Syrian Arab Republic delegation holds meeting with Iranian delegation in framework of 16th Astana format on Syria

Nur Sultan, Syrian Arab Republic delegation, headed by Dr. Ayman Susan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday held a meeting with Iranian delegation headed by Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji in the framework of the 16th international meeting in Astana format on Syria in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan.

The two sides exchanged views on the meetings they held during the current round of Astana talks, in addition to the items on the agenda, including situation in Syria and political process as there was consensus on most of the issues.

They also affirmed their determination to continue to work together and coordinate directly in order to ensure reaching the results which serve interests of Syrian people and preservation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity away from any external interference.

Earlier, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic met the Russian delegation headed by Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev and UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen as talks during the two meetings reviewed the items on the agenda of the current meeting and the development of the situation in Syria.

Deputy Defense Minister Meets with US National Security Advisor in Washington

Riyadh, Prince Khaled bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense met, in Washington, D.C., today with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, as part of his official visit to the United States of America.

The meeting focused on reviewing international efforts and joint coordination between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America within the framework of the common vision to confront the extremism, violence and terrorism, as well as the related risks that threaten the security, capabilities, stability and coexistence of peoples.

During the meeting, they discussed the cooperation relations, coordination and joint work between the two countries in various aspects, as well as a number of issues and files of common interest.

The meeting was attended by Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Ambassador to the United States of America, Military Advisor to the Minister of Defense Major General Eng. Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and Director General of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.

Saudi Arabia to Take Part in Top-level Political Forum’s Meetings

Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to take part in the top-level political forum’s meetings, scheduled to be held virtually on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia’s participation falls in line with its efforts exerted to continue realizing the agenda of the sustainable development objectives.

Such form is focusing on following up and speeding up the progress attained, in terms of the plans envisioned by 2030.

However, the forum will take place under the motto: Sustainable, Resilient Recovery from coronavirus Pandemic.

Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim will lead the Saudi delegation to the Top-level Political Forum 2021 which will last for nine days. The delegation also includes a number of governmental bodies, private sector, non-profit sector and think tanks. The delegation will also represent the presidency of the Arab Sustainable Development Forum, in the gathering.

Al-Jouf Region Governor Receives Ambassador of Vietnam

Sakaka, Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Jouf Region, received here today the Ambassador of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Vu Viet Dung? and his accompanying delegation.

During the reception, they discussed issues of mutual interest.

The Ambassador commended the ongoing development of Al-Jouf region in various fields.

President al-Assad receives Khaji, talks deal with strategic relations between Syria and Iran

Damascus, President Bashar al-Assad on Monday received Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji and the accompanying delegation.

 

Talks during the meeting dealt with the strategic relations between Syria and Iran and the important role played by the joint committees to enhance the bilateral cooperation in all domains, particularly in the economic one in the interest of the two countries and peoples.

 

Talks also dealt with the situation in the region and several issues of political concern, particularly the agenda of Astana meetings, with both sides stressing the necessity of  continuing  the political efforts being exerted in this track to achieve positive results in the interest of Syria and its people as well as the importance for the Committee of Discussing the Constitution to continue its work without any external intervention.

 

President al-Assad congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran,  as leadership and people, on  the success of the presidential elections, considering that this success deals a new blow to all forces that are trying to target security and safety of Iran.

 

Khaji, for his part, affirmed that the wide popular participation in the presidential election in Syria is a clear message of the strong will of its people, reiterating his country’s keenness on playing an active role in the reconstruction process in Syria and contributing to supporting its economy in different sectors in a way that eases the burdens of the unjust Western blockade on the Syrian people.

 

In this regard, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad received Khagi and discussed with him means of enhancing bilateral relations and developing their prospects and continuing cooperation to overcome  the impacts of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian and Iranian peoples.

 

Khagi hailed that the success of presidential election in Syria, appreciating the wide popular participation in this process.

 

The two sides also discussed preparations regarding Astana upcoming meeting, pointing out to some topics related to of the Committee of Discussing the constitution.

 

The two sides affirmed the need of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that  the committee should work by the ownership and leadership of Syria without any intervention, under any pretext.

