CGTN: Foreign capital positive on Chinese market

BEIJING, Nov. 2, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The majority of foreign-funded enterprises remain positive on the Chinese market, as China has vast opportunities in the coming years with unremitting opening-up efforts, an improved business environment and a bright market growth outlook.

The successful conclusion of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has further boosted foreign enterprises’ confidence in the market, according to a survey released on October 27 by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Among the more than 500 foreign enterprises surveyed, 96.7 percent affirmed China’s development achievements over the past decade and 96.9 percent expressed stronger confidence in the Chinese market.

China has been striving to create new opportunities for the world through its own development. The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is such a move to actively open the Chinese market to the world.

This year’s CIIE has attracted 284 Fortune Global 500 and industry-leading companies. Nearly 90 percent of Fortune Global 500 and industry-leading companies who attended last year’s event are returning this year. Rio Tinto, BHP Group, ThyssenKrupp and Gilead Sciences are among the Fortune Global 500 companies making their CIIE debut.

Attractive Chinese market

Such uplifting sentiment among foreign businesses was also reflected in China’s foreign direct investment (FDI) figures. In the first nine months of 2022, China’s FDI inflow in actual use topped $155.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.9 percent, data from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) showed.

From January to September, investment from Germany jumped 114.3 percent on an annual basis, while investment from South Korea surged 90.7 percent, from Japan 39.5 percent and the UK 22.3 percent, according to MOFCOM.

China is leading the world in foreign capital inflowsIts global share of FDI in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022 was 19.5 percent, ranking first in the world, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Improving business environment

In Q1, roughly 90 percent of foreign-funded enterprises were satisfied with China’s policies concerning market access, promotion of market competition, access to business premises and financial services.

A separate survey released by the CCPIT on October 27 showed that nearly 80 percent of foreign firms surveyed have maintained their current scale of production and business in China, while more than 5 percent have expanded investment as they prioritize strategic development in China.

Saudi-German Parliamentary Friendship Committee of Shura Council Meets with a German Parliamentary Delegation

Riyadh, The Saudi-German Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Shura Council, chaired by the Shura Council Member and Chairman of the Committee Hazza Al-Qahtani, met here today with a German parliamentary delegation chaired by Chairman of the German Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the Arab States of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Christoph Ploss, and a number of German parliament members who are currently visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Qahtani hoped that these meetings would contribute to strengthening and developing parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the German Parliament, in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries.

KSrelief, IOM Sign Joint Implementation Program for Project to Provide Non-Food Items to Migrants in Djibouti

Riyadh, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed a joint implementation program with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for a project to provide non-food items to migrants in the Republic of Djibouti.

The program was signed here today by Assistant General Supervisor of the KSrelief for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, and by Director of IOM Office in Djibouti Stephanie Davio.

Through the project, 9,700 bags of non-food items containing clothes and hygiene items will be secured and distributed, benefiting 9,700 migrants in Djibouti, through the support provided by the KSrelief to the IOM.

This comes within the humanitarian efforts provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the KSrelief, for refugees and the needy people in various parts of the world to contribute to alleviating their suffering and improving their livelihoods.

Minister of Energy Discusses Ways to Enhance Cooperation in Energy Field with Minister for Environment and Climate Action of Portuguese Republic

Riyadh, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Energy, held a virtual meeting with Minister for Environment and Climate Action of the Portuguese Republic, Duarte Cordeiro.

The two Ministers emphasized the importance of supporting the stability of global energy markets by encouraging dialogue and collaboration between producing and consuming countries and highlighted the need to ensure the security of energy supply.

Both sides have confirmed the desire to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of energy in the near future.

During the call, it was noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of Portugal’s crude oil suppliers and a trusted partner, both Ministers stressed the importance of cooperating in many energy related fields such clean hydrogen, renewable energy (and integrating electricity from renewables in the grid), power trade and international interconnection and power system reliability and security.

The Ministers considered that energy transition is key to address both the energy and climate challenges, a topic that will be further explored during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission Launches “Translation Forum”

Riyadh, The second edition of the Translation Forum, organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, kicked off today and will run for two days at the Ministry of Education in Riyadh, under the title “Translating the Future.. Translation and Technology”, with the participation of experts in translation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and from around the world.

