HRC President Receives Ambassador of Bangladesh

Riyadh, President of Human Rights Commission (HRC) Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad received at his office today the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of common interest between the two countries, especially in the fields of human rights, as well as the challenges and measures being taken to confront the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic on the labor market, in addition to the efforts being exerted by Saudi Arabia this regard.

The two sides also reviewed the Labor Reforms Initiative for Private Sector Workers of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

Dr. Al-Awwad affirmed the depth of relations between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh and the importance of such visits between the two sides to exchange views regarding many issues that would promote the cooperation.

Ministry of Health: Double Coronavirus’ Effect for the Elderly, those with Chronic Diseases, Immunization Important for Their Safety

Riyadh, The Ministry of Health pointed out here today that the effect of the Coronavirus doubles for many folds for the elderly and those with chronic diseases, subsequently, immunization is an important step to protect them and decrease the risk of the infection.

On the other hand, it announced that as many as 1,389 new confirmed infections were reported against 912 recoveries, while the number of active cases rose to 9,593, including 1348 in critical conditions, in the last 24-hour.

The tally of infections in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stood at 443,460 against 426,589 recoveries, while the fatalities rose to 7278 as 14 deaths were reported.

As many as 89182 lab tests have been conducted, too.

Meeting of the Executive Office of UNESCO’s International Convention against Doping in Sport Kicks off Today

Riyadh, Riyadh will host today the third meeting of the executive office of the state parties of UNESCO’s International Convention against Doping in Sport “the seventh session”, which will be held over two days.

The meeting will be held in the presence and participation of the secretary general of the convention, UNESCO deputy director general and representatives of the following: World Anti-Doping Agency, International Olympic Committee, Interpol, European Union, African Union, International Center for the Prevention of Crime, and head of approvals in UNESCO convention, in addition to the head of the executive office for UNESCO and deputy sports minister in the Dominican Republic, and deputies of UNESCO director general: Russian minister of sports, Senegal’s minister of sports, advisor of the minister of sports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Chinese deputy minister of sports.

The meeting will go over several agendas that concern developments in the convention, follow up on the application of the 191 state parties to the convention goals, issuing resolutions related to compliance, in addition to discussing the agenda of the main conference scheduled to be held in Paris, UNESCO headquarters, during next October.

Deputy Minister of Defense Meets with Commander of U.S. Central Command

Riyadh, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense has met here with Commander of U.S. Central Command Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed the partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, specifically in the defense and military aspects. They emphasized the importance of the partnership and its role in maintaining international peace and security, and promoting stability in the region.

They also discussed the latest developments in the region, and the joint efforts made towards it to serve the security and stability of the region and the world.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials from both sides.

Syria, South Ossetia to enhance parliamentary relations

Damascus, Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, discussed on Tuesday with President of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia, Alan Tadtaev, means of enhancing and developing Syria-South Ossetia parliamentary relations and pushing them forward in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly peoples and countries.

During the meeting, Sabbagh called for the exchange of delegations and parliamentary experiences between Syria and South Ossetia, in addition to the development of relations and on various issues.

He thanked delegation of south Ossetia for responding to the invitation addressed to it to keep up with the presidential elections in Syria.

For his part, Tadtaev, affirmed the elections are of great importance in achieving stability and developing situation in the country that has overcome many difficulties.

He affirmed the determination of his country’s leadership and people to continue supporting Syria.

Shaaban: Syria and Iran will be the beacon of independent decision in region and the world

Damascus, Special Advisor at the presidency of the Republic, Bouthaina Shaaban, affirmed that Syria suffered throughout history from occupation and colonialism, but it has always come out victorious, adding that Syria and Iran will be the beacon of the independent decision and model of freedom in the region and the world.

Shaaban, during a meeting with a delegation of the Iranian Islamic Shoura council, headed by Zahra al-Lahian, which is on a visit to Syria to keep up with presidential elections, thanked Iran’s efforts and its response to the Syrian government’s invitation to accompany the presidential elections scheduled on May 26th.

She also expressed the gratitude of the Syrian people for the Iranian role in combating terrorism, stressing that the Syrian and Iranian peoples will overcome all the difficulties surrounding them.

In turn, Chairwoman of the Iranian delegation referred to Syrian pivotal role in the region, stressing that Syria has resisted imperialism.

She added that the war on Syria was a global one, but this war failed to achieve its goal in overthrowing the Syrian state.

Ministry of Industry: 83 New Factories Licensed in April

Riyadh, The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has revealed, through its monthly industrial report that a total of 83 industrial licenses were issued in April, 2021, with a capital of SAR1.578 billion, compared with 12 licenses issued in the same period last year.

The report issued by the National Center for Industrial Information, also said that the number of operating industrial facilities has reached 10,029 by the end of April with investments valuing more than SAR1.133 trillion.

The industrial sector has created around 1,049 job opportunities for Saudis during this month with the number of expatriate workers entering the sector reaching nearly 4,427, according to the report which also indicated that the national investment constituted 93% of the newly licensed industrial ventures.

Data also showed that small-sized factories constituted around 90% of the licenses granted for the new industrial ventures across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with 29, 25 and 12 of them were established in Riyadh, Eastern and Makkah regions respectively.

According to the report, 19% of the newly issued licenses were granted to 16 food manufacturers followed by 11 nonmetallic mineral product manufacturers.

A total of 41 factories began production last month, with a growth rate of 5% compared to the previous month and a growth of 200%, compared to the same month last year, the report said, adding that the volume of investment in new factories that started production this month has reached SR1.13 billion with food products and chemical manufacturers topping the list with 6 factories each.
