New Delhi: India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Railways, and Communications aims to elevate the country into the top five global semiconductor producers within the next five years.
With Taiwan leading in semiconductor foundry capacity, followed by China, South Korea, the U.S., and Japan, India views this as an opportunity to reduce dependency on other nations.
India remains confident in its capacity to leverage the projected trillion-dollar growth of the semiconductor sector within seven years, citing a skilled talent pool and a focus on manufacturing.
The Indian government is currently assessing semiconductor proposals worth $21 billion, indicating India’s emergence as a significant destination for semiconductor manufacturing investments.
