Minister of Education and Kuwaiti Education Minister Discuss Cooperation Aspects in Education

London, on the sidelines of the Global Education Summit being held in London, Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh met today with Kuwaiti Minister of Education Dr. Ali bin Fahd Al-Mudhaf.

During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the scientific and research fields, the education suffering during the coronavirus pandemic, and the summit’s agenda.

They also discussed coordination and integration policies to support education programs globally.

Two bronze medal and three appreciation certificates for Syria in International Physics Olympiad

Damascus, Students of the Syrian scientific Olympiad obtained on Saturday two bronze medals and 3 certificates of appreciation in the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO) ,organized by Lithuania (remotely) on the 19th and 21st of July, with the participation of 370 students from 76 countries around the world.

Distinction and Creativity Agency said in a statement that the two bronze medals were gained by each of the students, Abdullah a-Hosni from Damascus and Muhammad Subhi Abu Raddan from Aleppo, while the certificates of appreciation were won by Abdul Aziz Jarba from Aleppo, Ammar Ali from Lattakia and Hadi Salloum from Tartous.

Syrian Publishers’ Union: more than 70 Syrian publishers participate in Cairo International Book Fair

Cairo, The 52nd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, to be held on Wednesday in Cairo, under the slogan (reading is life), with the participation of 1218 publishers from 25 countries, including Syria.

In a statement to SANA’s reporter in Cairo, Haitham Hafez, head of the Syrian Publishers Union, said that more than 70 Syrian publishers will participate in the exhibition.

He pointed out that the Syrian publishers carry with them the best of what Syrian books have collected in all fields, especially those related to children, knowledge and translation books.

Hafez said that there will be an extended meeting between the Syrian and Egyptian Publishers Association to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries and develop the publishing mechanism to serve the Syrian and Egyptian readers, there will also be Syrian participation in the Arab Publishers’ Association meeting, which will be held on the sidelines of exhibition’s activities.

Cairo International Book Fair, which will be held amid precautionary measures due to the Coronavirus pandemic, will continue until the 15th of next July.

Deputy Minister of Education for Universities Affairs Receives US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Benyam

Riyadh, Deputy Minister of Education for Universities Affairs, Research and Innovation, Dr. Mohammad bin Ahmed Al-Sudairy met here today with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Benyam.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Charge d’Affairs at the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia Martina Strong, and the Cultural Attaché Mario Krivo, ways to enhance joint cooperation in educational, scientific, research and e-learning fields, were discussed.

The meeting also reviewed strengthening partnerships between universities in the two countries and exchanging experiences in educational programs.

Minister of Education Reviews with his Brazilian Counterpart Saudi Model in Distance Education

Rome, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al Al-Sheikh met today with Brazilian Minister of Education Milton Ribeiro, on the sidelines of the meeting of G20 Education Ministers in Catania, Italy.

During the meeting, they reviewed the Saudi global model in distance education and areas of joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Brazil in the educational aspects, scientific and research partnerships between the universities in the two countries, as well as the Brazilian experience in managing the educational process for more than 56 million students during the pandemic.

The Brazilian Minister of Education noted the great and distinguished efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the G20 Summit 2020, praising the success of the Saudi experience in distance education during the pandemic.

Islamic University President Receives Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Madinah, Prince Dr. Mamduh bin Saud bin Thunayyan, President of the Islamic University received here today Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Muhamed Jusic.

The President of the Islamic University presented an overview of the university, its various scientific and research tracks, its global mission to serve the Islamic religion and society, as well as the role that the university offers to the international students.

Later, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina toured the Central Library, the Sports City, and the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education.

Syria participates in International Informatics Olympiad (IOI) 2021 in Singapore

Damascus, With participation of students from Syrian Science Olympiad, First round of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)2021 in Singapore which is organized virtually from 22nd to 25th of June with participation of 88 countries.

Distinctive and Creativity Authority said in a statement to SANA that the Syrian students participating in the competition are Muhammad Nour al-Masry and Bishr Islambouli from Aleppo, Ali Mansour from Lattakia, and Antoine Dabbous from Homs.

The contest includes two rounds of five continuous hours each to deal with problem-solving of algorithmic nature and computer programming.

This is the 13th Syrian participation in this largest scientific contest in the world in informatics field.

Minister of Education Meets with his Italian Counterpart

Riyadh, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al Al-Sheikh met today with Italian Minister of Public Education Patrizio Bianchi, on the sidelines of the meeting of G20 Education Ministers in Catania, Italy.

During the meeting, they discussed areas of joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Italy in the educational aspects, scientific and research partnerships between the universities in the two countries, as well as the agenda for the meeting of G20 Education Ministers.

Bianchi praised the great and distinguished efforts being exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the G20 Summit 2020.

He added that the Kingdom’ success achieved in distance education during the coronavirus pandemic a leading global model, and his country will take advantage of this model in linking the Italian regions to a single education platform, such as the “Madrasati”.

Mawhiba Enriching Program Launched in Partnership with Five Universities to Benefit 6,000 Students in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Enriching Mawhiba (Giftedness) Program, organized by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), was launched here today in partnership with five Saudi universities, with the aim of transforming 6,000 students from various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia into engineers, doctors and scientists in 23 scientific units to be provided intensively over 21 days. The advanced scientific units of the program were prepared in cooperation with Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY).

These efforts are part of the Foundation’s programs offered to students who have been discovered through the national program to reach talented students, which is annually held by Mawhiba in a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and allows all public education students across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to register in the program through their schools or directly.

The summer academic enriching program seeks to boost students’ cognitive knowledge, increase efficiency and preparedness, build scientific and practical expertise and challenge students’ abilities and develop their skills.

Mawhiba noted that this summer’s academic enriching program will include scientific and skill aspects, which will contribute to enhancing personal and social skills and acquainting students with the 21st century skills

Islamic University President Receives Japanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Madinah, Prince Dr. Mamduh bin Saud bin Thunayyan, President of the Islamic University received here today the Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fumio Iwai and accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and means to promote them, in addition to review the most prominent educational, research and academic programs provided by the university.

1,261 New Confirmed COVID-19 Cases, 922 Recoveries Reported in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, The Ministry of Health announced, in a statement here today, that 1,261 new confirmed cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number to 459,968, including 9,698 active cases.

Of these, there are 1,580 critical cases, while the health condition of the rest is stable.

It added that 17 new deaths have been reported; putting the tally of fatalities, at 7,488.

Meanwhile, as many as 922 cases have recovered, raising recoveries’ toll to 442,782.

Syrian students, community in Tunisia celebrate the winning of Dr. Bashar al-Assad in presidential election

Tunis, Members of the Syrian community and the National Union for Syrian Students in Tunisia, in cooperation with Tunisian National Societies, held an event in celebration of the success of the presidential election and the winning of Dr. Bashar al-Assad in the post of President of the Republic.

During the event, the participants congratulated the new victory that was achieved through the completion of the election despite the efforts exerted by enemies of Syria to obstruct this process through pressure and sanctions, affirming that work, under the leadership of President al-Assad, will continue to rebuild Syria.

The participants raised the Syrian and Tunisian national flags, demanding the restoration of diplomatic relation with Syria and breaking the unjust siege imposed on the country.
