The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) discussed strengthening cooperation with the Jordan Red Crescent Society in different areas of relief and humanitarian work. This includes consulting and coordinating their response to regional and international relief appeals, participating in events within the International Red Crescent and Red Cross Movement, as well as training and capacity building for volunteers. The collaboration also involves delivering aid to Syrian refugees in the Zaatari camp in Jordan and addressing other relevant matters.
This occurred when a delegation from the Bahrain Red Crescent Society participated in the Jordan Red Crescent’s 75th anniversary celebration in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Bahraini delegation consisted of Mubarak Al-Hadi, the Secretary-General of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, and Dr. Fawzi Amin, a member of the Society’s Board of Directors.
During the event, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI-Bahrain) was recognized for its continuous support and provision of healthcare to refugees in Jordan. This was part of their collaboration with the Jordan Red Crescent Society, the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, and the Operation Child Life Foundation. Prof. Samir Al Atoum, the President of RCSI-Bahrain, accepted the award on behalf of the university.
Mr. Al-Hadi emphasized the significance of such engagements in facilitating the collaboration among Red Crescent and Red Cross societies in humanitarian and charitable endeavors. These efforts aim to assist individuals affected by natural disasters, conflicts, and those requiring relief and humanitarian aid globally. The involvement includes delivering social services and assistance, training and preparing volunteers, promoting international humanitarian law, and other related areas.
The Bahrain Red Crescent Society has established a memorandum of understanding with the Jordan Red Crescent Society, the Medical University of Bahrain, and the Operation Child Life Foundation. This memorandum aims to coordinate community, charitable, and educational activities for the benefit of individuals and communities at local, regional, and global levels. The collaboration involves the exchange of faculty and student staff, collaborative research projects, lectures, seminars, information sharing, academic materials, capacity building in reaching out to those in need, and providing comprehensive, high-quality, and prompt support to respond to relief appeals from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
