SG of OIC Meets with Malaysian Foreign Minister

Jeddah– The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, met here today with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dr. Zambry bin Abdul Kadir .

During the meeting, they reviewed the ongoing preparations for holding the next session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, and the most important agenda of the session. They also discussed a number of regional and international issues.

The White House: Biden’s Visit to Kiev An Affirmation Of Our Commitment To Ukrainian Sovereignty

Baghdad, The White House confirmed: “The visit of US President Joe Biden to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, came as confirmation of Washington’s commitment to Ukrainian sovereignty.”

The White House said in a press statement: “Biden announced providing Kiev with new military support that includes anti-armor systems and air surveillance radars.”

Biden arrived in Kiev today on a surprise visit.

He announced from Kiev: “Ukraine will receive a new military aid package worth $500 million,” while the White House announced: “Biden will announce new sanctions against Russia that include individuals and entities.”

Relief aid from the Sultanate of Oman and Jordan reaches Nassib border crossing

Daraa, – Various humanitarian and relief aid arrived on Monday through Nassib border crossing in Daraa countryside for those affected by the earthquake, provided by the Sultanate of Oman and the Jordanian Aqaba Chamber of Commerce.

Chairman of the Chamber, Nael Kabariti, stated that a convoy carrying about 100 tons of aid was organized on board 6 trucks in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, noting that the aid includes foodstuffs, clothing, household electrical appliances and heaters, and will be delivered to Aleppo Chamber of Commerce to be distributed to the earthquake-affected people as an expression of solidarity with them.

In turn, a member of the relief sector’s executive office in Daraa Governorate, Walid al-Dakhoul said that 3 trucks provided by the Syrian community in the Sultanate of Oman arrived at Nassib border crossing, loaded with relief and medical materials for those affected by the earthquake.

On Sunday, four trucks coming from Bahrain arrived at Nassib crossing, loaded with relief materials for those affected by the earthquake.

Sabbagh to Bahraini ambassador in Damascus: Syria is always keen on joint Arab action

Damascus, – Speaker of the people’s Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh stressed, during his meeting Monday with the Bahraini ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Syria, Wahid Mubarak Sayyar, the depth of Syrian-Bahraini ties, indicating that Syria is always keen on joint Arab action and extends a helping hand towards all its Arab brothers.

During the meeting, Sabbagh called for concerted efforts by all Arab countries to achieve joint Arab solidarity in confronting the challenges facing them, explaining that this meeting, along with other Syrian-Arab meetings, will permit in more work to consolidate Arab-Arab relations.

He also expressed his hope that the Syrian-Bahraini relations would witness a qualitative development in the near future, appreciating the honorable stances of the Kingdom of Bahrain towards Syria and the role of Ambassador Sayyar in strengthening and developing bilateral relations.

Ambassador Sayyar, for his part, affirmed that every Arab effort to strengthen relations between Arab countries contributes to unifying the Arab position towards various regional and international issues and achieves the interest of future Arab generations.

He expressed Bahrain’s readiness to provide all possible assistance to Syria in facing the repercussions of the devastating earthquake.

Sayyar revealed that Bahrain will soon send a medical team to Syria specialized in treating disaster injuries, in addition to providing a helping hand with regard to humanitarian aid for those affected, including medicines, equipment, shelter supplies and electric generators.

The Bahraini ambassador reiterated the invitation extended by his country to the Speaker of the People’s Assembly and to members of the Assembly to participate in the meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held soon in Bahrain.

Syria participates in the opening of the Gulfood 2023 exhibition in Dubai

Dubai, – With the participation of Syria, the 28th edition of the Gulfood 2023 exhibition, which is one of the largest food exhibitions in the world, was launched on Monday at Dubai World Trade Center in UAE.

The exhibition, which lasts until February 24th, is among the international exhibitions specialized in food and beverage industries, with the participation of 125 countries and more than 5,000 companies specialized in the food industry and marketing, in addition to 150 spokespersons presenting their scientific expertise through conferences and seminars taking place during the exhibition in the presence of the most important businessmen.

Director General of the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority, Thaer Fayyad, said in statement to reporter that the allocated area of the Syrian pavilion has increased this year amounting to 336 square meters, along with the number of the participating companies which are 45 food ones from the public and private sectors.

Fayyad noted that the Syrian participation affirms the importance and distinction of the products as they are popular in Arab and international markets in terms of kinds and specifications according to the latest international standards.

It is noteworthy that Syria participated in the activities of the Gulfood 2022 exhibition, with a pavilion of 318 square meters, with the participation of 25 Syrian food companies.
