Bahrain News Agency wins Best Photography Award

Bahrain News Agency (BNA) won the “Best Photography Award” in the seventh edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, which was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Photographer Yousif Tulefat from BNA took the photo of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Holiness Pope Francis during the latter’s visit to Bahrain in November 2022.

The photo, which documents a historical event, affirms the vision of coexistence and peace advocated by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

World Cultures Celebrated at 11th Festival of Cultures and Peoples in Madinah

The 11th Festival of Cultures and Peoples organized by the Islamic University of Madinah features more than 80 pavilions representing very many countries of the world. The festival aims to enable students to showcase the cultures of their countries in a forum that promotes dialogue, coexistence, love and peace among all peoples in a rich educational and cultural environment. It also helps boost communication between university students and the community.

The festival continues until Saturday. Visitors can take part in different entertainment, educational and cultural activities, and enjoy a set of cultural exhibitions and displays

Fine Arts Exhibition Titled “Bareeq” Opened at Oman-Across-Ages Museum in Manah

A modern art exhibition codenamed “Bareeq” was inaugurated today at Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Dr. Mona Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation.

The exhibition was organized by Sheikha Nadira Al Riyami School and in partnership with Omani Women’s Association in the Wilayat of Manah.

The exhibition included innovative works of art that expressed identity, traditions and heritage, with special emphasis on the role of Omani women in several artistic fields.

Syria participates in the opening of the Gulfood 2023 exhibition in Dubai

Dubai, – With the participation of Syria, the 28th edition of the Gulfood 2023 exhibition, which is one of the largest food exhibitions in the world, was launched on Monday at Dubai World Trade Center in UAE.

The exhibition, which lasts until February 24th, is among the international exhibitions specialized in food and beverage industries, with the participation of 125 countries and more than 5,000 companies specialized in the food industry and marketing, in addition to 150 spokespersons presenting their scientific expertise through conferences and seminars taking place during the exhibition in the presence of the most important businessmen.

Director General of the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority, Thaer Fayyad, said in statement to reporter that the allocated area of the Syrian pavilion has increased this year amounting to 336 square meters, along with the number of the participating companies which are 45 food ones from the public and private sectors.

Fayyad noted that the Syrian participation affirms the importance and distinction of the products as they are popular in Arab and international markets in terms of kinds and specifications according to the latest international standards.

It is noteworthy that Syria participated in the activities of the Gulfood 2022 exhibition, with a pavilion of 318 square meters, with the participation of 25 Syrian food companies.

The civil defense teams put out a fire that broke out inside the Zayouna mall, after evacuating shoppers and working staff.

A statement by the Directorate stated that a fire broke out today, Friday, on the upper floors inside a fast food restaurant, causing thick smoke throughout the mall, where the civil defense teams rushed and put out the fire at first sight using fire extinguishers, and ensured the safety of workers and finished their work after stressing the need to observe safety conditions inside the Mall restaurants.

Al-Fadhli Receives UN Secretary of Convention to Combat Desertification

Riyadh– Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli received at his office today Ibrahim Thiaw, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

The meeting discussed the arrangements regarding the Kingdom’s hosting of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) in 2024, in addition to the Kingdom’s procedures to protect the environment and combat desertification and drought, including the Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives.

HM King, BDF chief exchange congratulations on BDF’s 55th anniversary

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, today received a cable of congratulations from Commander-in-Chief of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of BDF.

Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and on behalf of HRH Crown Prince, Riyadh Region Governor attends closing ceremony of King Abdulaziz Camel Festival

Al-Sayahed, Saudi Arabia– Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and on behalf of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, today attended the closing ceremony of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, in its 7th edition, in Al-Sayahed, north of Riyadh.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Camel Club and the General Supervisor of the Festival, Fahd Bin Falah Bin Hathleen, delivered a speech in which he said, “The King Abdulaziz Camel Festival is the best application for contemplating the beauty and grandeur of the creation of this creature.”

