Housing Ministry Unveils 2024 Executive Plan


The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said that its ‘Amlak’ platform cleared more than 133,000 transactions, while its ‘Tatweer’ platform maintained a good level of services to more than 1,500 users

This was unveiled during a media gathering held today at the Royal Opera House to review achievements made in 2023 and the executive plan for 2024.

The Ministry said that the Social Housing Programme provided assistance to 1,382 families during 2023, and that the total value of real estate trading in the Sultanate of Oman grew by 6 percent to RO 2.6 billion.

In the meantime, the Ministry distributed more than 25,000 lands in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman through ‘Choose Your Land’ programme.

Through its ‘Government land usufruct programme’, a total of 781 usufruct contracts were signed in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, with fees estimated at RO 782,000.

The Ministry pointed out that 7 projects were implemented within the ‘Sorouh’ programme, namely ‘Al Naseem Neighborhood’
in the Wilayat of Barka (1,100 housing units), ‘Al Lubban Neighborhood’ in Halban (1,300 housing units), Al Ahed Neighborhood in the Wilayat of Al Amerat (more than 1,000 housing units), in the Wilayat of Sohar (more than 680 housing units), in the Wilayat of Bidbid (630 housing units) and in the Wilayat of Salalah (more than 550 housing units). Four more sites were made available for investment in the Wilayats of Ibra, Samail, Sur, and Buraimi.

Dr. Khalfan Said Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, said during the media gathering that the Ministry was embarked on the design phase of the ‘Downtown Al Khuwair’ project, which, he explained, is likely to take 12 months. The project includes the establishment of a waterfront and other facilities.

The minister pointed out that 9 real estate developers have been announced for Sultan Haitham City and that the residential units will be offered with effect from March 2024.

He added that the layout plan for Greater Nizwa City is located in the centre o
f the Wilayat, close to Nizwa Fort and the marketplace. The project is still being discussed with relevant parties in the wilayat.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Mutawa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Urban Planning, said that the urban planning includes implementing the layout for Greater Muscat City and preparing the layout for 14 cities, including Greater Sohar, Greater Salalah, and Greater Nizwa.

He added that an initiative codenamed ‘urban renovation’ will be implemented in the governorates of Muscat, Dhofar, Al Buraimi, Musandam and South Al Batinah.

Meanwhile, Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Housing Undersecretary, announced the start of works on the resort project of Jabal Shams in the Wilayat of Al Hamra). The tasks include construction of housing units in villages in the wilayats of Sur, Jalan Bani Bu Hassan and Jalan Bani Bu Ali.
