Arab States Broadcasting Union Holds 2nd Arab Media Conference in Tunisia

Tunis, Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) held here today a press conference revealing the details of the 2nd edition of the Arab Media Conference scheduled for January 13 and 14, under the slogan “Global Digital Hegemony and Arab Ways to Confront It”.

Saudi Arabia is participating in this conference with a delegation from the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, chaired by the President of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and CEO of Saudi Broadcasting Authority, Mohammad bin Fahd Al-Harithi, in addition to many concerned Arab and non-Arab parties, including the Arab League, specialized Arab organizations, Arab Media ministers, regional broadcasting unions and digital media companies, Arab and international experts in media, economics, and sociology.

ASBU Director General Eng. Abdelrahim Suleiman, said in his opening speech at the press conference that the 2nd Arab media Conference will discuss several challenges facing the Arab world and other regions, adding that the emergence of the digital revolution and its expansion and the solutions it provided had profound side effects that have impacted other countries who have not contributed to change and contented themselves with consuming its technologies and reaping its gains.

Eng. Abdelrahim also reviewed the ASBU activities during the past year and the details of the next session of the Arab Radio and Television Festival, which will be hosted by Tunisia from 12 to 14 June.

The two-day conference will discuss axes related to the challenges posed in the Arab world in the cultural, social, and media fields, as well as the digital economy and digital tax, and personal data protection and cybersecurity.

The activities of the Arab Media Conference will also focus on the action plan and the strategy proposed to be followed in the Arab world by presenting several ideas, proposals, and perceptions in digital content, the technological and legislative fields, and the idea of establishing Arab platforms as a safe option for the Arab region to preserve its common values.
