A 6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Coast of Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit off the coast of Indonesia today. According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake’s epicentre was located in the Banda Sea at a depth of 20 km and 346 km southwest of Ambon, a city with a population of around 355,000 people.

There is no information available yet about the possibility of a tsunami as a result of the earthquake.

There have been no reports of damage thus far.
