Conference of Arab Ministers of Education Stresses Importance of KSA’s “Gifted Arabs” Initiative

The 13th Conference of Arab Ministers of Education called on Arab countries to nominate their students to participate in the “Gifted Arabs” initiative organized by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba” in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization “ALECSO”.

This announcement came at the conclusion of the conference, which was held in Rabat from 29-30 May 2023 under the auspices of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, organized by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, in cooperation with the National Committee for Education, Science, and Culture, and in partnership with ALECSO under the slogan “Future of Education in the Arab World in the Digital Transformation Era.”

The Secretary-General of the Mawhiba Foundation, Dr. Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazzaa, said the Kingdom’s initiative, “Gifted Arabs”, has been very successful and focuses on investing in young Arab energies of gifted and creative people, which leads to nurturing and captivating gifted Arabs and creative people and providing them with an appropriate environment to benefit from their qualitative capabilities and empowering them to lead change and create the future.

Director General of Mawhiba’s Center of Excellence, Dr. Khaled Al-Sharif, thanked the organizers in Morocco and the ministers for their interest in the “Gifted Arabs” initiative, which was launched in 2021, stressing the need to invest in education in general, and programs to explore and nurture gifted and creative people, in particular, to achieve outstanding education for all according to their abilities.

Saudi Arabia’s Dates Exports Increased in the First Quarter of 2023 to More than SR 566 Million

Saudi Arabia’s exports of raw and processed dates hit more than SR566 million in the first quarter of 2023, a 2.5 % increase compared to the same period of last year, it was reported today.

According to an official report by the National Center for Palms and Dates, the ratio of stored and fresh dates amounted to 77%, and the transformational industrialized dates accounted for 23% of the total exports.

The dates were exported to 111 countries of the worldwide, led by China where the Saudi dates exports rate increased by 150% worth SR 7,654,212; Austria by 60% worth SR 1,996,000; Belgium by 23% worth SR1,232,592; Turkiye by 30% worth SR 22,303,831; Russia by 95% worth SR 2,697,239; and Canada by 40% worth SR3,993,901.

Al-Sudani receives a delegation from the tribal elders of Al-Diwaniyah Governorate

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, received today, Friday, a delegation of tribal sheikhs and notables of Al-Diwaniyah Governorate.

Al-Sudani listened to a presentation on the social and living conditions of the people of the governorate, and the most important service problems they face.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed the importance of the role played by the clan as a social entity that promotes civil peace and supports state agencies to perform duties, provide services, and meet the aspirations of citizens.

The Prime Minister indicated that the government has placed on the top of its priorities the advancement of the economic and living conditions, and that this matter has begun to become clear by going towards strategic projects that alleviate crises and provide job opportunities, referring to the work of the service and engineering effort that included the Diwaniyah governorate and other governorates in order to provide services in unserved areas.

The FM will attend Erdogan’s inauguration ceremony as a representative of the Iraqi government

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that its Minister Fuad Hussein will attend the inauguration ceremony of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, representing the government.

Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahhaf said in a statement, “Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein will attend tomorrow the inauguration ceremony of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” representing the government of the Republic of Iraq.

A security source: The air strike within Hamrin Basin in Diyala destroys an ISIS cell, kills 5 terrorists

A security source revealed the details of the air strike in Hamrin Basin, northeast of Baquba. Diyala Governorate Center.

He told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the air strike targeted a secret hideout of an ISIS cell after monitoring the movements of its members and determining their hiding place by intelligence monitoring in Hamrin Basin, northeast of Baquba.

He added that the air operation resulted in the killing of 5 terrorists, including a leader within the Hamrin axis in ISIS, nicknamed Abu Mustafa.

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs meets with ASEAN Secretary General

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met with Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Kao Kim Hourn, on the sidelines of his participation in the 20th session of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, in Singapore.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa affirmed keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to boost political and economic cooperation as well as strategic partnership with the ASEAN member states, in light of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) which Bahrain joined in 2019. He pointed out keenness to support the treaty’s goals of promoting regional and international peace and security as well as enhancing international cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, no interference in domestic affairs, and solving conflicts peacefully.

The ASEAN Secretary General commended keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to foster the Gulf and Arab cooperation and further consolidate political and economic partnership with ASEAN member states. He wished Bahrain more growth and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Head of the Asian and Pacific Ocean Affairs Sector at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Fatima Abdullah Al-Dhaen.

Higher Education Council Secretary General receives RCSI delegation

Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, received a delegation from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, led by Professor Sameer Atoum, the President of RCSI-Bahrain.

The meeting was held in the presence of Acting Assistant Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Farazana Al-Meraghi.

Discussions focused on the programmes to be launched by the college in the future in medicine and nursing to cater to the needs of hospitals and the healthcare sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Al-Jahrami underlined support of the Higher Education Council to the higher education establishments to preserve the quality of the educational outputs and develop medical education in the kingdom.

Equal Opportunities Committee holds meeting

The Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Social Development convened for its second meeting to discuss plans set out for 2023.

Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development Unas Mohammed Al Majid chaired the session, stressing the importance of reinforcing the principles of equal opportunities.

She noted the drive to integrate women’s needs which contributes to achieving gender balance through strategies and initiatives.

She highlighted the importance of building the capacities of civil society institutions and supporting institution work to further integrate women’s needs.

Al-Majed pointed out the importance of reviewing the committee’s plans and initiatives, to deliver the goals set out, and meet the indicators of the national report, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women.

HEC Secretary-General receives Gulf University delegation

Higher Education Council (HEC) Secretary-General Dr. Diana Al Johromi received a delegation from Gulf University, led by Board of Trustees’ Chair, Dr. Mona Rashid Al Zayani.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Johromi commended the role of higher education institutions in supporting competences and meeting labour market requirements.

The delegation congratulated Dr. Al Johromi on the issuance of the Royal Decree appointing her as HEC Secretary-General, praising the council board of trustees’ support to higher education institutions.
