Sudanese Foreign Minister Meets with IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan

Khartoum– Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Al-Sadiq Ali met here today, with IGAD’s Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ismail Weiss.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed IGAD’s efforts to support the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan and a number of issues of common interest as well.

Royal Commission for AlUla Announces Birth of Two Female Arabian Tigers

Madinah– Royal Commission for AlUla has announced the birth of two female Arabian tigers, a step that stresses the endeavors of the commission towards achieving the targets of rehabilitating ecosystems and protecting Arabian tigers from extinct.

The two tigers were born at the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Center for Wildlife Research, which is one of the reproduction programs that seek to increase the number of Arabian tigers and reinstate them in the wildlife.

The Arabian tiger is one of the most endangered species in the world, where the number of Arabia tigers does not exceed 200 as the result of losing their natural habitat and their overhunting throughout the past years.

The strategy of the Royal Commission for AlUla to protect the Arabian tigers includes a diversified set of initiatives, including the expansion of reproduction programs through inaugurating the Arabian tiger center at Sharan Nature Reserve in addition to establishing the Arabian tiger fund that received an allocation of USD25 million from the commission.

The commission has also signed several partnerships, including one with International Union for Conservation of Nature, a second with Panthera organization and t a third with Catmosphere.

The royal commission, through its strategy, seeks to protect the Arabian tiger from extinction with the aim of restring the ecosystems to realize the targets of the Saudi Vision 2030, in addition to rehabilitating the natural environment in a way that accords with national goals, including the Saudi Green Initiative, to make 80% of AlUla as nature reserves.

The Royal Commission for AlUla is moving ahead to realize its strategy of the Arabian tiger, which includes several social aspects, such as training some AlUla residents on tasks of maintaining nature reserves.

AlUla is considered a natural habitat of the Arabian tiger throughout history, where rock carvings in various locations reflect that and can be seen in pillars of the commission’s strategy to care for the environment, nature, heritage and antiquities, which makes AlUla the biggest living museum in the world.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields as well as a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

FM’s Makkah Branch Director Receives Indonesia Consul General in Jeddah

Jeddah– The Director General of Makkah branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mazen bin Hamad Al-Hamali received in his office in the ministry’s Jeddah branch in Jeddah today the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah Eko Hartoro.

During the meeting, cordial talks were exchanged and a number of issues of mutual concern discussed.

Algeria to Host 4th Edition of Arab Junior Championships 2022

Riyadh– The Algerian Republic will host the fourth edition of the Arab Junior Championships during the period from 23 August to 8 September, 2022.

The championships will be held with participation of the national teams of the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Comoros, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania and Yemen.

HRH Crown Prince Receives Telephone Call from Prime Minister of Pakistan

Jeddah– His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, received a telephone call today from the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

During the telephone conversation, fraternal and historical ties binding the Kingdom and Pakistan were reviewed and cooperation opportunities between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields discussed.

Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States to Organize Consultative Meeting of Coordinators of Member States

Riyadh– The Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) will organize tomorrow a consultative meeting of the national coordinators of ABEGS’s member states for the national consultations in preparation for the Transforming Education Summit 2022.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of the UNESCO, UNICEF, the United Nations, the World Bank, and organizations operating in the GCC states and Yemen.

Director General of the ABEGS Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Asmi said that this meeting comes after the ABEGS member states completed extensive national consultations with the aim of developing a common vision and harmonizing work efforts to bring transformation in education.

Mixed Performance of US Stock Market Indices at Closing

New York, The US stock market indices recorded mixed performance tonight at the close of the trading session on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index closed down 2.97 points, or 0.07%, to close at 4207.27 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index decreased by 74.90 points, to 0.58%, to close at 12779.91 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 27.16 points, or 0.08%, to close at 33,336.67 points.

UAE President, British Prime Minister Discuss Issues of Common Interest

Abu Dhabi, President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson discussed, during a phone call today, bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and push them forward in various fields.

During the call, they also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis’ international repercussions, especially regarding the energy and food security, stressing the importance of working together to strengthen the foundations of peace and stability at the regional and global levels.

SDRPY Inaugurates Water Transmission Line Project in Ghaydah, Yemen

Al-Ghaydah, The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) inaugurated here today the water transmission line project in the city of Al-Ghaydah, Yemen. The project consists of 20 km long water carrier lines from Wadi Fauri to Wadi Al Jiza, with a concrete ground tank with a capacity of 1,800 cubic meters.

The SDRPY equipped and rehabilitated three wells, a centrifugal pumps room, an electric generator room, remote control systems, in Wadi Fauri, to connect water transmission lines to tower and ground tanks in Wadi Al Jiza.

The project comes to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, and to enhance water sources, which contributes to the provision of drinking water, and the reduction of diseases resulting from water pollution, benefiting 66,000 individuals.

The Director of the SDRPY office in Al-Mahra, Abdullah Basulaiman, explained that this project is a continuation of the SDRPY’s plan, which aims to support vital sectors in Yemen, raise their efficiency and enhance their capabilities, including the water sector, which the program supports through various projects.

For his part, the Governor of Al-Mahra Governorate, Mohammad Ali Yasser, stressed the importance of this vital project, which will be used to enhance water in all areas of Al-Ghaydah District, which contributes to improving water service and regularly delivering it to citizens’ houses, praising the efforts of the SDRPY to support service sectors and improve the level of services.

SG of OIC Meets Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports

Jeddah, The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye Mehmet Kasapoglu received yesterday the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha and his accompanying delegation in Konya, on the sidelines of the activities of the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games hosted by the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation between the OIC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye.

Taha valued the efforts exerted by Türkiye for the success of the fifth edition of the Games under the patronage of the Turkish President, indicating that this is evidence of the importance of sports and youth issues in Türkiye, appreciating Türkiye’s continued support of the General Secretariat in the field of joint Islamic action, especially in the field of youth and sports.

For his part, the Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports expressed Türkiye’s thanks to the Secretary-General for attending the opening ceremony of the games, reiterating his country’s readiness to support the General Secretariat, in order to build youth capacities and develop sports in the Islamic world.
