Education Ministry Organizes Symposium on Roles of Student Parent Councils

Tasks of a symposium on the roles of student parents’ councils kicked off at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre today under the theme of Social Partnership in Promoting Education.

As many as 580 participants took part in the sessions of the six sessions of the symposium, which was organized by the Ministry of Education.

The opening of the two-day symposium was held under the auspices of Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information.

The symposium presents 10 working papers that explore the experiences of leading models of parent councils, in the local front and the global arena. The sessions also include dialogue sessions with the departments concerned.

The parent councils’ symposium, titled “Community Partnership and Pioneering Roles in Education”, seeks to enable parent councils to consider the best practices in activating their status as channels of communication between schools and society.

The symposium also studies means of enhancing integration between school communities and different establishments of local communities.

The symposium looks into ways of building positive attitudes in terms of collaboration and social partnership within the context of education. This calls for establishing direct communication and partnerships among student parent councils in Oman.

On the sidelines of the symposium, the ministry felicitated two Omani students for winning first place, at Arab world level, in the “Competition of classical Arabic speaking, rhetoric, poetry recitation and intensive grammar study”. The competition was held in the Arab Republic of Egypt from 25 to 30 April 2023.
