14,672 Violations of Residence, Work, Border Security Regulations Apprehended in a Week


Riyadh: The inspection campaigns carried out in all regions of the Kingdom from April 11 to 17, 2024, to check compliance with residency, work and border security regulations, yielded the following results:

Across the Kingdom, 14,672 violations were recorded: 9,479 of residency, 3,763 of border security, and 1,430 of labor law.

Some 996 individuals attempted to cross the border into the Kingdom illegally, of whom 33% Yemenis, 64% Ethiopians, and 3% of other nationalities; 73 people were arrested for attempting to illegally leave the Kingdom.

Six people involved in transporting, sheltering and employing residence, work and border security law violators were arrested.

The total number of those who are currently subject to the procedures for implementing the regulations reached 58,902 violating expatriates, including 54,551 men and 4,351 women.

Of the people caught having failed to comply with the law, 52,073 were referred to their diplomatic missions, to obtain travel documents, 2,861 were referred to comp
lete their travel reservations, and 8,766 were deported.

The Ministry of Interior warned that any person who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transports them on its territory, provides them with shelter or with any other assistance or service may be penalized with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR1 million, and that the vehicles used for transport or housing used for shelter may be confiscated.

The ministry stressed that such acts are major crimes that warrant arrest.

It also urges people to report any violations by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom.
