Accreditation of 76 Intellectual Property Respect Officer for Government Entities

Riyadh, Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) announced the completion of the initiative of the Intellectual Property Respect Officer for Government Entities in its first batch, where 76 officials were accredited as IP Respect Officers after passing the qualification program, which included a number of workshops and training courses in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

This initiative aims to enhance respect for intellectual property in all government entities, by empowering, training and qualifying an officer from each entity, in addition to activating a continuous partnership between SAIP and the public sector. Through this initiative, compliance with regulations and laws is raised, and intellectual property policies are prepared. In addition to raising awareness and managing and protecting the interests of government entities related to intellectual property assets.

The CEO of SAIP, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Suwailem, confirmed that we seek through this initiative to enhance respect for intellectual property rights by activating the self-inspection of government entities by the IP Respect Officer representing the entity. We are also working to develop partnerships between SAIP and government sectors and raise commitment to intellectual property rights at the level of government entities and the private sector.

Dr. Al-Suwailem stressed on the importance of managing intellectual property assets for government entities in general and in particular the scientific and research entities and those targeted for privatization, and concluded his word by thanking all the entities that interacted with this national initiative.

It is worth noting that the initiative of the Intellectual Property Respect Officer is a qualitative model that is unique to the Kingdom in the field of intellectual property and its protection.

SAMA Issues 2nd Quarterly Report of 2021 for Insurance Sector

Riyadh, SAMA announces the release of the second quarterly report of the year 2021 for the insurance sector. The report compares the performance of the insurance sector during Q2 of the year 2021 with the corresponding quarter in the preceding year. It also compares the performance during the first half of 2021 with the same period in the preceding year.

This report is published as part of the Central Bank’s commitment to provide accurate and up-to-date information on the performance of the insurance sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Overall, the sector showed positive developments during Q2 of the year 2021. The gross written premiums grew by 8.1% to reach 9.4 billion SAR in the second quarter of 2021 compared to 8.7 billion SAR in the corresponding period last year, with the majority of insurance classes witnessing a growth in premiums. Among P&C classes, Energy and Property classes were the biggest classes by premium volume during Q2 of the year 2021, growing by 98% and 8% respectively over Q2 of the year 2020. Protection and saving insurance classes also grew by 34% reaching 436 Million SAR in Q2 of the year 2021. The Net income decreased by 59% driven by an 89.6% decrease in Operational Income. This decrease is attributable to the claims returning back to the pre-pandemic normal levels. The Solvency ratio improved to reach 172.2%.

Arab Parliament Speaker Appreciates Saudi Arabia’s Pioneering Role in Promoting Interreligious Dialogue

Cairo, Speaker of Arab Parliament Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, has praised the pioneering role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, in promoting interreligious dialogue and peaceful coexistence, citing the efforts King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) is exerting.

This came in Al-Asoumi’s speech before a high-level panel discussion held in Italy, organized by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), on the role of parliamentarians in promoting interreligious dialogue.

Riyadh, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sent a cable of condolence to the President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of the Republic of Portugal on the death of former president Jorge Sampaio.

In his cable, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed condolences and sympathy to the President, the family of the deceased and the people of the Republic of Portugal.

Saudi Health Council Discusses Mechanism to Apply Medical Coding Licensing Service at Health Facilities in Kingdom

Riyadh, Health Minister and Chairman of the Saudi Health Council (SHC) Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah here today chaired the 95th meeting of the Council which was held at the headquarters of the National Health Emergency Operation Center (NHEOC) in Riyadh. The meeting discussed the Saudi Central Board’s services for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) in assessing government health sectors.

The SHC also went over the capacity-demand approach that aims at helping health sectors plan for future expansions to provide services in a way that accords with the population’s needs of healthcare that are prepared by Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority and discussed the executive plan that will be applied before its accreditation.

The Council had checked on the updated mechanism to apply medical coding licensing service, in a bid to support the work of the National Health Information Center and its tasks in terms of data management, enhancing the best use of medical coding system at health facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and providing them with the accredited coding and unified standards systems.

At the end of the meeting, attendees discussed a proposal to form national committees under the umbrella of the secretariat general of SHC, namely a national committee for dentistry and a national committee for medical rehabilitation, which will be tasked with considering scientific and health subjects referred by the secretariat general and the Council, preparing policies and standards, revising laws and regulations related to their scientific and health specializations, suggesting their amendments according to specialization or field, suggesting rules of procedures and technical rules, in addition to any other tasks that are added to the committee according to its specialization.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Al-Rabiah and members of the Council toured NHEOC, whose Director General Jameel Abu Al-Enin delivered a comprehensive briefing about the center’s tasks and missions in closely detecting and following up on crises and catastrophes, as well as all health events that might affect the health of individuals and could cause mass infections, whether at the level of contagious diseases, fires or human accidents.

