Iraq And Sweden Discuss The Voluntary Return Of Iraqis Residing On Its Territory And Resolving The Issue Through Legal Mechanisms

Baghdad, Iraq and Sweden discussed the issue of the voluntary return of Iraqis residing on its lands and the importance of resolving the issue through legal mechanisms.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanji, met with the Swedish Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, at his request, on the sidelines of his participation in the work of the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council, at the United Nations Palace in Geneva, in the presence of Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa.

According to the statement, the two sides discussed the most important current international events and ways to develop political, commercial and development relations between the two countries.

According to the statement, during the meeting, the issue of the voluntary return of Iraqis residing in Sweden and the importance of resolving this issue through legal mechanisms were also discussed.

Turkish Intelligence Arrests A Leader Of The (PKK) And Transits Him To Turkey From Inside Iraq

Istanbul, The Turkish Intelligence Service announced that it had brought a leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to Turkey after his arrest in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.

The Turkish intelligence service said in a statement today that Ramadan Günes, known as Suresh, a leader in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) was arrested in the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah in a security operation carried out by a group of the intelligence service, and he was transferred to Turkey.

He pointed out that Günes was responsible for carrying out 12 attacks, which resulted in the killing of 60 Turkish security personnel.

The Turkish intelligence service stated that Günes joined the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in 2008, and worked for many years in the Turkish province of Hakkari, Iraq and Syria.

Baghdad, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree suspending Russia’s work with the Charter of the Council of Europe, in addition to 20 international treaties with this organization.

In total, 21 documents were suspended, including European agreements on the suppression of terrorism, protection of human rights, the European Charter on Local Government, the European Social Charter, and others.

On March 15, 2022, Russia announced its intention to withdraw from the Council of Europe after the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the February 25 Organization to suspend its right to represent it in the organization’s approved bodies.

More Than 800,000 Liters Of Oil Derivatives Intended To Smuggled Seized In Several Regions

Baghdad, The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency at the Ministry of Interior seized more than 850,000 liters of oil derivatives, 11 sites and 24 vehicles used to transport oil and its derivatives illegally in separate areas.

It stated in a statement: The agency’s detachments seized a smuggling operation of more than (850,000 liters) as a result of discovering 11 sites violating the trading in oil products, seizing 24 vehicles and arresting their drivers used for trading and recycling oil and its derivatives informally.

It added: Large tanks of different capacities containing oil products were also seized.

The Minister of Electricity to the Italian Ambassador: We have successful experiences with Italian companies

Baghdad, The Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, affirmed the government’s keenness to complete qualitative projects, such as exploiting gas fields and establishing thermal plants.

A statement by the Ministry of Electricity stated that the Minister received today, Tuesday, in his office, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq and his accompanying delegation, and stressed that this meeting comes as a continuation of previous meetings and gatherings within the framework of high coordination to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between Iraq and Italy in the field of energy in a manner that achieves the interests of the two countries.

The Minister said, “There are joint and successful work experiences for Italian companies with electricity, such as (Ansaldo), and we look forward to more opportunities to move forward together with these companies that have good and promising technical capabilities.”

He stressed the keenness of the government and the Ministry to complete qualitative projects such as exploiting gas fields, establishing thermal production stations, installing combined cycles, and heading towards establishing projects for renewable energy stations.

For his part, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for providing such opportunities for his country’s companies to compete with others.

He said: “We have confidence in achieving common gains through our expertise and technology in renewable energy projects, smart systems and measures.”

Rescuing 32 people trapped under the rubble following the earthquake in Malatya, eastern Turkey

Istanbul, The head of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency, AFAD, Yunus Sezer, announced that 32 people trapped under the rubble were rescued as a result of the earthquake that struck the eastern province of Malatya, on Monday noon.

Sezer said in a press conference from AFAD headquarters in the capital, Ankara, that 29 buildings collapsed as a result of the recent earthquake in Malatya, that 657 personnel participated in search and rescue work in the collapsed buildings in the state, and that 32 people were rescued from under the rubble.

He added that the recent earthquake resulted in the death of one person and the injury of 110 others, while search and rescue work continues in two collapsed buildings.

An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck Malatya today noon.

Baghdad, The Federal Police forces arrested 3 persons accused of murder and drug use in Baghdad.

A statement by the Federal Police Command stated: “Two suspects of murder were arrested in Al-Fadhiliyah area after collecting and analyzing information. The weapon that was used in the crime, which is a Kalashnikov rifle, was found in their possession.”
