MODON Boosts Food Industries Sector with 1,300 Factories in 36 Industrial Cities


Riyadh: The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has said the number of food factories operating in its cities around the Kingdom increased to about 1,300, which helps boost the capacity of the food industry and helps achieve the “Food Industry Localization” initiative, which aims to increase productivity and local production, and improve quality.

The announcement came ahead of MODON’s participation as a strategic partner in the first edition of the Saudi Food Manufacturing Show, scheduled to be held between April 30 and May 2, 2024, at Riyadh Front under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef.

At the show, MODON will present its products and services to food industries, and logistical and financial solutions designed for investors in the industrial sector, small and medium enterprises, and entrepreneurs to help them achieve the targets of the national industry strategy, all within the framework of the initiatives entrusted to
MODON in the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program to achieve sustainable growth and maximize chain value, and to play a pivotal role in achieving food security and developing local content.

The show will bring together 500 participants from all over the world, including ministers and other officials, major local and international companies, CEOs, investors, and specialists. It will feature discussion panels, workshops, and other accompanying events.

It will constitute an important platform to showcase the most prominent services, products, and financial and logistical solutions for the food industries and supporting sectors such as hospitality, packaging, and raw materials for the food industries.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest and fastest-growing market in the food and beverage sectors in the Middle East.

Sustainable Development Minister and Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board meets with global financial institutions


Washington, Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, met with a number of international financial, banking and consulting institutions. Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), attended the meetings, held on the sidelines of the Minister and Governor’s participation in the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings held in Washington.

Bahrain Post participates in International EMS General Assembly Meeting


Bern, Bahrain Post attended the International Express Mail Service General Assembly meeting at the headquarters of the International Postal Union in Switzerland.

The delegation was led by Dr. Khalid Abdulrahman Al Haidan, Assistant Undersecretary for Post and Abdulla Hassan Al Asmi, Head of Postal Information and Rights.

During the meetings, decisions related to the postal sector were issued, and discussions were conducted on administrative and financial on the 2023 budget and 2024 action plan.

Technical decisions were also issued during the meeting on mutual operation of EMS and i-Care systems, the global customer service system, and improving information exchange for better coordination among member states.

The Universal Postal Union is the main forum for cooperation between postal operators worldwide, and it holds its annual meeting to address the technical, financial and operational aspects of postal sector topics.

Barghouti visits Nour Shams camp and offers condolences to the camp’s martyrs

3 young men were injured by occupation bullets during confrontations in Beit Ummar


Hebron – Ma’an – Tonight, three young men in their twenties were injured by live bullets in their feet. Their injuries were described as minor to moderate. They were taken to Al-Rida Medical Clinic to receive treatment, and their injuries were transferred to one of Hebron’s hospitals.

The media activist in the town of Beit Ummar, Muhammad Ayyad Awad, reported that the confrontations broke out after the occupation soldiers stormed the Al-Hara Al-Tahta area in the town, during which the occupation soldiers fired live and rubber bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas, which led to three young men being injured in their feet and dozens being injured. They were treated for suffocation in the field.

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Palestine Liberation Organization’s Refugee Affairs Department welcomed the findings and recommendations included in the final report of the Independent Review Group regarding UNRWA’s commitment to the humanitarian principle of neutrality, and praised the transparency shown by the head and members of the group during their work on verifying Israeli allegations against UNRWA.

He stressed the importance of taking action at the United Nations level to hold Israel accountable for its violations and crimes committed by directly targeting UNRWA schools, its health centers, and its relief and administrative headquarters, imposing operational restrictions on the work of its programs and targeting and employees, and obliging it to respect the facilities, mandate, and immunity of UNRWA in occupied Jerusalem, providing protection for it, and facilitating the movements of workers. Pointing out that the Israeli occupation government promoted its al
legations against UNRWA, which the review group’s report later confirmed as correct, to justify their targeting of UNRWA headquarters and shelters for displaced persons.

Abu Holi said that UNRWA constitutes the living embodiment of international responsibility towards Palestinian refugees until a political solution to their issue is found in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, especially Resolution 194, and its role cannot be dispensed with or terminated, and that the PLO will confront all attempts aimed at ending its role, and the time has come to secure sufficient and sustainable funding for UNRWA.

It is noteworthy that the Secretary-General of the United Nations received the final report yesterday from the Independent Review Group on UNRWA, and the report concluded that UNRWA has put in place a large number of mechanisms and procedures to ensure its commitment to humanitarian principles and neutrality, in addition to that it has a more developed approach to neutrality tha
n United Nations entities. Or other similar NGOs, they operate in a complex, sensitive, thorny and complicated environment.

The 48-page report, which included 50 recommendations, stated that UNRWA cannot be replaced or dispensed with for the human and economic development of the Palestinians, and that many see it as a humanitarian lifeline, revealing that Israel failed to provide evidence to support its accusations against this UN body.

In its final report, the Independent Review Group identified measures to help UNRWA deal with the challenges facing its neutrality, in important areas that require immediate improvements: engagement with donors, governance, internal management and oversight structures, staff neutrality and behaviour, facilities neutrality, education, and Staff unions, and strengthening partnership with United Nations agencies.

Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights Begins 61st Session


Cairo: The 61st Session of the Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights began here today, bringing together representatives of the joint Arab Action System for Human Rights, human rights mechanisms, OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), the Human Rights Office of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI).

The current session includes holding the 23rd session specified to discuss the second periodic report submitted by the Kingdom of Bahrain on April 23 and 24 and the 24th session to discuss the first report submitted by the Arab Republic of Egypt on April 28 and 29. This comes within the framework of following up on the Arab states’ commitments to their obligations as a result of joining the Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights and assessing the extent of states’ commitment to implement the terms of the Charter.

At the opening of the 61st session, Chairman of the Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights Counselor Jaber Al-Marri emp
hasized the importance of assessing the progress made in the field of human rights and expressed hope that the current session would yield positive results that contribute to achieving further progress in the Arab states’ human rights record.

Al-Marri also raised concerns about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip. He called upon all Arab states to exert pressure on the international community to lift the siege on Gaza, allow the entry of humanitarian aid, and work toward improving the living conditions of the people residing there.

Bapco Refining: Floating roof of damaged tank successfully lowered, tank gradually emptied safely into another tank

“Bapco Refining would like to report that the damaged floating roof of one of the oil tanks in the Sitra Tank Farm has been lowered successfully and safely to its location at the bottom of the Tank today, Tuesday 23 April 2024, as this is the most important step in the process of repairing the defect that occurred. The remaining Naphtha product in the Tank has been significantly reduced as the Tank is being safely and gradually emptied to another Tank.

The joint Emergency teams, with exceptional support from the Ministry of Interior, Civil Defense, and the Supreme Council for Environment, has taken all necessary safety and security measures in this regard. A number of specialists have also been appointed to carry out the tasks of stabilizing the damaged floating roof of the Tank, and ensuring its safe stability at the bottom of the Tank.

unity is always a top priority.”