The Minister and members of the Council also had a firsthand look at the performance of hospitals and regions, as well as reports related to novel epidemics, such as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and the center’s official and quick procedures between the Ministry of Health and other relevant public sectors.

HRH Crown Prince donates SR10 million to Ehsan, bringing total donations to SR1 billion

Riyadh, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense has made an additional donation of SR10 million to the National Platform for Charitable Work (Ehsan), as an extension of his previous donation to the platform last Ramadan, and out of his keenness to support and empower the Charitable work sector, and the platform, with His Highness’ donation, reached a total of SR1 billion in donations.

Reaching the SR1billion mark, Ehsan enters a new stage after reaching this record support, while continuing to achieve its goals in developing the charitable sector and contributing to meeting the needs of the beneficiaries of its services.

Ehsan platform is supervised by The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which has enabled it technically since its launch 5 months ago, initiating its launch with SR30 million donation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Crown Prince.

On this occasion, SDAIA president, Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, has expressed his appreciation for the Support of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SDAIA, for the various initiatives and programs launched by the platform, to harness artificial intelligence in launching and enabling solutions that are in the interest of the charitable sector. Dr. Al-Ghamdi also added that “the success that the Ehsan platform has achieved in record time is a result of HRH Crown Prince’s continuous empowerment of all areas that serve the needy, and this is what the platform is keen to continue achieving through its services based on studying the reality of the needs of the charitable sector, and reaching one billion riyals of donations is the biggest catalyst for the platform to continue its work, which contributed to ensuring speed, reliability, and transparency for donors.”

HR Highness’ gesture is an extension of the Crown Prince’s record of charitable and humanitarian donations, including his donations for the benefit of servicemen on the line of duty and their families, prisoners of financial claims, the insolvent, and those who are seeking marriage. His Highness also supported the housing sector and the various mosques development initiative, which contributed to strengthening social stability and securing the requirements of the neediest groups.

The donation of HRH Crown Prince to the neediest groups through the Ehsan platform reflects an interest in the values and advantages that the platform confers on charitable work by facilitating and accelerating the arrival of donations to those who deserve them, thus enhancing the Kingdom’s pioneering role in charitable work and its globally prestigious position in the charitable sector.

Ehsan platform is the first national platform to receive such amount of donations in record time, which marked an ambitious beginning towards maximizing the impact of the charitable work sector, through a stage that brought about a qualitative leap for the donation process and raised its efficiency, and in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which sets among its objectives raising the contribution of the non-profit sector to the gross domestic product, thus contribute to the prosperity of the charitable sector, and benefit the entire community.

Makkah Region Governor Decorates Winners of 3rd Edition of Crown Prince Camel Festival

Taif, On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah region attended today the closing ceremony of the third edition of Crown Prince Camel Festival and handed over the awards to the winners.

Organized by the Saudi Camel Federation, the races of the Crown Prince Camel Festival were held on Taif Camel Racing Track.

Bahrain Strongly Condemns Terrorist Houthi Militia’s Launch of Bomb-Laden Drones towards Khamis Mushait

Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain has strongly condemned the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia’s launching of bomb-laden drones towards the city of Khamis Mushait in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a systematic and continuous aggression against the security and safety of Saudi Arabia’s citizens and residents and in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and humanitarian values.

In a statement issued today, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Air Defense Forces that intercepted and destroyed the drones before reaching their targets.

The ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to confront whatever threatens its security and stability and to defend its sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the international community to condemn such terrorist attacks and take firm action to protect civilians.

HRH Crown Prince Receives Chairman of International Affairs Committee of Russian State Duma

NEOM, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense received at Neom palace here today the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Leonid Slutsky, currently on a visit to the Kingdom.

During the meeting, the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed.

It was attended by the Minister of State, Cabinet’s Member and National Security Advisor, Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban and Deputy Speaker of Shura Council, Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami.

Saudi Football Transformation Strategy Launched

Riyadh, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Minister of Sports has extended his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince for their unlimited support for the sports sector.

This came in a speech delivered here today by the Minister during the launch of “The Strategy for Transforming Saudi Football” by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).

He affirmed that the strategy aims to move Saudi football forward to higher levels through an action plan to be implemented by SAFF, simulating global models that contributed to the development of the game in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

KSrelief Continues Implementing Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Project in Hajjah, Sa’ada Governorates, Yemen

Hajjah-Sa’ada, Yemen, The Riyadh-based King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) continued implementing water supply and environmental sanitation project in Hajjah and Sa’ada Governorates, Yemen.

During the period from 19 to 25 August, 2021, as much as 480,000 liters of drinking water and 468,000 liters of non-drinking water were pumped, 331 personal hygiene bags distributed and four spraying campaigns carried out.

KSrelief conducted 55 shifts to remove wastes from camps of the displaced to disposal places in Hajjah governorate. In Sa’ada governorate, 100,000 liters of drinking water and 40,000 liters of non-drinking water were pumped, benefiting 28,742 individuals.
