BACA participates in Gulf Cinema Festival


Riyadh, The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) participated in the fourth edition of the Gulf Cinema Festival in Riyadh.

Bahraini director Hussain Al Rifai was honored as one of the leading figures in the Gulf arts and culture scene.

Al Rifai is considered a prominent film director known for his contributions to enhancing the cultural movement in the kingdom and abroad.

He contributed to the establishment of many Bahraini and Arab art and cinematic initiatives, such as the Arab Theatre Training Centre in Beirut, the Arab Project for Theater and Arts in Cairo, and Al Sawari Theatre in Bahrain.

Al Rifai also participated in many international art forums, directed theatrical works, and produced and directed several short films that won international awards.

The festival, organised by the Saudi Film Commission and in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), will be held until April 18.

BACA will screen a number of Bahraini films such as The Sea Bride
by Mohammed Ateeq; Close the Door! by Saleh Nass; The documentary film Sound of Feathers by Maryam Abdulghaffar; as well as the feature film Rose Water “May Ward” by Mahmoud Al Shaikh.
