Henley & Partners: Invest in Namibian Real Estate and Secure Residence Rights

LONDON, March 01, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The world’s latest investment migration option — and Africa’s second — the Namibia Residence by Investment Program has been launched by Henley & Partners, the global leaders in residence and citizenship planning.

The Namibian government is actively seeking foreign investment to boost the country’s economic growth and diversify the economy. The program provides numerous opportunities for international investors seeking a foothold and growth on the African continent, including tax incentives, financing, and a one-stop bureau service for international companies. For a minimum real estate investment of USD 316,000 in the new luxury golf and eco-friendly President’s Links Estate in Walvis Bay, successful investors will receive a five-year, renewable work permit which gives them the right to live, do business, and study in Namibia.

Group Head of Private Clients at Henley & Partners, Dominic Volek, says, “We are delighted to announce this innovative new residence by investment offering in Africa. Namibia’s stunning landscape, attractive tax system, and business-friendly environment make it an ideal option for international entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, or retirees. There are fewer than 600 real estate units available in this exclusive coastal estate that qualifies for residence, so investors need to move quickly if they want to take advantage of this limited opportunity to secure residence rights in one of the most nature- and wildlife rich countries in the world.”

One of Africa’s fastest growing private wealth markets

The total private wealth currently held on the African continent is USD 2.1 trillion and is expected to rise by 38% over the next 10 years, according to the Africa Wealth Report, published by Henley & Partners in partnership with New World Wealth. Namibia is expected to be one of Africa’s fastest growing markets going forward, with high-net-worth individual (those with wealth of USD 1 million or more) growth of over 60% forecast for the next decade (until 2032). According to New World Wealth’s December 2022 statistics, Namibia holds USD 26 billion in total investable wealth. The average wealth of a resident of Namibia (wealth per capita) is USD 10,050, ranking as the third highest in Africa after Mauritius and South Africa. The nation is home to around 2,100 high-net-worth individuals and three centi-millionaires (with wealth of USD 100 million or more).

To attract inward investment, the government has made major improvements to its tax system in recent years. Namibia operates a source-based tax system, which means that foreign residents are generally only taxed on the income they generate in the country. What is more, tax rates are relatively competitive compared with many other emerging markets and particularly with neighboring countries such as South Africa. The top rate of income tax in Namibia is a modest 37%, but perhaps most notably there are no capital gains, estate, gift, inheritance, or net wealth/worth taxes.

Unprecedented interest in domicile diversification

Currently, the President’s Links Estate is the only investment route for the Namibia Residence by Investment Program. Group Head of Real Estate at Henley & Partners, Thomas Scott, says international real estate has always been a reliable asset class for global investors due to its long-term staying power. “Real estate–linked investment migration programs such as the offering in Namibia have the additional advantages of enhancing your global mobility and expanding your personal access rights as a resident or citizen of additional jurisdictions, creating optionality in terms of where you and your family can live, work, study, retire, and invest. The potential gains over the lifetime of this investment include the core value of the asset, rental yields, and global access as an ultimate hedge against both regional and global volatility.”

Volek points out that there has been significant and ongoing growth in the demand for residence and citizenship by investment options over the past few years. “The appeal of investment migration for affluent families is truly universal due to its many benefits, ranging from domicile diversification to global mobility enhancement, to accessing world-class education and healthcare, to having a plan B in times of turmoil. No matter where you were born, or where you currently reside, wealthy investors can futureproof themselves and their families for whatever might lie ahead through investment migration options such as the new Namibia Residence by Investment Program.”

Polyanskiy: Israeli attacks on Syria a flagrant violation of international law

New York, SANA- First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, has stressed the need to stop the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, the most recent of which was the attack that targeted points in and around Damascus which caused the martyrdom of five people and the injury of 15 others.

“We strongly condemn the Israeli military acts as a flagrant violation of international law, and we strongly urge the Israeli side to stop armed provocations against Syria and refrain from steps that are fraught with dangerous consequences for the entire region,” Polyanskiy said during a session of the Security Council on Wednesday.

Polyanskiy added that Moscow proceeds from the fact that the continuation of such practices is completely unacceptable, especially when many countries of the world, including Russia, are helping the Syrians to overcome the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria.

Abdollahian: Unjust blockade on Syria must be lifted to improve humanitarian situation

Geneva, SANA- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has underlined the necessity of lifting the unjust embargo imposed on Syria in order to improve the humanitarian situation in the country.

Unfortunately, the recent earthquake that jolted Syria has worsened the difficult humanitarian situation in some regions compared to the past, therefore it is necessary to lift imposed embargo, IRNA News Agency quoted Abdollahian as saying during his meeting with Under-UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, Martin Griffiths

He highlighted the humanitarian aid provided by Iran to Syria after the recent earthquake, adding that as in the past, Tehran is always ready to cooperate with UN and Special Envoy of the Secretary-General in order to improving health and humanitarian conditions in Syria

In turn, Griffiths expressed his hope of the positive impact of recent political developments on Arab relations with Syria.

UN APPEALS FOR $4.3 BN TO HELP MILLIONS IN WAR-TORN YEMEN

The United Nations said it needed $4.3 billion this year to help millions of people in war-ravaged Yemen, ahead of a donors’ conference on Monday.

Aid agencies need the money to help more than 17 million people in the country, which has been devastated by an eight-year civil war.

The conflict has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and plunged the poorest country on the Arabian Peninsula into one of the world’s worst humanitarian tragedies.

Yemen is also at the forefront of the climate crisis, with severe drought and flooding threatening lives, the UN said.

It acknowledged that “record global humanitarian needs are stretching donor support like never before”.

“But without sustained support for the aid operation in Yemen, the lives of millions of Yemenis will hang in the balance, and efforts to end the conflict once and for all will become even more challenging,” it said in a statement.

In 2015, a Saudi-led coalition intervened to back the government after the Huthis seized control of the capital Sanaa and large swathes of the country.

A truce that began on April 2 last year expired on October 2.

UN chief Antonio Guterres, who will attend Monday’s donor conference in Geneva, said the international community had “the power and the means to end this crisis”.

“And it begins by funding our appeal fully and committing to disbursing funds quickly,” he said in the statement.

Last year, the UN raised more than $2.2 billion to enable aid agencies to reach nearly 11 million people across the country every month.-

AT LEAST FOUR DEAD AFTER 5.2-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS EASTERN TURKEY

At least four people have died after a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Turkey on Monday, an Al Arabiya correspondent said.

The quake was at a depth of 5 kilometers (3.10 miles), said EMSC, which had earlier reported that the quake was of a higher magnitude before revising the number.

Monday’s earthquake was centered in the town of Yesilyurt in Malatya province, the country’s disaster management agency said.

Yesilyurt’s mayor, Mehmet Cinar, told HaberTurk television that a few buildings had collapsed in the town.

Malatya was among 11 Turkish provinces that was hit hard by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that devastated parts of southern Turkey and northern Syria on Feb. 6.

That quake led to more than 48,000 deaths in both countries as well as the collapse or serious damage of 173,000 buildings in Turkey.

AFAD, Turkey’s disaster management agency, said that close to 10,000 aftershocks have hit the region affected by the quake since Feb. 6.

Turkey has arrested 184 people suspected of responsibility for the collapse of buildings in this month’s earthquakes and investigations are widening, a Turkish minister said on Saturday.—Agencies
