Jordan welcomes renewal of Yemen’s truce

Amman– Jordan on Wednesday welcomed an agreement between Yemeni parties to extend a four-month-old truce for two more months, and reaffirmed its support for all efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in this Arab country, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.

Haitham Abu Al-Foul, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, said in a statement that Jordan supports efforts to end the Yemeni crisis through a political solution based on the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216.

The spokesman emphasized that any solution must bring security and stability to Yemen, ensure its unity and territorial integrity, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, and fulfill their aspirations for peace and security.

Abu Al-Foul added that the Kingdom recognizes the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen and reaffirms its continued support for the Amman-based UN mission in Yemen.
