Turkey, Iran and Kuwait offer their condolences to Iraq for the victims of the Hamdaniyah fire

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered condolences to the victims of the fire that broke out in the wedding hall in Al-Hamdaniya district in Nineveh Governorate.

The Ministry said in a statement that it received “with great sadness” the news of the death of more than 100 people and the injury of about 500 others as a result of the fire.

The Ministry extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives due to this tragic incident, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani also offered condolences to the Iraqi government and people for the death of a number of Iraqi citizens in the Hamdaniyah fire in Nineveh Governorate.

In a statement, Kanaani stressed Iran’s readiness to provide aid and medical capabilities to treat the wounded.

For his part, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sent two cables of condolence to the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal, and the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.

Al-Sudani directs a number of urgent measures to be taken in the wake of the Hamdaniyah fire

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed all Ministries, governorates and state institutions to take a set of urgent measures, following the unfortunate fire incident in one of the wedding halls in Al-Hamdaniya district (Baghdida) in Nineveh Governorate.

Al-Sudani directed, according to a statement by his office, the following:

1- The Ministers of Interior and Health were present on the ground at the scene of the accident, in order to provide immediate relief to the injured, supervise rescue operations, and provide assistance.

2- The competent health authorities undertake to treat the wounded and injured and provide the utmost care, according to the requirements of the cases for treatment inside or outside Iraq.

3- Forming an investigative committee that will immediately begin investigating and uncovering the circumstances of the accident, to determine the causes and uncover areas of negligence.

4- Preparing an accurate list of the victims of the accident and their families to ensure their legal rights and compensate them financially.

5- Declaring general mourning in all state institutions, for a period of three days, to offer condolences to the victims and offer condolences to their families and loved ones.

6- All Ministries and governorates will continue to conduct inspections of buildings and verify safety procedures, and the relevant authorities will be held responsible for any defect.

7- The Civil Defense Directorate, with all its branches in the governorates, will continue to confirm the previous procedures for field inspections and structural safety, and redouble the efforts of periodic inspection of large buildings, malls, restaurants, event halls and hotels, and ensure the availability of safety procedures in them, identify potential risks and direct them to address them, and diagnose violating buildings.

HM King congratulated by SCIA President

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today received a cable of congratulations from Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) President, on the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)’s birthday.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed said that the occasion provides an opportunity to renew commitment to the noble values and lofty principles consolidated by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

The SCIA wished HM the King, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab and Islamic nations many happy returns.

Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, has extended sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed’s birthday.

He wished HM the King abundant health and long life so as to continue leading the kingdom’s comprehensive development process.

The Shura Council Chairman also extended deepest congratulations to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the same occasion.

HM King receives condolences from Cabinet Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has received a cable of condolences from His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Cabinet Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary, following the loss and injury of several servicemen of the taskforce of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), stationed along the southern borders of Saudi Arabia, within the Arab Coalition’s Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope.

The undersecretary prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the souls of the victims in eternal peace, and to bless their relatives with patience and fortitude. He also wished the wounded a speedy recovery

The Minister of Foreign Affairs receives copies of the credentials of seven new Ambassadors

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, received today, Tuesday, copies of the credentials of seven new Ambassadors to Iraq.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “The Minister of Foreign Affairs received today, Tuesday, in the Ministry building, copies of the credentials of seven new Ambassadors to Iraq, namely the Ambassador of Finland, Anu Saarila, the Ambassador of the European Union mission, Thomas Seiler, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar, Sultan Mubarak Al-Kubaisi, and the Ambassador of Canada, Kathy Bonka, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia, Shukri Latif, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christiane Hohmann, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Ahmed Mahmoud Al-Ruwaidi.”

The Minister stressed, while receiving the Ambassadors separately, that “Iraq looks forward to supporting the international community and establishing balanced relations based on common interests, enhancing political, economic and commercial cooperation, and overcoming differences through dialogue.”

He added: There are common global and regional challenges that require joint cooperation and coordination, most notably combating terrorism and cross-border extremism, addressing economic fluctuations and health crises, and confronting severe climate changes.

He expressed his wishes to the new Ambassadors for success in performing their new duties, and in a way that strengthens relations of friendship and cooperation between Iraq and their countries.

For their part, the Ambassadors expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressing their countries’ aspiration to strengthen relations with Iraq in various fields, in a way that strengthens common ties.

HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister receives a cable of condolences from the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and President of SCE

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, today received a cable of condolences from the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for the two fallen servicemen from the Bahrain Defence Force, who were honourably and loyally participating in Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope, as part of the Arab Coalition Forces, at the southern border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

HH Shaikh Abdulla noted the sacrifices of the fallen servicemen, who will always be remembered and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Arab League Secretary-General mourns Bahraini fallen servicemen in Houthi attack

Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, mourned the two Bahraini soldiers who were victims of the Houthi attack in Yemen, and participating in the Saudi-led Arab Coalition.

The Secretary General wished a speedy recovery for the injured, praying to Allah Almighty to rest the souls of the fallen servicemen in eternal peace, give their families patience and solace and for the injured a speedy recovery.

A statement from the Arab League said on Tuesday that Aboul Gheit condemned the continuation of the treacherous Houthi attacks despite the legitimate government’s commitment to the truce and ceasefire, holding the Houthi responsible for the continued suffering of Yemenis, which persists in rejecting all calls for peace and insists on continuing the approach of violence and sabotage.