The forum will discuss the translation industry in light of modern technologies and trends through nine dialogue sessions, ten workshops, and three interactive training workshops.

The forum will conclude its activities on Friday, November 4, with a closing ceremony that will witness announcing the winners of the “Translation Hackathon”, which was organized by the Commission from 8-11 October 2022 in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s Delegation to Australia Reviews Investment Opportunities in Mining Sector at IMARC in Sydney

Sydney, In a meeting organized under the umbrella of “Invest Saudi”, the Saudi delegation, participating in the official visit to Australia, reviewed the investment opportunities in the mining sector in Sydney, Australia, with the aim of highlighting the infrastructure of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; to be the first global destination for investment in the mining sector.

This came during the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s participation in the International Mining and Resource Conference and Exhibition (IMARC).

Saudi Ministry of Culture Concludes “Creative Cities” Program

Riyadh, The Saudi Ministry of Culture has concluded a training course on the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) as part of a series of courses within its “Experts Program”, a joint program between the Ministry of Culture and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).

The Creative Cities training was provided by urban and strategic regional planner, Vittorio Salmoni, the expert who worked on adding the city of Fabriano, Italy, to UNESCO’s network of Creative Cities.

Trainees were introduced to the UCCN program and the various categories that encompass the Creative Cities Network ecosystem, including crafts and traditional arts, design and film, culinary arts, literature, media arts and music. Supplemented by global and Saudi-specific case studies, the course was bolstered with an explanation of the Creative City Network registration process, providing an in-depth overview of Al-Ahsa’s experience in becoming a Creative City in crafts and traditional arts, in parallel with an exploration of the city of Buraidah’s registration as a Creative City in the culinary arts.

The Experts Program aims to train a select group of experts from Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries to support the implementation of five international cultural heritage Conventions and two cultural programs. In particular, the training focuses on the preparation of nomination files, periodic monitoring reports, related policies and action plans.

The capacity-building workshop was attended by 24 participants and hosted several leading experts and specialists in the field: Cristiano Casa, Eduardo Sego Solis, Federica Forte, Giuseppe Piagini, Ibrahim Al-Shabith, Luca Paraldi, Majid Al-Muhanna, Manfredi Mangano, Rainer Kern, and Suleiman Al-Qafari.

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Meets with Saudi Scholarship Program Students in Australia

Riyadh, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef met, during his official visit to Australia, with students from the Saudi scholarship program at the University of Sydney.

Dr. Shane Griffin, Vice-President of the University of Sydney, welcomed the Minister and briefed him on the university’s key programs and facilities. Dr. Griffin also gave an overview of the institution’s history and what it offers to Saudi students to make their transition into academic education as seamless as possible and provide an experience that benefits them and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During his speech to students, the Minister emphasized that the Kingdom places a high value on citizens and depends on them to shape the future. The Saudi scholarship program aims to prepare students and provide them with capabilities to compete globally in all fields. Human resources, according to Al-Khorayef, are critical to the industry and mineral resource ecosystem. 50 Saudi and Finnish Companies Seek to Boost Investment and Trade Opportunities between Saudi Arabia and Finland

Helsinki, The Saudi-Finnish Business Forum, organized by the Federation of Saudi Chambers and the Business Finland, convened today in Helsinki, Finland, in the presence of Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, Vice Minister of Commerce Dr. Iman Al-Mutairi, and several businessmen from both sides, to discuss ways to enhance trade and investment relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Finland.

Chairman of the Saudi Regional Business Council for Northern European Countries Majed Al-Hokair said that the forum represents a qualitative leap in the trade and investment relations between the Saudi and Finnish private sectors, with the support of the leaders and officials in the two countries, which enhances plans towards achieving the desired aspirations in economic growth and competitive advantages and raising the level of trade exchanges between the two sides.

The forum highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in economic diversification, the investment opportunities offered in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the investment and trade environment, as well as investment opportunities in Finland, and the prospects for partnership between the two countries.
