RSNF Inaugurates His Majesty’s “Al-Diriyah” Combat Ship in Spain

San Fernando, Spain, July 26, 2022, SPA — The Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia inaugurated here today the ship of His Majesty’s “Al-Diriyah”, announcing its official entry into service in the RSNF.

The combat ship is the second for RSNF in four months after the inauguration of the first ship His Majesty’s “Jubail,” and one of five combat ships within the Sarawat project.

During the inauguration ceremony, which was held in San Fernando, Spain, in the presence of Saudi and Spanish officials, the Commander of the RSNF Lieutenant-General Fahd Al-Ghufaili, hoisted the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the ship of His Majesty’s “Al-Diriyah”.

Al-Ghufaili expressed his happiness at the inauguration of the ship within the Sarawat project, noting that the Sarawat project will contribute to raising the level of readiness of the RSNF, enhancing maritime security in the region, and protecting vital strategic interests of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the efforts to localize technically advanced military industries, noting the unlimited support enjoyed by the armed forces in general and the RSNF, in particular, from the wise leadership.

For his part, the CEO of the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), Eng. Walid bin Abdul Majeed Abu Khaled, said that the start of operation of the His Majesty’s “Diriyah” Ship is a milestone in the journey of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to create a more sustainable national defense system, indicating that the five ships of the RSNF within the Sarawat project will be equipped with the first Saudi naval combat management system, under the name “Hazm”. It will contribute to the localization of military industries by transferring technology, indicating that cooperation with the Spanish company Navantia and many other international OEMs provided an opportunity to develop distinguished Saudi cadres and pave the way for projects of the same scope.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Higher at 12,052.18 Points

Riyadh, July 26, 2022, SPA — Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading higher here today, gaining 87.97 points to close at 12,052.18 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 5.4 billion, while the toll of shares traded was over 138 million, divided into over 300,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Market Index (NOMU) ended the day gaining 32.09 points, to close at 20,823.27 points, with a valuation of SAR 20.9 million and an overall tally of more than 280,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 1,890 deals.

SAMA and CMA Support 12 Fintech Startups as part of Fintech Accelerator Program

Riyadh– Under the patronage of the Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), Dr. Fahad Almubarak and the Chairman of the Capital Market Authority (CMA), Mohammed Alkuwaiz, Fintech Saudi organized the closing ceremony of the second cohort of the Fintech Accelerator on Tuesday 26/07/2022.

The 12 fintech companies from the Fintech Accelerator Program presented their innovative solutions, culminating months of hard work, which contributed to develop their product strategies and business models, acquire expertise and knowledge by international and local experts.

Dr. Fahad Almubarak delivered the opening speech, while Mohammed Elkuwaiz welcomed the visitors and reaffirmed the support of SAMA and CMA for financial technology sector entrepreneurs.

On his side, SAMA’s governor stated that: “Start-up Fintech companies’ role extends beyond providing innovative financial services to include supporting the broader scope of economy. In cooperation with the CMA and our partners in the government and private sectors, SAMA seeks to develop the Fintech sector under the ambitious national strategy recently announced by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development and Innovation; and under the Financial Sector Development Program (FSDP)–one of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs. Such efforts are made to fulfill the Leadership’s aspirations for the Kingdom to become a world-class financial hub.”

The Acting Director of Fintech Saudi, Nezar Al Haidar, noted that because of the Saudi Central Bank and the Capital Market Authority’s unrestricted support, the Kingdom has emerged as a hub for innovation and growth in the fintech industry.

He stressed that the program succeeded in supporting entrepreneurs to progress the development of their innovative fintech solutions, faster than they would have been able to otherwise, stating that the second cohort, which consists of 12 fintech companies, is an expansion of the achievements of the first Fintech Accelerator Program (2021).

During the ceremony, Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Center (Wa’ed), a supporting partner of the Fintech Accelerator Program, offered the three winning fintech startups a financial grant of SAR 50,000 each, along with an opportunity to enroll in the business Incubation program presented by Wa’ed, to guide the companies as they look to raise venture investment while growing their businesses. It is worth mentioning that Wa’ed was founded to accelerate the growth of leading companies in the Kingdom by investing in high-growth sectors such as fintech, as a way to support the advancement of the local entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Eng. Fahad Alidi, the Managing Director at Wa’ed, said the partnership with “Fintech Saudi” is an extension of Wa’ed’s strategy to diversify its support for local and international startups in addition to funding their growth, stating the essential role played by regulators in promoting more private investments in the fintech industry.

The Fintech Accelerator Program Demo Day included an exhibition area for fintech companies that participated in the first and second cohort of the program. In the exhibition area, 21 fintech companies showcased their innovative products and solutions to investors, banks, potential partners, other key stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem, and members of the fintech community. The companies that took part displayed amazing growth and advancement in the development of cutting-edge fintech products that directly address social demands and provide solutions to pressing issues.

Fintech Saudi is an initiative that was started by the Saudi Central Bank in April 2018 in collaboration with the Capital Market Authority. Its goals are to transform the Kingdom into a hub for financial technology innovation, build a prosperous and responsible ecosystem, and support entrepreneurs by fostering the growth of the infrastructure necessary for the industry’s evolution.

Cairo– The works of the 50th session of the Permanent Arab Committee of the Human Rights started at the headquarters of the Arab League, in Cairo, today.

Bangladeshi Acting Chief of General Staff Receives Acting SG of IMCTC

Dhaka– The Acting Chief of the General Staff of Bangladesh, Lieutenant-General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, received here today, the Acting Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of cooperation, common visions and strengthening relations to achieve the desired goals in the war on terrorism, and a number of issues of common interest.

On the other hand, Al-Moghidi met with the Inspector General of the Bangladeshi Police, Dr. Benazir Ahmed, Director of the Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Office, Brigadier General Mohammad Seddiqi and Brigadier General Muhammad Khan from the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division. 241,187 Pilgrims Arrived in Madinah after Performing Hajj

Riyadh– The National Debt Management Center (NDMC) announced the closure of July 2022 issuance under the Saudi Arabian Government SAR-denominated Sukuk Program. The issuance size was set at SAR 2.930 billion (Two billion and nine hundred thirty million Saudi Riyals).

The Sukuk issuance was divided into two tranches as follows:

The first tranche has a size of SAR 480 million (Four hundred eighty million Saudi Riyals) maturing in (2030).

The second tranche has a size of SAR 2.450 billion (Two billion and four hundred fifty million Saudi Riyals) maturing in (2034).
