Chaldean bishops in Iraq congratulate Muslims on the month of Ramadan..and call for prayers for peace

The Chaldean bishops in Iraq congratulated Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, stressing the importance of preserving the diverse national fabric.

A statement said, after the meeting of the Chaldean bishops in Iraq, headed by Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, at the Patriarchal Synod in Ankawa: “With great concern, we draw the attention of believers to the reality of our world today that is burdened with events and natural disasters: the Russian-Ukrainian war, the chronic Palestinian issue, and the permanent tensions in the region that it works to destabilize global and regional political, security, and economic stability, as well as what it left behind in terms of deaths, injuries, millions of immigrants, and destruction in buildings and infrastructure. We also recall the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.

The statement added: “Accordingly, we, the bishops, call on everyone to pray for an end to these conflicts that have wreaked havoc on the earth. Let us pray for the lost peace in the world and for a clean environment.”
