Integrity Commission apprehends an official in the Electricity Directorate in Kirkuk in the act of bribery

Baghdad, The Federal Integrity Commission caught an official in Kirkuk Electricity Directorate in the act of committing a bribery crime in return for performing one of his job duties.

It stated in a statement: The investigation department of the Commission seized, according to a judicial warrant, the director of electricity in (Yaji) district for blackmailing citizens and forcing them to pay sums of money in return for delivering the electric current to their farms, and cutting it off from them in the event of non-payment.

It added: The work team moved to (Yaji) district, and set up a tight ambush for the accused, and after stationing, monitoring and making sure that he had received the bribe, he was caught red-handed.

It explained: The preliminary investigations conducted by the team indicated that the accused confessed to receiving the bribe, and that he blackmailed citizens and took sums of money from them. It was in return for completing one of the tasks entrusted to him.

It noted the organization of a fundamental report, and its presentation, along with the accused, and the seized amount, to the investigative judge specialized in hearing cases of integrity in Kirkuk; who decided to detain him pending investigation; in accordance with the provisions of Article (307) of the Iraqi Penal Code.