Syria refuses politicization of revealing the coronavirus source as this issue won’t serve facts

Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed the necessity of the categorical rejection of politicizing the issue of revealing the source of Corona virus, particularly as this politicization does not serve knowing facts or does not help combat the epidemic in a collective and cooperative way.

“The Syrian government supports the World Health Organization /WHO /to carry out the relevant decisions and outcomes of the World Health Conference, boosting international unity in a way that pushes forwards international cooperation to reveal the source of COVID-19 and confront its challenges,” The Ministry said in an official statement.

The statement added that “based on that stance, the Syrian side highly appreciates the Chinese government’s cooperation in studying the virus source with WHO before others, and the positive results achieved in this process.”

It went on to say the that the Syrian side noticed with concern that the US and some other countries have taken a series of provocative steps aimed politicizing the issue of uncovering the source of the virus and publicly denied reproducing the joint study prepared by China and WHO and challenged the authority of specialized international scientists.

Foreign Ministry: Syria reaffirms that its right in occupied Golan is firm, supported by international legitimacy resolutions

Damascus, Syria condemned in the strongest terms the recent US and Israeli statements on the occupied Syrian Golan, stressing that its right in the Golan is firm and supported by international legitimacy resolutions, and it is inevitably returned to the motherland.

An official source at Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement that the Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the recent US and Israeli statements in regard to the occupied Syrian Golan, these statements which affirm that the US policy towards the Arab Nation and its issues come through the Israeli perspective in service of the policy of aggression, expansion and hegemony.

The source added that the Syrian Arab Republic reaffirms once again that its right in the occupied Golan is firm and supported by international legitimacy resolutions, and it is an imprescriptible right and all US and Israeli stances regarding this right is null and has no legal impact.

“The Syrian Arab Republic reiterates that the occupied Golan is inevitably returned to homeland with all means guaranteed by the international law, and the day when the Syrian Arab flag is hoisted on the whole Golan will inevitably come.”

French Ambassador Visits Saudi Center of Public Opinion Poll

Riyadh, French Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ludovic Pouille paid a visit today to the Saudi Center of Public Opinion Poll.

Upon arrival at the venue, he was received by Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors Dr. Abdullah Al-Hogail.

The French Ambassador was briefed on the scientific procedures being carried out by the Center in collecting its data, as well as the methodology for its refinement and analysis, praising the Center’s work and results.

Kazakh Foreign Ministry: Astana next round of talks on Syria set on July 6th

Nur-Sultan, The Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that the date for the next round of Astana talks on Syria will be held in the capital of Nur-Sultan on July 7-8th.

Sputnik quoted a statement by the ministry published on its website as saying that” on July 7th and 8th, the 16th round on Syria will be held in Astana format in the city of Nur-Sultan”.

The statement added that delegations from the guarantor states, Iran, Russia and Turkey, in addition to the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic and the opposition one will also participate in addition to representatives from the UN, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq as observers.

Syria , Indonesia to enhance parliamentary ties

Jakarta, The Acting Chargé d’Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in Jakarta, Abdul Moneim Annan, discussed with Fadli Zon, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation and member of the Defense, Foreign Relations and Media Committee at the Indonesian House of Representatives, means of enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Fadli Zon expressed the Indonesian people’s appreciation for the stances of Syria and its leadership, represented by President Bashar al-Assad, in the face of the aggressive policies of the Israeli entity and its crimes in the region, noting to the close parliamentary relations between the two countries, which were manifested in many different international parliamentary forums.

He pointed out the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between parliamentarians in the two countries, including activating the Syrian-Indonesian Parliamentary Friendship Committee and exchanging experiences in parliamentary work and in the cultural, economic and development fields.

In turn, Annan briefed the Indonesian official on the situation in Syria and attempts that targeted it by terrorists and their supporters in favor of the Israeli occupation entity and its projects in the region.

Dr. Al-Issa Meets with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Peninsula Affairs

Riyadh, Secretary General of Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa has met here with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Peninsula Affairs Daniel Benaim, in the presence of U.S. Charge d’Affaires to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Martina Strong.

During the meeting, they reviewed issues of common interest and prospects for cooperation between the two sides.
