Brussels, August 3, 2022, SPA – The European Union (EU) has welcomed a decision to extend the truce in Yemen for two more months.
Lead spokesperson for the external affairs of the EU Peter Stano, in a statement, noted that the truce, which was brokered by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, has tangible benefits for the Yemeni people, highlighting the importance of opening border crossings in Taiz and other governorates, which constitutes a priority.
The EU noted that it will continue working with all Yemeni parties, with full support of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, to reach a political settlement to the crisis in Yemen.
