Translation in Sports,” which was held as part of the Translation Forum in Riyadh today.

In terms of publicity and marketing, the speakers in the session stressed the importance of having interpreters in each football club.

They pointed out that each club has players of various nationalities and from different nations, which help the club advertise itself and gain popularity internationally.

The speakers were Nasser Albeshri, Mansour Alabdallah and Mushari Alghamdi. The session was moderated by Mazen Alharbi.

Saudi Translation Forum hosts top experts in Riyadh to discuss future of translation industry

Translation experts from Saudi Arabia and seven other countries gathered in Riyadh this week to examine the main issues and challenges facing the global translation industry, shared best practice methods, and exchanged ideas. The forum also explored the role of translation in bridging cultures, as well as laws and regulations governing the industry.

Hosted by the Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, one of 11 commissions under the Ministry of Culture, from 2 to 3 December 2021, the forum hosted engaging panel discussions and interactive workshops that presented new tools and techniques in the fields of literary translation, news translation, political translation, and language interpretation. Discussions highlighted international best practice in using translation technologies and computer-assisted translation tools.

Nine prominent international speakers, trainers, and professors from top universities such as Leuven University (Belgium), National University of Colombia, Lumière University Lyon 2 (France), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Qatar), University of Granada (Spain), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and University College London (UK), participated in the forum’s panel sessions and training workshops.

Dr. Mohammed Alwan, CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, said: “We are proud to have hosted the first successful edition of the Translation Forum. It has been a true honor to bring together some of the top experts in the translation sector to discuss ways we can work together to advance the sector. Saudi Arabia has one of the biggest translation and publishing markets in the region, and we are exerting all efforts to grow the sector even more through nurturing and encouraging local writers and translators, forging international collaborations, and developing a supportive regulatory framework.”

As part of the forum, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission organized the Kingdom’s first audiovisual translation challenge for students, amateurs, and professionals in the field. During the two-day ‘Movisation Challenge’, teams of two to three members competed in translating short film clips discussing Saudi culture and history from Arabic into English, French, Spanish, and Korean. Prizes ranged from SAR 5,500 ($1,466) to SAR 20,000 ($5,332) for winners in two tracks: amateurs and students, and professionals.
