Oil prices continue to recover and exceed $88 a barrel

BaghdadOil prices continued to recover, for the second day, exceeding $88 a barrel.

Brent crude futures contracts recorded $88.56 a barrel, up by 1.8% from Wednesday’s closing price of $86.97.

US crude oil rose more than 2% in futures contracts, recording $82.15 a barrel, while it had closed yesterday at $80.55 a barrel.

PM directs to speed completion of service projects in the capital, Baghdad

BaghdadThe Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired today, Thursday morning, a meeting devoted to accelerating service projects in the city of Baghdad.

The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, “During the meeting, Al-Sudani was briefed on the progress of the implementation of projects in Baghdad, foremost of which are the capital’s entrances and gates projects, sanitation projects and street covering projects , as well as completion rates in hospital projects.”

He directed to create a mechanisms to speed up the completion and finishing the projects, and their entry into active service to provide services to citizens.

He also directed the need to find solutions to overcome problems and obstacles in a practical and quick manner.

The meeting was attended by the Governor and Amin of Baghdad, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Chairman of the Board of Advisors.

Baghdad / The Iraqi judiciary issued a death sentence for the most dangerous drug dealer who was arrested by the Popular Mobilization Security earlier.

A statement by the Popular Mobilization Authority stated that after his arrest by the Investigation Authority in the security of the Popular Mobilization, the Iraqi judiciary sentenced one of the largest drug dealers in Iraq to death by hanging.

He added that the merchant was smuggling drugs in large quantities from neighboring countries to Iraq and storing them in remote villages, after which they would be sold in the form of batches and quantities, and tens of thousands of narcotic substances and pills were also found in his possession.

BaghdadThe Military Intelligence Directorate arrested (16) suspects in various cases and seized a large number of explosive devices in separate areas of the country.

A statement by the Directorate stated that, according to accurate intelligence information from the departments and divisions (intelligence and security) of the Salah al-Din, Basra, Maysan Operations Command, and the 10th, 15th, 16th, and 20th divisions, court ambushes were set up in those provinces, which resulted in the arrest of (4) terrorists wanted by the judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article (4 of terrorism) in the districts of Ramadi, Salah al-Din and al-Azair, and (12) defendants in various cases in the districts of Heet, al-Hartha, al-Qurna, and the areas of Hammam al-Alil and Khansur. They have been duly handed over to the requesting authorities.

It added that the Directorate’s detachments were able to seize a stockpile of explosive devices in Hatra, Tal Afar, and the village of Khawaja, containing 49 homemade explosive devices of different shapes, and the engineering effort detachments took care of removing the materials and destroying them on site.

Morocco reaches the second round of the World Cup by defeating Canada 2-1

BaghdadThe Moroccan national football team qualified for the World Cup second round, by defeating Canada, with two goals to one, in the match that was held at Al-Thumama Stadium.

With this victory, the Moroccan team took the lead in the sixth Group, thus qualifying first for the group with 7 points.

The Croatian national team qualified second from the group after a draw with the Belgium national team, which left the tournament in the first round after a goalless draw in the match that was held at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium.

The Croatian national team raised its score to 5 points in second place, while Belgium’s score became 4 points, which did not grant it the pass card.
