Mayor of Riyadh Region Attends Reception Party of Italian Embassy on National Day

Riyadh– On behalf of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh region attended here today the reception party held by the Italian Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Italy.

Upon his arrival at the venue, Mayor of Riyadh region was received by the Italian Ambassador to the Kingdom Roberto Cantone.

The event was attended by a number of diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

10th Meeting of GCC Supreme Military Committee Convenes in Riyadh

Riyadh– The 10th consultative meeting of the GCC Supreme Military Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces was held today in Riyadh, with the participation of the Commander of the GCC Unified Military Command Lieutenant-General Eid bin Awad Al-Shalawi, and Assistant Secretary for Military Affairs of the GCC Major General Ahmed Ali Hamid Al Ali.

During the meeting, the participants discussed several issues of common interest in promoting and strengthening the common military concerns and aspirations among the armed forces in the GCC states.

Meeting of the Committee of Heads of Red Crescent Societies and Bodies in GCC Concludes in Riyadh

Riyadh– The meeting of the Committee of Heads of Red Crescent Societies and bodies in GCC concluded its 18th meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Committee’s General Secretariat in Riyadh today, in the presence of the GCC Red Crescent heads and senior officials.

The committee issued a set of decisions including approving the Saudi Red Crescent Authority’s bid to organize the third Gulf Forum for Voluntary Work for the Red Crescent bodies and societies in the GCC countries in December 2022, for two days in Saudi Arabia under the theme “Volunteering is life”.

The committee’s decision also reiterated the need to strengthen the existing strategic partnerships with brotherly and friendly countries, including Jordan, Morocco, Iraq, and Sudan, in addition to opening prospects for cooperation in the humanitarian field with other countries, especially in times of crises and disasters.

OIC Special Envoy Meets with ECOWAS Mediator

Jeddah– The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Africa, Nassirou Bako Arrifari, met yesterday with the former President of Nigeria and ECOWAS mediator in the financial crisis Goodluck Jonathan.

During the meeting, the Special Envoy delivered a message from the Secretary-General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, to the mediator of the Economic Community of West African States.

They also discussed the latest developments in ECOWAS countries as well as a number of issues of common interest.

Jordanian Prime Minister Meets with Minister of Hajj and Umrah

Amman– Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al Khasawneh received here today Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabeeah.

The Jordanian Prime Minister stressed the depth of the deep-rooted relations that unite the two countries under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Jordanian King Abdullah II, praising the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the measures it is taking to organize the Hajj season this year, and to receive pilgrims from different countries.

Dr. Al Khasawneh drew attention to the high level of joint coordination between the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments and the Saudi Hajj and Umrah to facilitate procedures for grouping Jordanian pilgrims.

In turn, Dr. Al-Rabeeah stressed the importance of the strong relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Jordan, praising the level of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in various fields. He also praised the efforts made by the Jordanian Hajj mission to upgrade the level of care and services provided to Jordanian pilgrims.

Russian Foreign Minister Arrives in Riyadh for Official Visit

Riyadh– The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, and the accompanying delegation, arrived in here today, for an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, he was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Protocol Affairs Ambassador Khaled Al-Sahli, and the Saudi Ambassador to the Russian Federation Abdulrahman bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmad.

KSrelief Supervisor General, US Chargé d’Affaires in Saudi Arabia Discuss Humanitarian Situation in Yemen

Riyadh– Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah in Riyadh today met with US Chargé d’Affaires in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Martina Strong.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen, went over means necessary to face the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and reduce its health risks on needy countries.

For her part, Strong praised the great humanitarian works that are implemented by KSrelief, referring to the fruitful partnership between the center and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

President of Gambia Receives Special Envoy of OIC Secretary General for Africa

Jeddah– President of the Republic of The Gambia Adama Barrow received the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Africa Nassirou Bako Arrifari, on May 29, 2022.

The Special Envoy conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, to the Gambian President on the occasion of his re-election, praising the efforts exerted by his government to achieve development, peace and stability in the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the multiple challenges facing the West African region, including those related to the political transition in the Republic of Mali, Burkina Faso and the Republic of Guinea, as well as stressing the importance of concerted efforts, cooperation and encouragement of dialogue in order to find acceptable solutions to these issues.

Governor of Taif Meets U.S. Chargé d’affaires

UNHCR Delegation Visits KSrelief Clinics in Zaatari Refugee Camp, Jordan

Amman– A delegation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) visited the medical clinics of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action (KSrelief) in the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan, and reviewed the newly added occupational therapy department.

UNHCR visiting delegation praised the high-quality health services being provided by the KSrelief clinics to the Syrian refugees residing in the camp, which contributed to improving their living conditions and providing all the necessary medical care to the sick and injured of them.

Director General of Civil Defense heads Saudi Arabia’s delegation to 7th Global Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction in Indonesia

Bali, Indonesia– Director General of Civil Defense, Lieutenant General Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Amro, has headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation participating in the Seventh Global Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction, titled “Transitioning from Risks to Resilience”, which kicked off in Indonesia.

Lieutenant General Al-Amro pointed out that the Kingdom participates with the international community in its efforts to protect societies and the environment, and that disasters are one of the biggest challenges facing development in countries of the world, noting its contributions to reducing disaster risks at the national, regional and international levels, as it took the initiative to adopt the objectives of the Sendai Framework, established National Risks Council, and prepared a national strategy to reduce disaster risks to achieve the goals and initiatives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its sustainable development goals.

The forum discussed diversity in disaster risk reduction leadership, improving understanding and managing systemic risks, unveiling the global assessment report, inclusive and resilient recovery in urban contexts, data challenges and solutions for disaster risk management, and the general meeting for the mid-term review of the Sendai Framework.

Saudi students win 13 international awards at International Exhibition of Inventions, Innovations and Technology (ITEX 2022) in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur– Saudi students participating in International Exhibition of Inventions, Innovations and Technology “ITEX 2022” in Malaysia have won 13 international awards in a number of scientific fields.

At the exhibition, Saudi male and female students have won 6 major golden prizes in various scientific fields, including the field of automation and operations with the participation of Wissam Jaber Al-Maliki and Ismail Ibrahim Safrata; in the field of materials with the participation of Faisal Fahd Al-Mahish, in the field of information and communication technology and multimedia with the participation of Jana Ghassan Zakai, in the field of biotechnology and health with the participation of Amira Ali Al-Ajlan, and in the field of environment with the participation of Jana Suleiman Al-Rifi.

Saudi Male and female students also achieved two silver prizes in the field of environment with the participation of Maimouna Faeq Fatani, and in the field of materials with the participation of Mashari Abdullah Al-Dosari. Meanwhile Jana Ghassan Zakai, Amira Ali Al-Ajlan and Faisal Fahd Al-Mahish received special prizes from IETEX as the best innovation, and Maimouna Faeq Fatani and Jana Suleiman Al-Rifi received two honorary awards from the Gulf Patent Council.

ITEX 2022 is an international platform for attracting inventions and innovations in various fields, such as science and technology, aims at attracting interested innovators, inventors, investors and manufacturers in countries of the world to explore new inventions and innovations in different fields.