He revealed that the total number of participating camels increased from 24,000 in the sixth edition to 35,000 in the seventh edition, and the number of participants increased from 1,900 participants in the sixth edition to 2,200 participants in the seventh edition. He praised the concerted efforts and the accuracy of setting goals so authentic heritage becomes one of the most important components that the Kingdom exports to the rest of the world, adding that the goal of the Camel Club is to transform the sector into an integrated economic system that benefits the Saudi community and at the international level.

Bin Hathleen said, “I congratulate, in your name, the champion, the owner of “’Al-Shaddad,’ and announce the victory of Abdul Mohsen bin Saleh Al-Rajhi, who competed with might in most of the competitions and runs of the festival, collecting 2730 points, surpassing the champion of the first edition by more than 1900 points, which reflects the high competitiveness in this event.”

He concluded by saying, “HRH, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, on behalf of the owners of camels, their fans, and their audience, I would like to express my greatest appreciation for your unlimited support and your attendance of this festival on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and we vow to continue our efforts to meet what the leadership of this country aspires to in this vital sector, which reflects a solid and authentic heritage that participated in the march of unification and contributes to the objectives of the ambitious Saudi vision”.

Prince Faisal and the audience listened to a poem presented by poet Sultan bin Batlaa, and then watched a movie and a dramatic scene about the interest of the founder King Abdulaziz Al Saud in camels. Prince Faisal bin Bandar also honored the winners of the King Abdulaziz Camel Racing Award.

Saudi National Competitiveness Center and IMD sign a bilateral agreement in Switzerland

Lausanne– The Saudi National Competitiveness Center (NCC) and the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), in the presence of Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of NCC, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, signed today in Lausanne, Switzerland, a bilateral agreement aimed at adopting frameworks for managing continuous relations between the two sides.

Dr. Al-Qasabi, after the signing ceremony which witnessed the participation of the Saudi Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation Dr. Adel Siraj Mirdad, affirmed that the National Competitiveness Center seeks, through the agreements it concludes, to build strategic partnerships with organizations and centers for developing global competitiveness, to contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to improve the business environment and put the Kingdom among the 10 most competitive countries in the world.

The Center was represented at the signing of the agreement by the Deputy Minister of Commerce and CEO of the Center, Dr. Iman Al-Mutairi, who indicated that this agreement and other agreements reflect the center’s keenness to benefit from various international experiences to ensure the adoption of the best methods and practices that lead to enhancing the competitiveness of the Kingdom globally.

IMD Director of the Global Competitiveness Center, Professor Arturo Bris, said that the agreement will work to enhance cooperation between the two sides, especially enhancing analytical expertise in the field of competitiveness.

Under the agreement, NCC will obtain advisory services from the institute, which includes a group of senior consultants specializing in management development, resident executives, human resources and talent management consultants, learning managers, and executive coaches, in addition to access to a wide range of knowledge from business sources around the world, through the institute’s global knowledge platform.

Moreover, NCC will be able to analyze and study the competitiveness data that the IMD is working on, in addition to participating in the dialogue sessions held by the institute, in which experts and CEOs participate to discuss the latest developments in management thought, in addition to benefiting from the educational and training programs of the institute.

IMD is one of the recognized institutions in competitiveness internationally. It issues the IMD World Competitiveness Rankings Yearbook (WCY), which is classified as one of the most important global reports and a reference for international organizations and institutions.

The Kingdom advanced eight ranks in the 2022 edition of WCY, compared to the previous year, ranking 24th among the 63 most competitive countries in the world, recording the second-best progress among the countries under measurement, and 7th among the G20 countries, driven by the improvement of the Kingdom’s ranking in all four main axes measured by the report, in addition to its entry into the list of the top 10 countries globally in a large number of sub-indicators, mainly the adaptation to government policy, digital transformation in companies, long-term workforce growth and public financial management.
