Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Wednesday condemned in strongest terms storming of Israeli occupation entity’s settlers and officials into al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, calling upon the UN to condemn these violations and work to stop them and ensure that they do not repeat.

The Ministry said in a tweet that Syria condemns in strongest terms the storming of flocks of Israeli settlers and officials into al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards under protection of the occupation forces.

The Ministry stressed that these provocative practices are part of this occupation’s systematic policy by attacking the Palestinian holy places, attempt to obliterate their identity and seize them.

The Ministry held the Israeli entity and the countries which support it, full responsibility towards this escalation and its repercussions.

Syria calls upon the UN to condemn these violations, work to stop them, guarantee that they do not repeat and implement the international legitimacy resolutions on the occupied Palestinian territories, on top of which Jerusalem, the Ministry added.

The Ministry stressed Syria’s stand by the Palestinian people in their struggle to liberate their lands, restoring their rights and protecting their sanctities.

Mawani Signs Off 2022 with Globally-Acclaimed Achievements

Riyadh, The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has added a wave of remarkable achievements across various fronts during the year 2022 in its pursuit to transform the Kingdom’s trade hubs into an engine of investment and economic growth while positioning the national maritime sector as a global logistics destination as envisioned by the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS).

A major milestone in this journey came when Saudi Arabia led the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) for 2021, courtesy King Abdullah Port which had occupied the first position after coming second in 2020. However, it was Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdulaziz Port that had registered the greatest leaps among Saudi ports in the annual list, with the Red Sea hub soaring to the eighth spot from a modest 53rd position last year and the Arabian Gulf port landing in the fourteenth place after finishing 102nd in the previous edition.

Its golden run in global indicators continued with a score of 71.33 in UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) for Q4 2022, a 1.88 point year-on-year rise, which came on the back of the addition of nine new shipping services connecting the Kingdom to ports in the East and West.

The national maritime regulator also stepped up its efforts to upgrade the Kingdom’s trade infrastructure by signing deals worth over 2 billion riyals with industry giants to set up seven world-class logistics parks that will create more than 6,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Similarly, it had tendered 14 lucrative investment opportunities to develop and operate multipurpose terminals last year.

In a bid to expand its current portfolio of top-tier services from 46 to 150 and accelerate the push towards digitalization, Mawani had launched the Smart Ports initiative to automate operations and deploy 5G technologies across Saudi ports through agreements valued at over one billion riyals with a host of local and global partners in the tech. and logistics sectors.

Nearly 500,000 Clients in Saudi Arabia Use E-notarization of Social Cases in 2022

Riyadh, The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) announced today that nearly 500,000 clients have used the social case e-notarization service through the Najiz.sa portal in 2022. In addition, more than one million verifications of client applications have been conducted electronically.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the MoJ clarified that “the e-notarizations cover child custody, endowments, marriages, and legal heirs.” The Saudi Notarization Law has transferred a number of such jurisdictions from courts to the notarial e-system, which contributed to increased automation and better client experience.

BENEFIT announces new feature on “BenefitPay” application

Manama, BENEFIT, Bahrain’s electronic financial transactions service, has recently announced several security enhancements to the BenefitPay application with the aim of enhancing user experience when switching mobile phones.

The latest enhancements include prompting users to deactivate the BenefitPay account used on their old phone before activating it on their new device, as this step contributes to enhancing user safety and security, while limiting electronic fraud risks.

“As part of its efforts to improve and protect users’ experiences, BENEFIT is eager to periodically introduce improvements to its services and evaluate best practices,” Head of BENEFIT’s Business Development and Services Department Ahmed AlMahri said.

“In this regard, we recently modified the activation mechanism of the BenefitPay application in a new phone, as the new procedure requires that the user first cancels the activated account on the old phone before proceeding to install the application on the new phone, by selecting the Deactivate feature in the Settings menu on the old device.”

In the event that the old phone is not available for any reason or due to formatting the old device, the customer must visit BENEFIT’s customer service center at the Company’s headquarters in Seef District, where the deactivating process will be completed by a qualified employee after verifying the customer’s identity, he added.

“This measure is taken to ensure security and compliance with consumer identity verification regulations in order to protect them from fraudsters.”

BENEFIT Company staff will not contact consumers and ask for passwords, OTPs, or customer data, and if customers are subjected to such a situation, it is a fraud attempt, he warned.

Iraq achieves the highest purchase rate of US bonds in 10 years

Baghdad The US Treasury Department announced today, Wednesday, that Iraq achieved the largest purchase of its bonds during the month of October of 2022, in more than 10 years, to be one of the largest foreign holders.

It said in its latest schedule, “Iraq achieved, during the month of October of 2022, the largest purchase of US Treasury bonds, at $38 billion,” noting that “the value of these bonds increased by 86% over the value of bonds for the year 2021, and it increased by 76%.” compared to 2020, and increased by 16% compared to 2019.

It added, “Iraq’s highest possession of US Treasury bonds was in 2012, when the value of bonds in that year reached $48.3 billion, after which it decreased by 29% in 2011.”

It indicated that “Iraq was the fourth largest Arab country in terms of the value of bonds after Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, while Japan came at the head of the countries with the largest value of these bonds, followed by China second and the United Kingdom third.”
